Last Time:

Kesi got up to leave, dusting her outfit off. She was just about to head off when a hand grabbed hers and yanked her backwards. She was met with the alcohol-smelling, glaring guard. He reached for her neck and held the pendant between his gloved index finger and thumb.

"Just where did you get this?"

---------------

Kesi recoiled and took a step backwards. "Answer me! Did you steal it?"

"N-No!" Kesi insisted, but the guard didn't seem to believe her.

"Arrest her!" he yelled, and ten other soldiers ran over.

Kesi froze for a split second before natural instincts kicked in and she ran, ignoring the shouts. Her bare feet pounded painfully on the packed ground, each movement sending a jolt of pain through her ankle. Kesi kept running.

A shock of fear shot through her adrenaline packed body as she noticed a figure running alongside her on the lowest part of the rooftops. Kesi ground her teeth together and kept running, disregarding the guard's shouts of `Stop the thief!' and `Catch her!'

Kesi didn't notice the rock in front of her, but she felt a sharp sting of pain on her toes, and she felt herself falling, almost as if in slow motion. She closed her eyes and instinctively threw her hands out to break her fall - which never came.

Her feet were lifted up off the ground, and she felt herself being squished together, and an arm going under her knees and back. When she opened her tightly squeezed eyes, what she saw almost made her heart stop. It was Bakura.

He was running swiftly forwards towards a black horse. When he reached the horse, he wordlessly tossed her on and jumped on behind her. With a sharp cry from Bakura, the horse started galloping rapidly forwards, seemingly invincible to the weapons whizzing past their ears.

It seemed like forever until Kesi couldn't hear the guards. A few more minutes in awkward silence past and then they reached a burned down village. Kesi spotted a house that was in better condition than all the others, right in the middle. She frowned. That seemed odd..

Bakura's horse stopped and he jumped off, walking towards the house. Kesi slid off the animal and then looked up at it. It was huge. Intelligent black eyes were surrounded by gleaming, smooth black fur. The horse seemed to regard her for a minute with judging, piercing eyes. Then Kesi could have sworn she saw a twinkle in its eye as the horse leaned down and nudged her with its soft nose.

Kesi ran her hand over the smooth fur, and her eyes widened when she heard an unfamiliar voice. "So, she likes you, does she?"

When she whirled around she was met with the sight of another man, no doubt Bakura's comrade. He was tall, probably the same height as Bakura. He had odd purple eyes, which, like Bakura's, protested his sanity. Blonde hair hung down just past his shoulder blades, and was spiked in an intricate pattern. A gold band covered his muscled upper arm, which was bared by a black, sleeveless shirt.

A pattern of gold bands covered his wrist to just before his elbow, and gold earrings hung from his ears. A purple cape hung from his shoulders hanging down to his knees, slightly ripped at the ends, and he wore beige-colored pants. Black paint covered the outline of his eyes, completing the exotic look.

Kesi stuttered. "Erm.. Yeah.. I guess so.."

The man chuckled immorally at her obvious fear. "Who are you?"

Bakura emerged just then, with an apple in his hand. "Kesi, this is Marik. Marik, this is Kesi." He turned to Marik, and said something Kesi could barely catch. "She is not for eating, sleeping with, toying with, torturing, or anything else that you like to do with women."

Marik glared at him. "I may be dishonest, but I'm not going to touch your girl."

Bakura smacked Marik over the head. "She is not my girl."

Marik smirked. "Then why can't I - " He was cut off by a glare from Bakura.

Kesi shrunk back. `Okay.. I thought Bakura was sadistic enough..' Bakura stormed inside and Marik glared after him. "Fine. Come in already." He said to Kesi, and walked inside. Kesi followed him, and shut the door behind her.
