Yu-Gi-Oh! Fan Fiction ❯ The Best Christmas Ever! ❯ Day 3 ( Chapter 3 )
*~Tuesday: December the Tenth~*
It was Tuesday, December tenth, 2002. Today was Day 3 of Christmas Preparation at Domino High, and it was gonna be a really fun day today. Today was SLEEPOVER DAY!!! YAY!!! ^-^ Well, actually, maybe I should be saying Sleepover Night. It's 8:00 P.M. I mean who would want to spend a whole day in a school from 8:15 A.M. til the rest of the day? So, it's SLEEPOVER NIGHT!!! YAY!!!(again!)^-^ The school was full of students from all four grades. Seniors were in the cafeteria. Juniors were in the library. Sophmores were in the dance room. And last but of course not least, the freshmen were in the best place in the entire school. The gymnasium! This day was really cool. There were no teachers or adults around whatsoever. The kids could go into the other grades' sleep area and hang out. They could buy food and drinks from the vending machines. They could write all over the chalkboards. They could even insult the teachers. But they would have to erase the remarks of course. They could open up the gym's storage room and play some games. The science lab's mice could be let loose too. It would be really funny to dress up the lab's skeleton. They could also play dress-up with drama club's costumes, maybe even perform on stage! The scripts are in there, and some of the students are techies for the school's shows and performances. There was no limit to what the kids could do. They could even sneak into the principal's office and the teacher's lounge if they really wanted to!^.^ They could make funny announcements on the P.A. system. The only thing that they couldn't do was go outside. Who would want to, when you can have so much fun fooling around with the stuff that teachers and adults didn't let you touch! They also had to be in their sleeping area by 11:00 P.M.
"Take that!" Joey yelled out from the stage.
"No way!" Tristan yelled back at him.
The two were dressed in medieval-like costumes and waved around plasic swords. The two were about act out the final blow, when there was a blast of music coming from the theater's speakers. It was The Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy from The Nutcracker. The back curtain suddenly opened and revealed a background of The Land of Sweets.
"What's going on here?" Joey wondered.
"Joey! Tristan! Get off the stage!" Téa's voice yelled out.
"Okay okay!" The guys got off the stage.
"Could you start it over Yugi?" she yelled to Yugi, who was backstage at the controls.
"Okay." Yugi pressed rewind and the song started again from the beginning.
"What's going on?" Yami asked as the lights dimmed.
"Shhh. Just look at the stage." Mai pointed to the stage. A spotlight was the only light and seemed to point at a certain corner of the stage. Then a figure in a pale white stepped out.
"It's Téa." Tristan said.
Téa started taking some kind of steps that was going along with the music's slow beat. She moved arms gracefully. She did turns and jumped a few times. When she landed those jumps, it didn't make a noise at all. She was as light as a feather.
"She dances so beautifully..." Yami watched her with awe.
"Huh?" Oh, I get it." Mai had overheard what Yami had said. She put an arm over his shoulder. "So Yami, what are you gonna get her for a Christmas present?" Mai smiled slyly. Yami's nose went red.
"Ooooh. Yami's blushing" Bakura laughed.
"Why don't you ask her what she wants, she's coming this way." Tristan joked around.
"Hey guys. I was just practicing for my performance next Wednesday. I'm the Sugar Plum Fairy in the Nutcracker next week." Téa walked up to them. Yami stared at her, saying nothing and blushing.
"Go on. Go on Yami ask her." Mai started to nudge him.
"Oh, right. Uh... Téa. Um...I...." But before he could finish his sentence, a boring-sounding voice came on the P.A. system.
"Good Morning all students. Today, we will be looking at my toenail collection." the boring voice droned. All the kids in the school burst out laughing. Even the voice on the P.A.
"Hey it's Joey." Bakura said, trying to suppress his laughter.
"That's right.(laugh) Today, we're also gonna have nothing but candy for lunch, instead of that crappy cafeteria food. And I'd like to apologize for all the rotten things that I've done to all of you. After all, it's entirely MY fault that I made up some stupid rules for you to follow. I'd especially want to say sorry to Mr. Joey Wheeler. I'm so sorry for giving him detention last week and I'm also sorry for making him scrape gum off the bleachers." the "principal" continued, trying to contain his laughter. "Hey, it's 11:00, fun's over people."
So, the kids all went back to their assigned sleeping area. Joey, Tristan, and Téa had changed back into their pajamas and put all the props and other stuff away and they went back into the gym. All of the students had gone to sleep in their sleeping bags, except for maybe a few still whispering and gossiping here and there.
"So Téa, what are you gonna get Yami tomorrow?" Mai whispered to the sleeping bag across from her.
"What do you mean?" Téa whispered back.
"Well, you know, it's Yami's first Christmas. I think that you should make it really special for him." Mai said.
"Sure, Christmas should be really special for him. But I'm not sure what to give him for a present." she said.
"You'll probably find something for him at the mall tomorrow."
"Yeah." Téa sighed.
"Hey, I wonder what he's going to get you for Christmas." Mai brought up. The two continued their conversation, not knowing that Yami was actually awake in his sleeping bag, listening to every word that they said. And of course, he started to think about what to get his friends for Christmas.
"Why don't you ask him?" That was the next thing that Yami had heard after he escaped his thoughts.
"What?! No!" Téa snapped back quietly.
"C'mon, you'll never know unless you ask him!" Mai's whisper got louder.
"All right, I'll ask. I don't want your voice to get any louder than it already is." Téa got out of her sleeping bag and crawled over to Yami's. Yami quickly closed his eyes and pretended to be asleep.
"Hey, Yami." Téa started to shake Yami's shoulder slightly. Yami immediately opened his eyes.
"Yes Téa?" he said.
"Um, I know this is your first Christmas. So, do you want anything special as a present?"
"Well, what do you want?" he asked.
"Me? Well, I don't know. What I want to know is what you want." Téa asked eagerly, her nose red.
"Really Téa, you don't have to get me anything." Yami insisted. "I would rather get you something. What do you want?"
"I don't know really." Téa laughed nervously.
"Well, maybe we'll find out tomorrow. Good night." Yami laid back down and closed his eyes.
"Good night." Téa said quietly.
