Chapter three: Egypt here we come!
While Yugi and Ryu where happily talking there was someone not so happy on the other side of the city muttering to himself…
“How could they lose? I know they were just zombies but I duelled. The pharaoh and that tomb robber aren't awake that long how could they already know so much. And why were they working together? They've never worked together before. Perhaps it's because of their reincarnations. Puh that's not so bad now I have two reasons to kill them.”
He soon reached his destination: Domino Cemetery. Once he was there he searched the cemetery for something. When he reached a certain tombstone he smiled.
“Ah perfect you'll do. Come forth.” As soon as he said that the ground started to move. In less than a minute a new zombie appeared. ”You're fast are you a good thief?” “Yes the best there is.” The zombie answered. “I guess I'll just believe you on your word. But even you will have trouble steeling from the King of Thieves so I'll grand you the power to become invisible.” After he said that the medallion glowed ant the zombie became invisible to all but him.
“Now go and get me the items!” With that said the zombie disappeared into the night.
When he reached the game shop the lights were still on and Yugi's window was opened letting laughter escape. It was at least two hours later when the lights went out. This is the time to strike the zombie thought. Within a minute he was at the door and silently opened it.
(Me: Haven't these people ever heard of an alarm? Yami: No why should they, they have me. * Gloats* Bakura: Baka pharaoh! * hits Yami on the head* Yami: Ow! T_T * Gets mad and tries to banish Bakura to the shadow realm* Bakura: *Gets banished* me: O_O)
Once he was in the house he started looking for the items. They aren't stupid they must have hidden it in a safe or something. So he searched the house for a safe.
(Of course everyone who knows the series knows that Yugi never let the puzzle out of his sight I don't know if that counts for Ryu too.)
He searched room for room but without luck. Finally there was just one room left, Yugi's room. Hmm there more careful than I thought not letting the items get out of their sight and more stupid for not putting them somewhere safe anyone can take them . After that he went to the door of Yugi's room. Slowly he turned the knob and opened the door. It was completely dark in the room except for the moonlight peering in. Yugi and Ryu were deep asleep. He looked around the room but still now sign of the items. He went to every dresser, closet and shelf in the room but still nothing. Just as he was about to give up Yugi shifted in his sleep.
(Wait is he allowed to give up? I don't think so! Luckily for him he got some help from me. Hé now I'm on the bad side. Don't worry it'll al work out I promise .)
As he did it revealed that the Millennium Puzzle was still around his neck. (It must be hard sleeping that way.) HA the little buggers. He then proceeded to take the puzzle from Yugi's neck without him noticing it. It worked but when he wanted to do the same to Ryu it backfired. Bakura immediately took over noticing that someone was taking the mill. Ring. When he woke up he didn't see anything. He looked around the room and noticed the mill. Puzzle floating in mid air. Before he knew it he was back in the ring. The zombie had also taken the ring of the unaware Bakura. Before he completely vanished he managed to say a loud “KUSO” waking up Yugi and Ryu. Noticing their Mill. Items floating in mid air they immediately gave chase grabbing their jackets in the process. Unfortunately for the zombie the invisibility only lasted till he stole the items so he became visible once more.
“He get back here you thief!” Ryu yelled.
“Yeh those are our items give them back now!” Yugi yelled even louder. (Is that even possible for him?)
They chased the zombie like there was no tomorrow, however the zombie was getting away.
“C'mon Ryu we have to get the items back.”
“Yeh or that thief may have a companion very soon.”
“You don't think he would, do you?”
“I have no idea.”
“You're faster than me, go ahead and I'll catch up.”
“OK”
With that said Ryu went even faster and was gaining on the zombie. Right then the zombie heard a message: Hide the items and come here as soon as you can. He frantically searched for a hiding spot. Then he spotted a park. Ah perfect. He entered the park and hid the items in a bush. After that he started running again. Ryu who hadn't seen the zombie hiding the items thought he still had them and kept running. When he finally caught the zombie he waited for Yugi to arrive. Yugi got there not much later.
“AH you have him has he already given back the items?” Yugi said still panting.
“No, and I can't find them either!” Ryu panicked.
“What? But he must still have them, where else could they be? Maybe we can track them?”
“How the ring is gone!”
“Persuade him or something!” Yugi said pointing to the zombie.
“Give us the items, NOW!” Ryu said to the zombie. ”Or I'll kill you right here and now!”
“Ok, ok the items are….” The zombie said scared because right now Ryu had an eerie resemblance to Bakura. (His hair even got spikier and if Yugi wasn't sure the ring wasn't on his neck he would have believed Ryu to be Bakura.)
Right then the zombie went limp. Yugi who was still shocked at Ryu's threat couldn't say anything. After a few moments he managed to say: “Now how are we going to get the items back?” In the mean time a dog had found the items and was walking around the park with them in its mouth and just happened to come across Yugi and Ryu who were walking thinking of ways to get the items back.
“Hé look! That dog has the items in his mouth!” Yugi yelled.
“Shh you don't want to scare it away do you? Do you have anything to lure it with?” Ryu answered.
“Yes I still have a piece of bread in my pocket. I wasn't hungry at lunch break and decided to save it for tonight or something, but now I guess I'll use it to lure the dog.”
“Ok then try it.”
With that said Yugi kneeled down on his knees and held the piece of bread out saying here doggy, come boy were not going to hurt you in a singsong voice. The dog that was a stray dog and quite hungry came immediately as soon as he spotted the bread. He dropped the items and ate the bread before disappearing.
“Alright we've gotten our items back.” Ryu and Yugi both cheered. Yugi and Ryu both put their items around there neck.
/Yami are you ok?/
!Yes I'm fine Yugi although I stink like dogs drool!
/ Well be glad that that's all/ Yugi giggled.
In the meantime Ryu was talking with a VERY angry Bakura.
@ Yudanoushi, how dare you let someone steal the Ring! I stink like a pig! It's going to take ages to make this stench disappear! Plus I was stuck in that Ring again! I hate it to be stuck in the Ring! @
#Gomen, gomen I couldn't help it!#
@ Don't let it happen again or I'll have to teach you a lesson or two about being careful with the Ring@
Ryu gulped. Bakura's lessons weren't pleasant when he was mad (or when he wasn't mad for that matter) and Ryu didn't want another, he still remembered what Bakura did last time they were separated.
His thoughts were interrupted when Yugi asked if he knew what that was all about.
“No, I have no idea.”
“Strange this is already the second time this evening, what is going on?”
“Why don't we go home and sleep a night about it?” Ryu asked.
“Good idea.” Yugi agreed.
In the mean time the mysterious man had other problems. He was just about to go after Ryu and Yugi when his medallion glowed showing him a vision off tomb robbers in his tomb. (Yes the medallion has more then one power, you'll find out how further in the story)
“Damn if they take the tablet that's in there I might be in trouble. It says exactly how to awaken slumbering shadow powers with the help of a spell. I have to get back.” After that he telepathically said to the zombie: Hide the items and come here as soon as you can!
After that was done he ran to the edge of the city and started to concentrate. His medallion started to glow and a dark hole appeared next to him. He waited for a minute for his servant but then decided he had waited long enough and steps trough. At that exact moment the zombie Yugi and Ryu had cornered went limp.
It was now 5 in the morning and Ryu and Yugi where inside the game shop pondering about what to do next.
“Those first zombies's were most definitely controlled by someone. If we only knew who it was, that controlled them. It looked like the same technique Marik used with his Rod but it couldn't be him. So who could it be?” Yugi asked.
“I have no idea.” Ryu said. “But it is way too late to think about that I haven't had much sleep and I'm going to bed.”
“I think I'll go to. You're right we might find something out when we're not so sleepy.”
With that said that both went upstairs and back to bed. They didn't even get the chance to say “sleep well” to their Yami's because they were already asleep.
When they woke up it was already 3:30 in the afternoon. They quickly ate something in front of the TV and when they decided to turn it of the news was just starting. They decided that since they had nothing else to do they might as well watch.
The news tune came up and right after that the newsreader appeared. “Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen. This is just in. There is a new tomb discovered in Egypt. It was probably the one professor Peter had found but he never managed to tell where it was. A few moments ago a few archaeologist went in along with someone from our news team. Here are the first images of the tomb.” On the screen was now the tomb. There appeared to be nothing special about it. However when the camera zoomed in on the lid of the coffin both Yami and Bakura gasped. There was a hieroglyph on it in the shape of the head of Anubis.
“This is the same shape that was on the heads of those zombie's!” Yami said.
“Are you sure?” Yugi asked.
“Of course I am. I wouldn't forget something like that you know!” Yami said rather irritated.
“Then this must be connected somehow to that. Perhaps if we go there we would be able to learn more about whose after the items.” Bakura mused. And perhaps get something valuable in the process.
“I'm not so sure about this.” Yugi said. “What about you Ryu?'
“I don't mind. I've always wanted to see Egypt like my father and this is the perfect chance.”
“Well ok and what about you Yami? What do you think?”
“I think it's a trap and that if we go we must be very careful, but what about you Yugi? Don't you have an opinion on the matter?”
“I like to go to Egypt too but I also think we have to be very careful. Like you said it could be a trap. But I want to go”
“It is decided then!” Ryu said. “We're going to Egypt, the land of our Yami's.”
Having agreed on this they had to find a way to get there. Ryu suggested by plane since it was the fastest way. However plains are expensive and not everyone has enough money to just buy tickets to Egypt not to mention a place to stay. The tickets weren't a problem. Because of the tournaments Yugi had more than enough money to buy one for him and Ryu. After that they thought about a place to stay. After a while Yugi got an idea and grabbed the phone. He walked in the hallway and out of hearing distance. After about twenty minutes he came back in, a big smile on his face.
“I just talked to Ishizu. She says we can stay at her house since she and Malik are going to America tomorrow for a display in a museum there. The keys are hidden by shadow magic so only we can find them. So we have a place to stay. Should I get the tickets today?'
It took the rest a while before they answered (because their mouths were hanging open). Finally Ryu said “Yes today will be fine.” With that said Yugi grabbed the phone again and booked two tickets to Egypt for the next day.
Ryu went home to pack his bags for the journey. They agreed that he would be back at Yugi's around dinner time and spent the night at the game shop. Hopefully they could persuade grandpa to give them a ride to the airport. Else they would have to use the bus and subway to get there.
The rest of the day at the Mouto's was spent with packing the bags and other things Yugi and Yami thought they might need. Although Yami was a spirit he made sure that Yugi didn't forget anything.
Ryu was back at the game shop by six. He arrived only two minute's later than Yugi's grandpa who had come back from the expedition at five. When he got there dinner was ready. Yugi had cooked. It tasted wonderful. It was also grandpa's favourite. When they asked about the ride to the airport he didn't even seem surprised. When Ryu asked why, Yugi's grandpa answered that Yugi always cooked this when he wanted something. This made Yugi turn red. However grandpa agreed. Around nine they went to bed and fell asleep.
