The sun that afternoon was warm, the air humid. It was a perfect day for a paintress as herself to get out of the house. It had been rainy all week long and she desperately needed some fresh air and time to herself. She went to her normal spot in a local park, by the lake. A soft wind blew by as she sat down, opening her pad of paints and pulling a brush from her small backpack.

She looked at the scenery around her, looking for some sort of inspiration. She had a fun time a few months ago when she had first moved to Domino City at drawing the monsters she saw in a local tournament. Even though she had moved to town too late she still enjoyed watching the spectacular duel monster battles that went on.

But now that things had calmed and the battles were a thing of the past, she had a large lack of inspiration. She smiled, seeing some kids playing some sort of game over by the swing set and monkey bars. She giggled as she heard one of them call out, "I am the great Seto Kaiba! Bow down to my monster! BLUE EYES! WHITE LIGHTENING ATTACK!"

"Even the little ones are into the game…" She whispered, shaking her head. She then gasped, the site of a young man who looked no older than her stood down by the lake, feeding a swan. She blinked her coffee colored eyes, pulling her wavy short hair away from her face as the wind blew the soft burgundy curls into her eyes.

He was tall, or at least taller than she. His dark skin told her that he either came from some sort of foreign family or just spent a lot of time in the sun. But, the fact that his layered, spike filled hair was colored that of a bleach like blonde, made her believe that he was out doors a little too much. He was thin, yet built.

Though, it wasn't until he turned that she fell in love with him for the first time. His serene smile twinkled not only on his closed lips, but also in his wide lavender eyes. Golden earrings dangled from his lobes as he crouched on one knee, one hand holding out feed to the swan while he leaned down on the other arm on his up right knee.

` He's gorgeous… ' She thought as she looked at him. Finally, she had a subject to paint. Grabbing her pencil, she moved swiftly, making a fast outline sketch of him of which to go by. It was rare that she got a chance to paint a person in such a serene yet dramatic pose as this.

Soon after she had begun to paint in the figure's colors, she felt a drop or two fall onto her head. She looked at the sky above her. It was pitch black, thick with the slowly falling raindrops that began to part from their moisture filled home. "Oh no…" She gasped, frantically trying to gather her things as the ran fell faster.

Hearing her movement, the man that she had been painting lifted his gaze from the swan he had been continuously feeding and looked over at her. As the swan fled for a place to keep dry, he stood, jogging over her. "Here, let me help you." He said softly, bending down and helping her to gather her precious art supplies.

"Got everything?" He asked. She nodded and flung her backpack on her back as she felt him grab her wrist, the rain falling harder around and on them. "Com'on!" He called over his shoulder as he pulled her towards a gazebo some hundred yards or so away. She clutched the book to her chest that she had been painting on, trying to keep the rain from ruining it.

Once they were safe from the wetness inside the gazebo, she sat down her backpack and book before pulling out a paint stained towel, drying her arms, face, and legs with it a moment. He smiled, taking it from her as she offered it to him.

"That storm came out of no where, didn't it?" He chuckled. "You okay?"

She nodded, taking the towel and placing it in her bag once he was done with it and handed it back to her. "I am now…" She smiled and then gasped as she saw him admiring the picture of him she had been painting. She chewed her lip.

"You're very good…" He said, smiling as he studied the mini portrait. "I've never seen such talent…" She felt red-hot flames rise from her neck and flood her cheeks.

"Thank you." She whispered, taking and closing the book as he handed it to her as he had the towel a few moments before hand, placing it in her bag, her cheeks till crimson. He smiled.

"Forgive my manners." He said, taking her hand and kissing the back of it. "My name is Malik."

She met his gaze as he introduced hisself. She was lost in the intense color of his lavender eyes instantly. "My name is Raven…" She whispered, the rains creating a dream world like glow around them.

"It's a pleasure to meet such a beautiful artist as yourself, Miss Raven." He said, a gentlemanly air about him as he smiled at her.

She gasped. Continuing to hold his gaze, she knew that this freak chance meeting was going to turn out to be much more than a run of the mill friendship. Much, much more.
