When the hand clamped over his mouth Bakura's eyes widened in shock, he was about to kick the man in a rather sensitive spot when he felt a sharp object pressing against his back.

"I wouldn't try anything stupid if I were you, just come quietly."

Bakura obeyed, cursing himself mentally for being so stupid as to get caught. The man, followed by the guards, took Bakura roughly by the arm and walked him over to a group of horses.

"Get on," the man said gruffly.

Bakura swung himself onto the great beast, and the man jumped onto the horse, right behind him. The strange man flicked the reins, and the horse began to gallop across the dunes and into the night.

"Get up," someone said, kicking Bakura. Moaning, Bakura did so, ruefully rubbing his right rib where he had so recently been kicked.

"The High Priest Math* requests your presence," the man said, and told Bakura to follow a boy who appeared.

The boy was around his age and had brown hair and cold blue eyes, he was rather tall for his age, and stood almost a head taller than Bakura. The boy frowned at Bakura, but said nothing, leading him through a network of hallways, finally stopping in front of a wooden door. Opening the door, the brown-haired boy led a very confused Bakura into the room. Bakura stared around the room, and noticed a man, he stood partially in the shadows but the outline of his frame was visible, his features indistinguishable in the bad light, but the thief could tell that he was a tall man with a thin frame. His shoulders were slightly stooped for he getting along in his years and had bad posture. When the man stepped out of the dim shadows, Bakura saw that he had hazel eyes, and short black hair.

"What is the meaning of this?" The man questioned of the boy, who stood beside Bakura.

The boy straightened and said, "On your orders, this boy was sent for." The boy's voice seemed almost to mock the High Priest, but that couldn't possibly be true, could it? Bakura wondered.

"I definitely never ordered for a filthy street rat to be sent to my private prayer room, now leave, both of you."

"Yes, sir," Now Bakura knew he wasn't imagining things. The boy's voice was obviously laced with sarcasm, he mustn't even respect the High Priest, if he doesn't even respect him, then who could he possibly respect? So deep was his thinking, that the white-haired thief failed to notice the glare he was getting by the other boy, and therefore jumped in surprise as he was kicked for the second time that day.

The brown-haired boy told Bakura to follow him, once they were again in the halls did the boy turn to the thief and tell him to follow. Bakura did as the taller boy instructed, and they soon ended up before a door. The brown haired youth opened the door, and ushered him in. The room was sparsely furnished. Only a cot and a water basin decorated the bare room. A single window let in the unfiltered Egyptian sun, causing a line of dazzling sunlight to separate the room.

As Bakura looked around the other boy pulled a wry smile, "Isn't it grand? I really live in style, don't I?"

Bakura blinked. Now his statement fairly dripped with sarcasm.

"I will now tell you a story, about a boy who was wronged by his greedy uncle, the Pharaoh. Take a seat, this story is a long one."

Bakura sat on the floor, and watched the boy, who sat cross-legged on the cot.

"It all started long before the child was born. Like so many great stories, it contained greed and lust, hatred and betrayal, and of course, love…"

LusciousDragon: OK, so the ending wasn't exactly holding you on the edge of your seat, but I promise, it WILL get BETTER!!!!!!!!!!

* = This star is there because basically, this story takes place before Seth becomes High Priest, and before Yami becomes Pharaoh. So the Pharaoh at the time, is actually Yami's father… And someone else's uncle… Dude, I wonder who that is…
