Velvetina: Yay I hope that ya'll (I blame DugFinn for any Ya'lls you may encounter on my part thanks to a convocation we once had) like this chapter like I promised its long but hurried because I go to spain tomorrow, I'll touch it up when I get back.

Seto: *opens his mouth*

Chapter one: Forgotten

I'm giving up on everything

Jounouchi walked into his homeroom just as the bell rang. Nobody looked up from what they were doing, Jou was always late. Jounouchi sauntered over to his group of friends and grinned at them all.

"Hey Jou, how are you." Yugi smiled up at him,

"Ah not bad Yug, I'm real…" Jou stopped as the classroom door was thrown open. Silence fell over the class; anyone who was later than Jounouchi was in massive trouble but everyone was shocked when they saw Kaiba's lean frame in the doorway. Kaiba took a moment to sneer at them all before stalking over to his customary seat at the back of the classroom.

"Excuse me Kaiba-san but I'm going to have to give you detention." Kaiba looked back at the teacher unblinking but the fool just carried on, "School rules dictate…"

"School rules dictate? I could buy this dump hundreds of times over and still have cash to spare so I don't really care about its stupid rules,"

"B..but." The teacher stuttered,

"But nothing, just leave me alone." At this the students began to chat among themselves again,

"What da hell makes Kaiba think he's above da rules? He comes `ere he should have to go by the rules like da rest of us." Jou muttered to his friends,

"It's unusual for Kaiba to be late." Ryou frowned, "It's also unlike him to create a scene. I hope nothings wrong."

"Who cares?" Honda snapped, he was unused to having to get up early and it was soon discovered that he wasn't a morning person.

"Yeah after da way dat Kaiba treated us in his tournament he deserves to have problems. He almost didn't help Yug, cos he was so bothered wit his own problems. I don't see why we should bother ourselves with him now." Just then the teacher called for their attention and conversation became impossible.

That's just too bad
Because I'm moving on

I know I need to step up and be strong
Don't patronize me

Lunchtime couldn't come quick enough for Jounouchi. He was the first into the cafeteria and the first to sit down at a table and by the time that the others had joined him he was finished.

"Hey guys what took ya so long?" Yugi blinked at him,

"Jou its only ten minutes into lunch."

"Geez man I wonder why you never get indigestion." Honda said slamming his tray down. Suddenly a high pitched squeal cut across any other noise,

"Oh Yugi, Hi!"

"Oh why the fuck does she have to come here?" Ryou cried smacking his head on the table, the other stared at him in amazement because the angelic boy never said a mean word about anyone. "Well you can't deny she's annoying as hell." The white hair boy complained rubbing at his forehead and patting at his hair. Anzu came over quickly and squeezed herself between Ryou and Yugi before staring to chatter on about how great it was to be with her friends. Jou stood up abruptly,

"Hey guy's I'm gonna go get seconds right now, and oh look da que is long what a pity." And with that he raced up, unfortunately he was so busy concentrating on getting away he smacked into the person at the ends of the line,

"Oh sorry about that." Jou swallowed nervously as a slim brunette turned to pierce him with an icy gaze, he may mouth off Kaiba behind his back but he wasn't stupid enough to think that he'd ever be able to beat the CEO in a physical fight.

"Yeah whatever." Came the emotionless reply and the taller man turned away. Jou stood there gob smacked, he never escaped a confrontation with Kaiba without being put down at least once something was definitely up. Knowing he was going to regret it Jou reached up and tapped Kaiba on the shoulder.

Have you forgotten
Everything that I wanted
Do you forget it now

Sighing Kaiba mentally cringed away from the others touch and snapped out,

"What the hell do you want Mutt, I'm really not up to lowering myself to your level today." The blonde before him obviously bristled,

"Now listen Kaiba all I wanted ta know was are ya ok?"

"Thanks but I don't need the concern of an Inu like yourself, so please go back to your little friendship group." With that Kaiba sank back down into his dark despair. He was exhausted thanks to his insomia and once he had fallen his dreams had been mutilated by his past life,

FLASHBACK:

"Seto get down here you little brat." Blearily Seto blinked the sleep from his eye's and sat up from the desk pray that his step-father hadn't noticed that he'd fallen asleep. Hurrying down the hundreds of steps that lead to Gozaburo's office Seto politely knocked before entering.

"Come in!" Was the barked reply. Seto went in and stood in front of the massive desk. "Now I bet that you are hoping that I didn't notice your earlier mistake. Well I did boy and do you know what that means."

"Yes father." Seto replied clenching his eyes shut,

"For heavens sake open you eyes kid you will be brave and be a man. You must be perfect and at the moment I'm regretting having adopted you, maybe I'd be better off paying more attention to your brother?"

"No!" Seto screamed, "Please I'll do anything just leave Mokuba alone." A cold smirk cam over his step-fathers face as the cruel man came towards him.

END

Kaiba drew himself out of his memories and realized that his whole body was trembling like a tight drawn string. Forcing down the bile back down his throat Kaiba practically ran out of the cafeteria. In his haste Kaiba never noticed a pair of amber eyes watching him.

Gotta get away
There's no point in thinking about yesterday
It's too late now
It won't ever be the same
We're so different now

For Jou the rest of the day went quickly for he spent all of it in deep thought, at one point Honda even asked him,

"Hey what's up with you?"

"Nuttin I'm just thinking."

"Ah that explains the pained expression." Normally all hell would have broken out but all Jou did was grunt.

"Listen Guy's I gotta go now I'll see you tomorrow." Yugi said and quickly Anzu jumped in,

"Ohh I'll walk with you Yugi its near my house."

"But Anzu you live on the other side of town."

"Oh, erm the exercise will do me good." The others all walked off within their own time and soon one boy was left. The albino looked around carefully before blinking, suddenly the hair became spikier and a sinister laugh was emitted from the boy,

"Fools." The demon growled before leaving.

DugFinn: Heya. Oh my god I never thought you'd read my stuff. I feel all sentimental *sniff* Its cool though that you randomly came on and saw me! Yay. You're touched are you sure that ain't the possum again :-) I'm glad you like the idea, I thought about the whole Jou being looked after by Kaiba but decided I wanted to be slightly different, *shrug* yeah that me go AGAINST the flow…that doesn't sound quite right but oh well. I love Jou and Kaiba probably because Jou's so much like me he's the only character I don't get jealous writing or reading with Kaiba. YES UPDATE!!! Its too late for me now since I'm going to Spain for a week tomorrow but I expect a chapter when I get back!! I hope that this chappie didn't disappoint you I'm so nervous because its ages since I wrote and fanfiction.

To anyone else out there please review, I don't do flames but I don't mind constructive criticism. By the way I'm just trying out Jou's accent if you don't think it works or I'm doing it wrong please say because accents aren't really my forte.
