Turtle: I don't own Yugioh, any of the characters, or anything you might recognize. I only own Kristian, Amber, Ari, Angel, and their parents, so you can't sue me. They can't sue me, can they?
No: No.
Turtle: Didn't think so.

"Oh, hold on, I forgot my money," Angel said, climbing back out of the car.
"I'll get it," Amber offered. She dashed back into Angel's house just as the phone rang. She answered it.
"Hello?"
"Hey Amber!"
"Kristian? What's up?"
"Can you and Angel spend the night?"
"Uh, we're about to leave, Kristian, we're going to the dance."
"I know. Meet me there and then you can come home with me. My mom'll pick us up."
"Um… I'll call you back, ok?"
Amber and Angel checked with their parents, let Kristian know they could come, and got back into Angel's mom's car.
At five till seven they pulled up in front of Domino High School. And realized that they had no clue how to get their stuff to Kristian's.
"Hey!" Kristian called, running up to them.
"Um, Kristian, is your mom here to take our stuff home?" Amber asked, pulling their backpacks and sleeping bags out of the trunk.
"Um, no, you guys, see, my mom kind of left, and I kind of left my ticket at home…" Kristian grinned stupidly. Angel shook her head.
"Well, get in!" Angel's mom called. They obediently all got in the car and started towards Kristian's, following her directions.
They pulled up to Kristian's at 7:45.
"Oh Ra," Angel whispered.
"What?" Amber asked, dragging her stuff into Kristian's house as Kristian raided it for her ticket.
"They don't let you into the school for the dance past eight," she muttered, helping Amber.
"Oh, great, why does everything have to happen to us?" Amber cried.
"We can still make it," Kristian said, appearing at the doorway. And then added, "But my mom already left with my ticket to go to the school and give it back to me."
"Oh, perfect!" Amber cried. "Just when things couldn't get any worse. Well, they can't get worse now." She glanced questioningly at Angel, who was looking expectantly up at the sky.
"What are you doing?"
"Waiting for it to rain," Angel replied, staring at the sky.
"Why?"
"Well, on TV shows, whenever someone says things can't get worse, it starts to rain." Amber rolled her eyes and they climbed back into the car.
//What's happening?// Amber heard Ari talking to her mentally, as they always had, but outside of school. Ari made a point of shutting off their mental link and not paying any attention during school.
/Um, nothing important./ Amber grinned.
//Why are you so jump?//
/You wouldn't get it. You had to have been paying attention the whole time./
//Oh. Well, do you need me or should I go to sleep?//
/Oh, I'll need you. Just stay awake, I have a surprise for you. If we make it in here in time./
//Um, I'm still not paying attention, just get me when you need me, ok?//
The car pulled up in front of the school. 7:58. The three of them dashed inside. Kristian's mother wasn't there.
"I guess she… left?" Amber groaned.
"What am I going to do? What are you going to do? What do we do?"
"Where's Angel?" Amber glanced around. Sure enough, Angel was missing. But they only had to look for about thirty seconds before they found her talking animatedly with the teacher at the ticket booth, their Geography teacher.
"What are you doing?" Amber asked, but Angel continued talking with the teacher as though they weren't there.
"So then, we came here, and her mom's not here, so we think she left. And we were wondering if maybe she left Kristian's ticket here…?" The teacher glanced back and forth between Amber, Angel and Kristian and shook her head.
"You guys, we have a record of everyone who bought a ticket right here. You don't need your ticket."
"Hey, Kristian, um, well, I was wondering…" Kristian stared up at Seto Kaiba, who had approached her shortly after their arrival. Angel had gone off somewhere, and Amber was looking for Duke.
"Uh, yeah?" Kristian muttered. She noticed Amber talking to Duke a few feet away. Actually, Duke was talking to Amber, and Amber wasn't really saying much at all.
//What's going on? Is someone trying to dance with you again?//
/Relax, he's fine, you'll like him./
//No I won't. I never like any of the boys that tried to dance with you.//
/You'll recognize him. You knew him. You told me you knew him./
//What are you talking about?//
/I'll dance with him. And then later, after I dance because I like him, you'll meet him. You can meet him at school one day, I know you'll approve./
//No I won't.//
/Yes you will. You knew him. You told me. You loved him./
"Will you dance with me?" Kristian nodded happily and allowed him to lead her onto the floor as a slow song started up. She looked up into his eyes. She had always liked Seto Kaiba. She smiled. This would be a night to remember.
/This is where you take over./
Ari blinked. What did Amber want her to do again? Oh, right, dance with this boy, Duke Devlin. Whatever. She didn't care. She didn't like him much. Amber and Duke would be good together, Ari thought, but not me. Ari kind of followed Duke's lead, glancing around the gym. And then someone caught her eye.
Two boys were talking in a corner. One of them was Yugi Mutou. Ari knew that. She paid enough attention to Amber to know that. They were sort of friends. She didn't know the other one, but there was just something about him that seemed familiar. She couldn't place what it was, but it was as though she'd seen him before.
Tea Gardner ran up to Yugi and they walked off. The boy she'd been eyeing left the gym and headed out to the refreshment stand in the hallway.
"Um, I, um, have to go really quick, Duke," Ari muttered. "I'll be right back, ok?"
Ari tried to push through the crowd, shoving past couples and struggling to follow whoever it was. She didn't know what she was expecting to do or say once she found him, she just wanted to know who he was. And why he looked so familiar.
Ari was so intent on not letting him escape her sight that she ran into a couple. All three of them fell and knocked down two more couples around them. Ari stood up to apologize to who she ran into and grinned. It was Tea and Yugi. Ari rolled her eyes and stood up.
"Sorry, you two," she said. She shook her head and proceeded to shove through everyone else until she reached the hallway outside the gym. She sighed. Whoever that boy had been, he was gone.
"Amber!"
Ari turned around to find Duke.
"Yeah?"
"I'm so sorry Amber, I wish I could stay, but I just got this call, and there's been an emergency. I really need to go home."
"Like what kind of emergency?"
"Um…" Whatever it was, Duke was either making it up or it was embarrassing. "Well, my cousin's home by herself, and I wasn't sure exactly what she said, but I think she accidentally set off the smoke alarms cooking something…" he shook his head. "Anyway, I gotta go. Sorry. I'll see you at school." Duke took off.
Ari headed toward the other exit, needing to step outside and get away from everyone for a moment. She shoved open the doors and sat down on a bench just outside.
//Amber, I'm done. You had your fun. You take over.//
/Fine. Did it go badly?/
//No. Duke had to leave early.//
/Oh./
Amber glanced around. It felt good outside. She started to lean back and close her eyes but jumped up abruptly when she heard a rustling. Amber slowly stood up and inched down the building until she spotted two figures standing about ten feet away. She ducked behind a bush and bit her lip to keep from cracking up. She inched away and slide back into the school.
"Amber, what's the rush?" Kristian appeared behind her.
"Looking for you. Come here." Amber dragged Kristian into a corner where no one could here them.
"I was went outside and…" Amber giggled. "Marik and Angel are out there making out!!!" Amber burst into a fit of giggles.
"Wow, really?!?!" Kristian started giggling too. "But that's so unlike her, so not Angel! Maybe I shouldn't be hanging around her, I'm starting to rub off on her."
"So not Angel. Remember when she swore she'd never kiss a guy until she was in college? And that was only a couple years ago when she made that promise…"
"Yeah, well. People change, I guess." Amber rolled her eyes as Kristian took off and ran up to Seto.
"Are you coming, Kristian?" Angel called impatiently over her shoulder. Amber was already in the car. She tried not to think about Marik as she climbed in.
"No, I'll walk home," Kristian answered. "Ok, mom?" she called to her mother, who was driving. Without waiting for an answer, she ran back toward the building.
"It's going to rain soon," Kristian noted, glancing up at the sky. But she didn't care. This was all she wanted, walking with Seto under the stars and the full moon. She shivered. It could have been warmer, though.
"You cold, Kristian?" Seto asked. He threw her his trench coat when she nodded. Kristian thankfully wrapped it around herself.
"I really like you, Kristian," Seto said affectionately, pulling her closer. Kristian smiled.
"I like you, too." Kristian looked up at the sky as it began to drizzle. Soon, it was raining, past a sprinkle but not too hard. Seto pulled out his umbrella and held it over the both of them.
"Thanks," Kristian murmured.
Soon, much too soon, as Kristian thought, they were walking up her driveway. When they reached her doorstep, Kristian and Seto were both soaked, despite the umbrella. It was still raining. Seto tied the umbrella back up and handed it to Kristian. She leaned it on the door and wrapped the trench coat tighter around her.
"Thank you, Seto," Kristian said.
"I thank you, too, Kristian," he murmured back.
And then he was pulling her closer, leaning in towards her, and she was leaning towards him. The rain pounded on the overhang above them. And they kissed. A long, deep, true kiss that Kristian had never achieved with anyone else. She loved it. She wanted time to freeze here, because this was all that she needed, was Seto. She held onto him as long as she could.
And he pulled away. She handed him back his trench coat and umbrella.
"Bye, Kristian. See you at school." And he was gone.
"Goodbye, Seto."
Amber stood impatiently outside the grocery store. When Kristian had gotten home, they had all left for the store. They were supposed to meet each other outside after getting their assigned `party essentials'. Meaning, Kristian was supposed to buy the chips, Amber the soda, and Angel the candy. And Amber had finished first.
She tapped her foot impatiently, standing next to the soda, which she had put on the ground.
And very suddenly, a bright flash of light blinded her. She tried to bring her eyes in focus, but all she saw was a circle of mist on the ground.
And then someone was arising out of the mist. Amber backed up and tripped over the soda.
"Who are you?" she whispered.
