Yu-Gi-Oh! Fan Fiction ❯ Tainted Love: Light and Dark ❯ Twisted Emotion ( Chapter 2 )

As Ryou began to wander from the Moto home, it was only a few seconds before he realized he was wandering around still in a pair of pajamas. He frowned some and let a soft sigh tumble from feather soft lips. He didn't have his own clothes, so that was out of the question, and after Yugi stayed up all night waiting for him to wake, there was no way he could go in and get him up to ask for a pair of clothes to borrow. Even if he had, it would be unlikely it would fit. As for his larger Yami? Sure, he could probably fit his clothes, but would that even work? Wearing the clothes of a spirit? And where would that leave him? He only seemed to wear one pair of clothes, and after Yami had done so much to help him, he couldn't do that even if literally he could.
Ryou finally decided he lived close enough that he could just walk home. Sure, it might look odd for him to walk around outside in just a pair of pajamas but who really cared? So long as he got to his destination safely.
He was lucky though. He was able to get home in a minimal amount of time, and so far, he had no complaints, rude comments, or perverse words from his yami. He figured that a blessing and decided to put it to rest. As Ryou entered his own bedroom that he was quite calmed by seeing, after spending so much time away from it, he caught a glance of his bruised and beaten body in the full length mirror leaning against his bedroom wall. It was then as he looked at his dirty, slightly greasy haired self that he realized how he was in desperate need of a bath. As much as he wanted to take that long walk, he also though that a relaxing, warm bath might ease his mind, even if just a little. So without giving it another thought, he made his way into the bathroom, pealing off the borrowed night clothes - taking note to wash them later so to return clean clothes to his friend - then took another glance at himself in the bathroom mirror.
Soft digits brushed across his chest, inspecting the bruises and small cuts caused by his yami. In a few places, skin was slightly torn up and speckled with blood from where sharp nails tore into his delicate flesh. Around each of those individual little cuts, purple bruises had formed from such painful pressure. His cheek had a bruise across it from when he was stuck, and a few more similar to it were placed along his chest and belly from many other hits.
Though, he had to admit he'd been lucky. Yami had actually gone fairly easy on him this time. No whips, no knives. It was kept strictly to chains and hands. He couldn't stand the fact that he had to rejoice about being abused "gently", but in the type of situations he was put in day after day, it was well needed.
He closed his eyes to hold back a few tears that threatened to fall as he made his way over to the bathtub and began to draw the water. Once the water was high enough, he shut off the faucet and lowered his nude, pale body into the clear, warm water. Ryou didn't bother to remove the millenium item from around his neck as it was useless. The moment he would have tried, his Yami would put it right back on, and the last thing he needed was to surface him.
He breathed a sigh of relief upon coming in contact with the soothing liquid that enclosed around his body. His mind drifted once more, seeking a thought that might bring some ease to his body, but no matter what he tried to settle his mind on, it always fell back to his Yami. Ryou drew in a deep breath, only to release it shortly after. "If only I could get rid of my Yami…"
Just as soon as the words spilled from silken lips, he could feel a light pressure against his thigh, slowly gaining weight as a being materialized over his form. The voice that came soon after was thick and dark, outweighing the pressure between his legs. "but you can't, can you my little tenshi?" A thick heat spilled over his cheeks followed by warm, butterfly kisses across his cheekbone. Yami knelt between his legs; hands dipped into the water and resting on the floor of the tub.
Ryou released a light sigh as he tilted his head away, shivering slightly from his Yami's touch, only a small portion of his body taking enjoyment in the contact while the rest tried all it's might to hold his stomach's contents where it was suppose to be. "I'm not your tenshi…don't call me that…"
Yami Bakura was taken aback by such a comment, lofting a slender, smooth white brow in odd response. "Oh?" he murmured lightly before leaning his lips back against his cheek. "I'm sorry to hear that you think that. Because, that is what you are. Mine. Angel or not." His words were a mere purr as they rolled over his skin, silk kisses making their way to the much more innocent pair while a single hand caught Ryou's chin and assisted him, tilting the younger face towards his. The little angel whined and tried to shift from beneath him, but was stopped by the strong hips that pinned him to the floor of the tub. "Shhh little Ryou. None of that now…"
Big, brown, pleading orbs shifted up towards him, sparkling with a few tears that wanted so badly to fall, but he did his best to hold them back, only causing his head to scream with a sharp, burning pain. He closed his eyes, parting quivering, pale lips to speak with that irresistible British accent. "Yami…" a single tear rolled over his cheek, which said Yami caught on his tongue and swallowed. "Why do you do this to me?"
There was a silence as the question was taken into consideration, the older male pondering over it for a while before finally answering, "'have to keep my little one in check, while enjoying it along the way. I have to remind you of the superior half here"
Ryou's expression went grave as he narrowed his eyes to small slits, snapping back to the best of his ability, though arguing as such was not a strong point of his. "What exactly makes you so superior?"
"Isn't is obvious, little Ryou? After all, I'm older, stronger, and smarter. I get what I want, when I want, and am not afraid to use force, where as I've seen mice more vicious then you, darling. Not to say that's necessarily always a bad thing. Occasionally it's very kawaii!" He winked to his smaller half, who proceeded to stare darkly at him, trying as hard as he could to find a come back, but when he couldn't come up with one, he submitted and lowered his eyes to the water.
In response to the lack of argument that Yami seemed obviously hoping for, he made up for it by placing a much-unwanted kiss upon the angel's lip's beneath him. "I'll tell you what. I'll make you a deal."
He could hardly get the words out before Ryou had responded sharply, knowing his Yami wouldn't easily make just any kind of deal that didn't require a great deal of pain or effort. "What's the catch?"
"Catch?" he pursed his lips a moment, raising his chest up until he was seated with a straight back on his Hikari's hips, seeming to think a moment, though for the most part trying to taunt the smaller creature writhing uneasily under his weight. "I see. So that's what you think of me…" he frowned mockingly, watching the swirl of emotions that took place on the younger boy's pale face, the un-sureness of what to think and expect from his older self. "Well never mind then, if you don't want me to make things easier for you then-…"
"Wait!" Ryou's eyes lit up as he gazed up at his Yami, brown orbs still sparkling with a glaze of tears. He didn't think Yami would try and do such a thing, make things easy, but if he were to offer, it sure as hell didn't hurt to find out what the rules of this new game were? At least, not as hurtful as most of his games. "Please Yami…I'm willing to hear what you have to say…"
His Yami smiled lightly as he lowered a light kiss to his forehead. "That's a good boy. Now listen. All I want you to do is to prove yourself to me, and maybe I wont be so harsh…" He watched another wave of emotions fall over his hikari's face, which drew forth a faint laughter that bubbled from silken lips. "I just mean that I want you to show me you deserve this. Prove that you're good enough to receive my kindness. Understood little one?"
Ryou only lowered his cheek to the surface of the water, letting the warm and now cooling ripples brush against his fair skin, eyes falling half closed in thought. An impatient Yami sighed and pinched a reddened, sore and swollen nipple between two fingers, burying his sharp nails into the already abused skin, pressing upwards and sending sharp, tearing pains through the younger boy's chest. "I said, `understood, little one?'" with another sharp tear to the skin, a ribbon of crimson writhed it's way to the water's surface, a blood cloud forming as it reached final destination and began to mix and mingle with the second liquid.
"Nnng!!! Hai Yami! Yameru! I understand!" Ryou closed his eyes tight, face scrunching a little as his muscles tensed and he tried to move as little as possible to avoid any more tearing, because with the slightest movement, he could be down to only one pretty little pink bud.
"Good boy…" he withdrew his nail from the soft flesh, allowing another blood ribbon to slither through the water and dissipate only after achieving a light pink hue color before drifting away once more into the water. "You know…" he paused a moment as he used the tips of his fingers to guide Ryou's face upwards once more so he could get a good look at him. "You're so cute when you do that."
Ryou left his face a bit scrunched up, only cracking open an eye just enough to see his slightly more devious reflection grinning wickedly above him. "When I…do what, may I ask?"
"When you do that…" he spoke lightly, pressing a long, soft digit to his nose. "That adorable little expression" he watched as a cautious Ryou opened both eyes and gazed up at him as though he were a small kitten opening his eyes for the first time, watching his Yami's movements carefully with unsurpassable innocence.
Before the little Hikari could utter a single word, Yami captured those pouting, swollen lips in a surprisingly soft and yet still dominant kiss, long digits trailing their way down Ryou's neck and dipping into the water. Ryou fought back both the urge to gag as well as the small amount of pleasure he found with that single kiss that sent his body into delirium and caused his nerve endings to go haywire. Then when his darker half pulled back, he was both grateful and disappointed at the same time.
"Good boy…" he whispered against his lips once more before pulling back to give Ryou a bit more room to move. "Now, think about it alright? Then I want you to show me your decision tonight. Don't verbalize it. Show. Tonight little tenshi." And with that, the older form slipped back into the millenium ring once more, leaving Ryou to finish his bath in peace.
~*~*~*~*
It wasn't until around noon that Yugi finally awoke, stretching short arms into the air and letting out a long yawn as he tried to get all the kinks out of his tired, lithe form. He hadn't gotten a whole lot of sleep - a few hours worth - but the nap had been quite satisfying after sitting up all night with his very upset friend. But, he didn't mind one bit. In fact, if he had to do it again, he would in a heartbeat. He had to admit there was something about watching Ryou sleep that was very interesting to him. It made him feel happy and warm. Sure, he knew it sounded sappy, but it was true. Everything felt so calm and serene when he was watching his friend. Taking in the sight before him, watching the ever current rising and falling of his chest, with those gentle, innocent, semi carefree breaths. For a moment, he had almost felt as though nothing else mattered in the world. Everything around them had become irrelevant. Time felt as though it had no meaning, and in truth, it all seemed to go by far too quickly.
He closed his eyes, as if trying to relive those hours he'd laid with Ryou, though, he somehow did not understand what he was feeling. He didn't know why he suddenly had those urges to pull Bakura into his arms and hold him, and remind him that he would always be there to protect him and tell him that he would save him from his darkness.
That's when he opened his eyes and looked to his side to realize that Ryou was gone. "Bakura?" he murmured softly. Maybe he'd dreamt the whole thing? No…the blanket was still there, and he remembered everything that had happened that night so vividly. So where had Bakura gone? Maybe he went to get something to eat? Or went to the bathroom? "Bakura?" he called again, a little louder this time.
"He left early this morning, Yugi" Yami's voice was soft and calm as usual as he entered the room, leaning against the frame of the door that led into the kitchen. Seeing a slightly saddened expression overcome little Yugi Moto's face and sensing the downpour of questions beginning with `why' that surfaced on his lips, he decided to continue before his hikari could say anything, "It's alright Yugi. The reason for his leaving had nothing to do with anything that you had done. He's very grateful of your hospitality, in fact, and he asked me to forward you his apologies for leaving before you awoke…" he stopped momentarily to gather his words, smiling softly as Yugi seemed to calm. "He just needed to take a walk. I'm sure you can understand why. Maybe you could phone him to see how he's doing? Surely he's home by now"
"Good idea Yami!" those big, bright violet eyes of Yugi's lit up as he all but leaped at the phone, snatching it off the hook and dialing the number as fast as he could, having his friend's number memorized quite well. Yami could only smile at the actions of the other boy, taking into good humor what another might call childish or annoying. Though as Yami watched the smaller him listen to ring after ring and the gleeful face fall, he couldn't help but frown slightly, himself. Ryou wasn't home? Then…where could he possibly be? Yugi lowered the phone down and hung up before flopping back down on the couch.
Yami walked along side him and took a seat on the couch near him, and there was an unsettling silence as they both tried to find something to say. Then, who was it to finally break that silence? Why, Yami of course. "Yugi, let me ask you something…"
The little hikari looked up at him, curiousody quite apparent in those brilliant, beautiful eyes. "Of course, what is it?"
The older pharaoh thought over his words and how to phrase what he wanted to say, not wanting his little hikari to take anything the wrong way or to sound like he was jumping to conclusions, and most certainly he didn't want to confuse him which wasn't a difficult task. "… Do you … like someone?"
A soft shade of pink rose in Yugi's cheeks as he put on his most innocent expression, ending up looking like a little kitten who just shredded the furniture and was trying desperately to be cute as possible so the master would look past it. "Ah…Me Yami? Of course not! Where'd you get a silly idea like that?"
Yami laughed softly and reached forwards to brush his long fingers through his hikari's spiked hair. "It's Ryou, isn't it."
Yugi coughed softly, the pink in his cheeks darkening and spreading across the bridge of his nose. "Yamiiiii if you've been looking at my thoughts again…"
"Of course not, Yugi! I'd never invade your privacy like that." He lifted his chin a bit with his index finger so he could get a good look at those violet orbs. "I can see it Yugi. It's in your eyes when you look at him, your voice when you talk of him…" he lofted a golden brow. "In your step when you-"
"-Thank you Yami! That'll do!" A large sweat-drop ran down the side of his face. He paused and glanced downwards as Yami laughed softly, leaning forwards to place a gentle kiss against little Yugi's forehead. All he could think to do in response was pout lightly at the awkward situation, lower lip protruding slightly.
Yami gently pushed back said lip into his mouth with a single digit and gave him a warm, comforting smile. "Please don't pout Yugi. You'll make me jealous."
"Of?" He cocked a brow with curiousody.
"Ryou" stated oh-so matter-of-factly.
"Why would you be jealous of…" he trailed off as he noticed the way those soft, fiery red eyes gazed at him; locked with his own large, violet orbs. The way those graceful fingers still lingered over his chin. He took in a sharp breath, finally realizing something and feeling incredibly bad for never noticing such before. "Oh Yami! I never noticed before, I'm so sorry…"
"Don't be sorry, Yugi. That's the last thing you need. You've got plenty other things to worry about right now, like how you're going to tell Ryou just how you feel." His voice stayed warm and gentle like that of a caring older brother, and for a moment he felt as though he understood the bond that Mokuba and Seto kaiba seemed to have, even though Seto seems to hate everyone. Although, lately he has been spending quite a bit of time with Joey, and even though he still has that unbreakably hard outer shell, he seems to be softening up on the inside if even just a bit. Of course, it was only months ago that Yugi found he had a crush on his best friend, but when Joey confessed to him his love for the older Kaiba brother, he decided to let his own feelings pass with the assumption that they were just an everyday school-boy crush.
Though, it made him think. If maybe he had told Joey what he'd felt earlier, maybe he could still have the chance to be with him. They might be together now, instead of him being with his past rival. So, maybe there was truth to Yami's words. Maybe he should tell Bakura how he felt. But then what if his feelings weren't returned? He couldn't stand the thought of Ryou hating him for his loving him.
A tear sparkled over Yugi's cheek, and Yami gently wiped it away. "Yugi? What is it?" He sounded suddenly worried about his hikari.
"It's just…" he closed his eyes and leaned forward to rest his forehead against Yami's chest. "What if I tell him and he ends up not liking me anymore…" he closed his eyes, about to break down into a downpour of tears when he felt warm, strong arms around his waist and he was pulled into a comforting, tight embrace.
" `ush, `ush…" he held him tightly, not wanting to see him cry. "You know Ryou better than anyone. Do you really think he'd be cruel enough to dislike you for that?" He closed his eyes, pondering over telling him about this morning, but he realized Ryou might not want that information to be told. Anyway, he shouldn't have to tell. If these two aren't meant to be together, then it won't matter, and if they are soul mates, then he doesn't need to tell them. It would mean they are bound together, and even if what information he knows about them is not disclosed, then love will bring them together in the end. So, he found something else to say and continued. "You two are so much alike, Yugi. Do you know that? So tell me, if it were the other way around, what would you say to him? Trust me. He's too good of a friend. He would never do anything to threaten your friendship, no matter what your feelings are."
Yugi smiled lightly, beginning to feel better at the reassurance that his Yami was ever so good as providing just when he needed it. "Thank you Yami…For everything! I think I'm going to do it. I'm going to go look for him. I don't know how or where to start but I'm going…" he slipped from Yami's arms and started towards the door. "Thank you!" he reiterated one last time, throwing it over his shoulder to the form still resting on the couch.
Yami laughed softly, happy again to see those glowing, gleeful eyes once more. "Of course Yugi" he spoke lightly as he watched Yugi turn down the stairs that led to the shop.
~*~*~*~*
As Yugi flung open the door of the card shop, something hit him in the chest, causing him to stumble and topple to the ground. He winced as he hit the floor, eyes cast downwards and catching glance of an old pair of tennis shoes. "Oh!! I'm so sorry! I wasn't watching where I was going, I didn't mean to…" he glanced up and he realized he recognized the form looking down at him curiously with big brown eyes. "…. Bakura?"
"Oh, hey Yugi! Why in such a rush?" he smiled softly to his friend and extended a hand downwards to help him up, which the smaller friend took happily and used for support to climb to his feet once more.
"Oh…no real reason in particular…" he looked away from Ryou, suddenly feeling a bit nervous about admitting he was really about to go searching for him. "But…What brings you here?"
He rolled his eyes a bit. "I felt like standing in front of your door." Yugi smiled lightly and looked up at him again. Noticing that he caught his eyes again, having seen him look away moments before, Ryou continued with a softer, less sarcastic tone. "I came to see you."
Yugi tilted his head a bit like a little sparrow. "is anything the matter?"
"Of course not Yugi. Everything is fine. I suppose I was just hoping to talk to you. I don't know why…I just had this sudden urge to see you though." A soft pink rose in his cheeks, suddenly realizing how that must have sounded. Of course, he couldn't exactly deny anything if it was interpreted the same way it sounded, and quite frankly, he was forgetting how he originally meant it to come out.
"Actually, Bakura…to be honest I was thinking the same thing." The blush faded from Ryou's cheeks as it was Yugi's turn to turn pink, and Bakura looked a bit surprised at his wee friend.
"Oh?"
"Yeah…I guess…well, Bakura, there's something I've been meaning to ask you…" he looked to the ground and shuffled his feet nervously as Ryou continued to look oddly at him. Not upset or rude, just confused.
"Sure, Yugi."
There was a long pause before little Yugi finally spoke up. "What do you think of me?"
Ryou's eyes widened a bit at the strange question, but quickly softened as to not offend his friend. "Well, Yugi, you know you're my best friend and-"
"-I mean…that way…"
Silence.
Ryou let his eyes fall closed and Yugi stood, blushing, eyes to the ground as he waited for some kind of response, each passing second seeming longer than the last and each put their own burden on his heart as he feared rejection. Though, this time, no one spoke up. Instead, after what seemed like an eternity, Ryou opened his arms to his smaller friend, expression softening, allowing Yugi to be enclosed in a soft, warm embrace.
He held Yugi close, leaning forward to bury his face into ebony and crimson, breathing in the smaller boy's scent. "Yugi…" he murmured lightly, letting his lips within inches of his ear. "Does this answer your question?"
~*~*~*~*
Though, the two were not alone. In the distance, a silhouette of a form watched them from within the shadows, listening to every spoken word, catching their every movement. He could almost taste the emotions that fluttered around the innocent pair.
"Ryou" the voice was imperceptible, so slight that it couldn't be picked up. "my Ryou" There was a fleeting glimpse of white strands amongst a small breeze, and then it was gone.
