Chapter 4: The Dark Void Appears

"Let me go, Kaiba!" Kima swatted at Seto Kaiba's head with her fist. Kaiba had Kima's right arm gripped tightly with his hand. He backed her up against the wall of an old warehouse in the back alley near Domino High. It was nearing sundown and no one was around. It was just Kima and Kaiba.

"I don't know what you are trying to do to me but let me get something straight with you, Kima." Kaiba loosened his grip a bit. He could see in Kima's eyes that he was pressing too hard and probably would make a mark on her arm. "I don't know what you were trying to pull with all those stupid visions in my head but I'm telling you right now that I'm not going to fall for your stupid antics. I don't know who you think you are trying to use some weird magic to put in those visions of Yami, you and I. You can do all you like but don't go thinking that I'm going to believe what you want me to believe. I know who I am and there is nothing that will change that." Kaiba let go rather harshly of Kima's arm.

"Kaiba, whether or not you want to know the truth about our past doesn't matter to me. I had to tell you who I really am and who you really are so that you wouldn't get hurt. I have been in danger for a while now. That is why I moved here to Domino. But unfortunally, I was not able to escape the danger. Now I have a feeling that both you and Yami are in danger since you have been involved in my past. I don't know what's going to happen in the future between us all but all I know is that you have to come to terms with your past. In ancient Egypt, Kaiba, you were a sorcerer who became jealous of the Pharaoh, Yami. I won't go into details about your jealousy. I was a princess who possessed some powers given to me by my father who killed before I even knew him. But the only difference from then and now is that before my name was Princess Minka. But my real name is Kima. Don't you see Kaiba? Things are not always as they seem." Kima took a step toward Kaiba. He gave a little smirk then walked away.

I must make Kaiba understand. I have to do all I can. Even if he is so arrogant and cocky. I can't let him get hurt.

Yugi looked out the window staring at the pouring rain outside. The streets looked like rivers. It never had gotten that bad. The doorbell rang throughout the house. Grandpa Motou was out for a few days so Yugi had the house to himself. Well, maybe not entirely to himself. There was the spirit of the Millennium Puzzle.

Yugi ran down the stairs and opened the door. He stared into the eyes of Kima.

"Hi Yugi!" Kima waved her hand in a small gesture. Yugi looked down at the ground.

"Hi Kima. Come on in." Yugi stepped aside. When Kima was inside the house, Yugi closed the door.

"Listen Yugi. I know that it's a little awkward right now with everything that happened. And I also know that you probably don't see me the way that you used to since you learned who I really am." Kima slumped against the wall.

"Kima, you don't need to worry about me. Yami hasn't said a word for a while. I don't know what to think anymore to tell you the truth." Yugi looked down at his feet.

"I understand. But hey, let's not think about that anymore. I came here to talk to you about Kaiba." Yugi looked up at Kima in surprise. Kima rolled up her sleeve on her green sweater revealing a bruise on her right arm. "I think Kaiba has become afraid to face the truth about himself and his destiny. If he doesn't face his past, he could be in great danger, Yugi. Remember the witches?" Yugi nodded but in a strange way. "They want to destroy me and in order to do that, they may come after Kaiba and all my friends. Yami, Joey, Tristan, Tea, Bakura, and you. I just can't help Kaiba if he doesn't want to listen to me." Kima looked down at her bruise. Yami appeared and narrowed his eyes. He grabbed Kima's shoulders rather roughly.

"Did Kaiba do this to you? Did Kaiba give you this bruise, Kima?" Kima blinked several times.

"It's not serious, Yami. It's not what you think. Don't go making a big deal of it." Yami growled.

"It is a big deal. Every little bit of pain is a big deal." Yami wrapped his arms around Kima. "I will protect you, Kima! No one can hurt you and get away with it. Not the witches. Not Kaiba!" Yami let go and started walking. He opened the door and ran into the rain.

"Yami please!!" Kima screamed but it was too late. He had already left. Kima ran out the door. I must follow him. Yami's going to fight with Kaiba. I just know it. I can't let them two fight. If they do, then something bad is going to happen.

Yami jumped the gate to Kaiba mansion. He banged on the door. A little while longer, the door opened and it was a butler.

"I must talk to Seto Kaiba. Is he here?" Yami asked. He tried to hide his anger.

"He is in the library. Would you like me to show you the way?"

"No thank you." Yami started to run. He knew where the library was anyways.

Kaiba sat in a lounge chair reading a book. He heard footsteps that sounded like they were running. He looked up from his book. Yami showed up at the door with angry eyes.

"Kaiba!" Yami curled up his hands in a fist. Kaiba stood up, aware that Yami was angry about something that he did.

"What are you doing here, Yami? I think I should fire whoever allowed you to come in." Kaiba placed his book down on the chair and crossed his arms.

"Kaiba, how dare you hurt Kima. She tried to protect you and all you could do was hurt her. I will not allow that. I don't care what your excuse is." Kaiba narrowed his eyes and stared at Yami. The Millennium symbol flared on Yami's forehead and the room started to get darker.

"YAMI!! KAIBA!! STOP!!" Kima cried out. She tried to run to them but something that looked liked black rope grabbed Kima's arms and legs and started to pull her back. Yami turned around and ran toward Kima. A dark hole spread under Kaiba and he dropped into darkness. Yami grabbed the dark stuff around Kima's arms but they started to spread across her whole body. Yami looked up to see Kima's eyes begin to get bloodshot. Yami noticed that she was loosing oxygen. With all the power in he world, Yami grabbed the black substance that was around her neck and yanked it with all he got. The substance released Kima and she fell into Yami's arms. He looked down but her eyes were closed. He brought his ear up to her mouth to make sure she was breathing, which she was.

Yami looked around what used to be Kaiba's library. Yami couldn't see anything. It was all dark in there. This almost reminds me of the Shadow Realm, but I sense that this is something much more evil. This is the same place I was before when the witches tried to hurt Kima in her dream. Yami stood up and held Kima in his arms. He took a step backward and his foot gave way to the nothingness. The black substance grabbed hold of Kima's right ankle and held her as Yami fell through the darkness. Yami's head hit something hard and he felt a sudden jolt of pain running through him. He closed his eyes and slumped to the ground like a lifeless body.
