CHAPTER ..... 11 (I THINK)

Tea was back at the Kaiba mansion (funny how we’ve

only seen that place once on tv). It seemed that it

was big enough to swallow her up. With those big

fancy hallways, and the expensive fountain in the

hallway. (yes in the hallway!). She walked to the

stairs, with Seto and Mai following her. Mokubah

saw them before Tea had even climbed the first step.

“Tea! is your stomach better? did the doctor give

you some medicine?” (why do I make him sound so naive?

I mean, even a five year old could tell something

was wrong!) She didn’t see him. Tea walked on up the

stairs. Mokubah started to follow, but was stopped

by Seto.

“Tea still isn’t feeling too well Mokubah.”

“Why? what’s wrong with her? didn’t the medicine

work?” (geez someone give the kid a clue)

“She is just feeling a little out of it that’s all”

Seto started to draw Mokubah away from the staircase,

leaving Mai to rush up after Tea. By the time Mai

had reached the top, Tea was just locking her door.

“Tea!” Mai tried to stop her, but she was too late.

‘Maybe it’s just the whole ordeal scaring her’ she

thought, but she didn’t believe it.

#####

Tea strode to her bed, trying to ignore Mai’s yelling.

She wanted to scream, to yell, to do something.

She knew she owed alot to Seto and Mai, but she

needed to be alone for awhile. Their constant stares

were unnerving and well, kinda rude. It was a good

thing the doctor let her in by herself when he told

the result, but she could tell that they wanted to

know. Maybe they had guessed from the silence that

she, Tea Gardner, was pregnant. And to that slimy,

sleazy scumbag no less. She looked down at her belly,

where the new life was growing inside of her. ‘If

uncle Gishiro ever found out about this....’ she

trailed off, not only scared for herself, but also

for the baby. That man would never give up on them.

And even if he did, what was she supposed to do? ‘I

can’t go to school’ she thought to herself ‘I would

have to work to feed it’. No more fun, life or friends.

The emotion of the situation was getting to her. Tea

sat on the bed and started to cry. Loudly.

#####

Mai stopped yelling when she heard the noise.

‘Crying is not good’ She contemplated.

“Come on Tea!” She yelled. “Are you or aren’t

you!” she needed her to say it before she could

believe it.

“I are, I mean I am”. Came the most pitiful reply

you’d ever heard.

Mai felt like she wanted to go and kill the bast..

uh never mind. “Come on, won’t you open the door for

me?”. She heard a squeak, footsteps and then the

door finally swung open with a creak. Tea stood there,

looking like she had just cried the Waikato.

“Oh sweetie” Mai took two steps in and swept Tea

into a great big hug. “ I am so sorry”.

“For what? this ain’t your fault”.

“Yea, we all know whose fault this is. Whenever I

see that guy...” Mai let go and started practising

her Tae kwon do in the air.

“Mai, it’s nice that you’d do that for me but don’t

take on my uncle. He can do things to people”. Tea

sat down on the bed again.

“Anyway, I think it’s time for me to leave”.

“WHAT! go where Tea! you can’t go back there!”.

“I know, but I really dislike leeching off someone.

It doesn’t feel right . And what am I supposed to say

to the guys?”.

“You mean Yugi and them? They won’t care. I mean

they will care, They’ll wanna knock that guy’s block

off but they will care”.

“And what will people say about me? that I am a

little slut who prostitutes who a living?”

“You tell me who said what and I’ll beat them in a

duel!”

“Mai, you and Seto have been great. But I...”.

Seto, of course stepped in at that time.

“Ain’t leaving” He finished for her.

“How long you been out there?” Tea asked.

“Ever since ‘knock that guy’s block off’. Now you

are staying here and that’s final”.

“But Seto, here I am sitting in you’re house with a

baby inside of me” Tea looked down at the floor.

“I don’t care about that! You were one of the few

people who have ever been nice to me, no matter what

I say. You do alot of things for alot of people.

You need help, your friend and I are giving it to

you and that’s end of discussion”. He walked to her

and made her look at him, eye to eye. They stayed

like that for awhile, with Mai looking on and smiling.

’There might be a happy ending for Tea after all’

she thought.

Tea finally broke the stare and smiled. “Thank you

Seto, this is really nice of you” she said.

“I know, just don’t tell the mutt” Seto walked

out, wondering what time limit he should set his

cooks for cooking dinner. Tea looked at his

retreating back. ’he is so nice to me, I want to

help him with things‘.

Mai smiled again. “ I think it is time that I go,

It is almost seven. My shift starts soon. I will

ring you tomorrow ok?” . Tea nodded.

“Thank you so much for everything you have done for

me”.

“Hey what’s a friend if you can’t help them? anyway

do you want me to tell Yugi something?”

“Um, could you tell him I am staying at a friends

for awhile? I will go to school in a few days, until

I show”.

“Ok then, bye”. Mai left and Tea was alone with her

thoughts.

#####

Seto was thinking alot about Tea. He couldn’t get

his mind off her. And why would he convince her to

stay when she wanted to leave and not be a nuisance?.

alot more questions and a answer kept flooding his

mind. He entered the kitchens and told the chefs

that the time limit was 7:30. He looked at their

shocked faces and left. More questions were rising

but the one answer stayed that. One. ‘I can’t be ,

can I?’ He wanted to have more time to think about

this but there was someone with the phone. “Sir

there is a person on line 1 for you” Seto grunted

and took it off her. “ Hello?” He asked. There was

no reply. Seto kept on saying it over and over again,

but no one answered. Finally, he slammed it down in

frustration. A funny echo sounded from somewhere in

the house. ‘That’s weird ‘ he thought. And then the

yells started. “Mr Kaiba! Mr Kaiba!” Panicked cries

echoed across the house. “What is it?” Seto yelled.

“Your brother just fell down the stairs! There’s

blood! He hit his head!”.

Seto Kaiba took off to the southern stairs, not

knowing Tea had just come down to investigate the

noise.
