Everyone is searching for a new world
To achieve that overflowing dream
Jumping over the horizon
Not knowing what's beyond there
We've been running
Jumping into hope, only to forget courage
Being swept away by the crowd
We lost something important
Yes! Yes!
Yes! Yes!
I slaugh with a frown
That was the best smile I could make now
The mask overflowed with tears
And over the soggy mask
I once again hide myself with a new mask
I continue to walk along the flat battle field
Unable to wrap and struggling, yeah!
At a far cape, the dream
Waits patiently
Even with a clumsy search
I can probably arrive there
Yes! Yes!
Yes! Yes!
I always turn my gaze away
The unseen heart invited
Me to run away
But at night I look up to the stars
Looking through binoculars
Searching for my place
I continue along the balanced battle field
Grabbing onto an unwithering flower, yeah!
The far cape, I'm
Beginning to her near even if I lose my way
The waves will probably tell me
Searching for a new world, hesitation and
Confusion, I probably knew it
If I don't stand and step out
There's something I can't obtain
Everyone is searching for a new world
To achieve that overflowing dream
Jumping over the horizon
Aiming for the cape of hope.
Yes! Yes!
Yes! Yes!
Yes! Yes!
Ch.20: Deadly Hide and Seek
Two monsters occupied the night sky as the thief and the young king on horses ran to the city.
`So that's the second of the gods that only the Pharaoh can summon!!' Bakura thought. `Diabound, let's say hello! Attack him with your new power!' Diabound slightly turned to face the dragon like god and shot a huge energy balls at it, but it quickly dodged it. The young ruler was a bit lost until he called out his explaining. “Diabound steals the abilities of his enemies he defeats! I got this Magic Blast from the Magus of Illusion! The spirit of that priest who was cut to ribbons!”
`Mahado!!' Atem thought.
Diabound continued to shoot magic orbs and Slifer continued to dodge quickly. Bakura growled. “He's fast…”
Slifer then dived and looked as though he's imitating a bullet. “Bakura!” Atem called. “Feel the wrath of the gods!! Slifer the Sky Dragon, attack!” The dragon obeyed by opening its second mouth and an orb of strong energy in its mouth. “Summon Lightning Strike!” A lightning-like stream went towards Daibound.
“Don't forget Diabound's other power…” Bakura said as Diabound disappeared. “He's hidden underground!!”
Atem was alarmed and looked behind him to see mounds of earth heading towards him.
“Run! Run!!” Bakura taunted. “See if you can out run the fuse of death! Well, `Great Pharaoh'?”
Atem moved his horse quickly to the side, just in time as Diabound appeared next to him and looked as though it was ready to strike.
“Die…” Bakura said as his spirit beast gathered a ball of energy until Slifer came down between them and let out its attack on Diabound.
“Lightning Strike!!” The attack pushed Diabound a good ways away, which also caused damage to the thief.
`So that's the lightning of the Dragon of Heaven!' Bakura thought. `That actually hurt…'
`I have to hunt him down!' The Pharaoh thought as he saw Heba, still unconscious and her temple had dried blood on it from the impact.
They entered the city and the mad thief smiled. `For a better world, for the good of the people! That's your creed, isn't it Pharaoh? Then let's see how many innocents you can save!' He thought as his monster loomed over the part they were in the city.
`Oh no! He's flying too low!' Atem thought. `He's going to hurt people in the city! Slifer! To me!' The dragon obeyed by going lower.
Bakura laughed. “Come one, come all! It's the Pharaoh's Grand Parade! Now Pharaoh… Let's begin the killing game!! See how many of these fools you can save!”
“A huge monster in the sky!” Said a villager.
“What monster?! I can't see anything!” Said another. “Run for it!”
“Diabound, my glorious spirit! Destroy the city! Slaughter them! Magic Blast!” Bakura said as Diabound let out rounds of magic orbs hitting buildings and causing damage.
The young king was shocked and concerned as the people ran and screamed. `Slifer!!' He thought and the dragon came down and became a shield as the blasts came down, which caused him some pain.
“So, you shield them by taking the attacks yourself.” Bakura said. “But how long can you last? `Great Pharaoh'?” When some of the smoke cleared, he chuckled. “You're trapped! If you move and inch, the people below become my target!!”
Atem looked hurt but was mostly pissed and thought. `He's attacking the people to force me to use Slifer as a shield!'
“One blow from Diabound will be enough to kill your so-called `god'! Spiral Wave!!” Diabound started to gather energy for its favored attack.
`Even Slifer can't survive that attack from behind!' Atem thought. `There's just one chance… I have to be faster then he is…' He then called. “Lightning Strike!!” The dragon let out its attack towards the ground, which pushed it up in the air.
“What?!” Bakura said with a surprised look. “He fired at the ground to get himself airborne!?”
“Now I spin in mid-air…” Atem said as the dragon spinned to face Diabound. “To set up a second… Lightning Strike!!” Slifer shot out its attack, which canceled the nearly completed Spiral Wave attack.
The thief was shocked. `He's so fast!! I can't finish the Spiral Wave!'
`I've got to take this battle somewhere safer!' Atem thought as he called. “Slifer! Pull Diabound into the air!” Slifer went up and wrapped its tail around the other monsters wrists and pulled them towards the night sky.
`What?!' Bakura thought as the dragon released the other as soon as they were high enough.
“Now your attacks can't reach the city!!” Atem said. “And in the air, you can't use Diabound's ability to walk through walls!!”
`Of course! In the open air, Slifer's Divine Lightning will be even stronger!'
“Slifer attack!!” The dragon gathered energy for an attack.
Bakura laughed. “But if your god controls the Heavens, then my Diabound controls the night!”
“Thunder Force!!” The dragon fired and it was headed towards Diabound… “What?!!” Atem said as Diabound disappeared into the night. `Diabound is gone…!'
“Didn't I tell you, Pharaoh?” Bakura said with a proud smile. “Diabound has a new power! He can blend into his surroundings! Right now, Diabound is one with the darkness of the Heavens!!” Unknown to him, Heba was slowly regaining consciousness.
`What…?!' Atem thought. `Diabound can hide himself no matter where he is?! It's like he's invisible!'
“This raises the difficulty level of the game.” Bakura chuckled as he watched from a cliff as an explosion was heard in a part of the city, which alarmed the young king. He laughed. “You'd better find him before there's more victims!”
Atem slightly growled. `I have to stop this slaughter!' He thought.
“My attacks come unseen from the dark…” Bakura said as Heba blinked a couple of times. `And the next target is…' He thought as an energy stream hit Slifer behind. `Your god!'
Slifer roared out in pain, making the young ruler hold his chest.
The thief laughed. “In the battleground of the shadows, no one can defeat my Diabound… Not even a god!”
“Slifer!!” Heba called as she remembered that she was attacked by Bakura on the head and was knocked out.
“Well, `Great Pharaoh'?” Bakura said, completely ignoring her. “How will you fight Diabound when he's one with the shadows?”
Slifer looked awful but was still there. `I can't believe it…' Atem thought, slowly recovering from the last attack. `It can hide in the darkness between the stars… If Slifer takes another surprise attack, it's finished! Not only that… from the sky, he can attack anywhere in the city! I must protect those innocent lives!!' He then looked determined. `And get Heba away from that son of a bitch!' He rode up to where Bakura was, who was holding Heba's wrist as she tried to get away.
“Now do you see?” The thief said with a satisfied smile. “Even the royal power of the Pharaoh is nothing before me! Whether they're men or gods, all lives are in my hands!” He showed his bloodied hand, which was holding Heba hostage, as if making a point. Then he looked serious. “Let me tell you why, `Great Pharaoh'… The blood on my hands… this thirst for death… Is the will of the Millennium Items.”
`The will of the Millennium Items?!' Both Heba and Atem thought while Bakura looked excited.
“The thieves of Kul Elna sealed within the Millennium Items speak to me from the depths of Hell! The one who gathers all seven Millennium Items will be granted the shadow power and will rule the world!”
`This guy's out of his mind!' Heba thought as she had a memory flash of someone who used to be like that.
“Now…” Bakura continued. “Pharaoh, give me the Millennium Pendant… If you don't, I'll bombard this city until it looks like the desert around it…” He lifted her arm up. “And her blood will paint that desert!”
She whimpered from the tight grip. “Don't do it!” She called to the young king
Atem slightly growled and thought. `Diabound is hidden in the shadows… He can attack the city whenever he wants to… I can't let anymore innocent people die…' He sighed as he started to get his item off.
“Atem…” Heba whispered while Bakura chuckled.
`No matter what you do, I'm going to kill you anyway…' He thought with a smile.
Atem looked somewhat troubled as he thought. `If Bakura gets all of the Millennium Items, this world will be condemned to eternal night…' He then became aware of Slifer's condition. `Slifer still has some power left…' He then had a plan in mind. `There is one way to draw Diabound out of hiding so I know its location… Slifer! Hear my thoughts!' He then held out his item for the thief to see.
“So you're going to do it the easy way…” Bakura said as Heba looked shocked.
`Oh Atem…'
`Four seconds… No, three seconds while Bakura's attention is on the Millennium Pendant…' The young king thought as the dragon started to head down towards the thief. `Slifer… surprise him! Attack Bakura!'
“Wha…!!” Bakura noticed as he looked up.
`All right!' Heba thought as she smiled until she felt something bad coming on.
`This is my chance!!' Atem thought. `He must Diabound to protect himself. Do it, Bakura!'
But the thief didn't move or call out his beast. Instead he smiled triumphly as the dragon stopped and at the same time Heba called out.
“Atem! Watch out!”
Atem then saw the tips of Diabound's claws near his face.
Bakura laughed. “Who said that Diabound was hiding in the sky?! Better luck next time, Pharaoh!”
“Atem!” Heba called as she tried to get the thief's grip off of her as the young king was motionless as the sharp claws are near his face.
“Even the swiftest of the gods can't move a muscle while its master is held hostage…”
“You're horrible!” Heba yelled, but the mad thief ignored her.
“My goal is to get all the Millennium Items. I can't do that as long as you're here.”
`No…' The young king thought as Heba went wide eyed and looked at him.
“Don't worry Pharaoh… You won't be alone…” Bakura held up her arm again. “After I take care of you, then she's next!” He chuckled as he said. “Muut”
“ATEM!!” Heba called.
The site of blood was shown but it belonged to Diabound as its hand was cut off by another monster, which caused pain for the thief and let Heba go, which she ran towards the Pharaoh.
`That's…' Atem thought as he recognized the monster that saved him. `That's Duos, Seth's spirit!'
Soon two more monsters joined and he looked back to see the three priests arrived.
`The priests!' Both he and Heba thought.
`We're just in time!!' Seth thought as they headed up to him.
“Are you alright, my Pharaoh?” Kalim asked.
“Yes!!” The young king answered as Kalim saw Heba.
“I'm alright!” She answered his unasked question.
“Those scum!” Bakura mumbled.
Seth then looked alarmed. “Look out! Diabound is- -“ He said as everyone looked to see the monster up into the night sky, which started to blend into.
“It's going to hide in the darkness for another surprise attack!!” Atem said.
“Bakura's vanished too!” Shada said as only dust was shown where Bakura once stood.
“Listen up!” Atem shouted. “We must protect the people! We can't let Bakura continue his killing spree!!”
Heba nodded in agreement.
“It's totally invisible…” Shada said.
“Even if we can't see him, we must not fear!” Seth said. “Muster your ka! Aim you attacks at the sky!”
“Seth-sama! Wait a min-“ Heba said but the monsters already took flight to the sky and Zerua was taken out immediately, causing Shada to grab his chest as he felt that pain done to his monster.
While somewhere in the shadows, Bakura smiled. “As long as the shadows exist, no one can match me in city warfare… The Nile will flow red with the blood of the priests and the people who serve you…”
Atem glared as he thought. `Bakura… I'll defeat you no matter what!'
“The attack from the shadows destroyed Shada's ka!” One of the men that came with the priests said.
Shada held onto his chest when Seth said. “Don't give in yet, Shada!! As long as we have an ounce of ba, we have to keep fighting!”
“Yes!” Shada said as Seth continued.
“The moment we turn our backs to the darkness is the moment the kingdom falls!!” He then turned to the men. “The cavalry is to follow Bakura!! The guard will evacuate the city! Open the palace to the refugees!”
“Yes sir!” The men said.
Seth grabbed Heba by the back of her shirt. “Take her with you!” He ordered.
“W-Wait!” She said as she struggled.
“You'll just be in the way!” Seth said coldly, making her numb as she and the men went farther away from the group.
For awhile she could only hear Seth's cold words. `Maybe I am in the way… I don't know how to fight… and I could only summon small leveled monsters… I don't know how to summon my own and do I even have my own ka monster? If I did… it probably be like a Kuriboh or a Wata Pon…'
`Do not think that way, young one…' She heard a voice. `Who are you?' `Who I am called is not important at the moment, but if you see me as an advisor… I will not mind.' `How do I know you're helping me?' `It is whether you decided to trust me or not… but I'll tell you that what Seth had said to you, isn't true.' `How's that?' The voice chuckled kindly. `You don't know this, but you have something that no one, not even Bakura, can have.' `And what's that?' `You shall see, but first you have to get back to the Pharaoh, he needs you now more then ever.' `How do you know?' `For now, I can not tell you, but I ask you to trust me. Now go… and help the Pharaoh…' With that the voice disappeared. She thought about it and remembered what Seth said. `No! I can help!' She struggled successfully out of the guard's grasp. Even though she hit the ground hard, she was able to get up, but realized she had a long way to get back and started to run against the panicked crowd.
Meanwhile, back with the group, Atem looked determined as he thought. `There has to be a way… A way to find him in the darkness…'
“Seth!” Kalim said. “Your Duos dealt Diabound a deep wound! With its hand cut off, it can't be as powerful as before! If the range of its Spiral Wave is shortened… We should be able to determine its position when it attacks! I'll use my ka as a decoy!! When it shows itself, everyone attack!”
Both Atem and Seth looked at Kalim. “Very well!” Seth said. “If I can hit Diabound with Duos's Aura Sword, the sword will mark its position!!”
“Let's do it!” Kalim said as he and Seth rode out.
“Shada!!” Seth called. “Protect the Pharaoh!”
`Seth!! Kalim!!' Atem thought as he tried to shake off the pain.
“Great Pharaoh!” Shada said noticed the other's condition. “You look unwell! The sky dragon was badly injured by Bakura's attacks! Not only that… If you continue to fight, Great Pharaoh, your life itself will be in danger! Please take Slifer and return to the palace! Leave the rest to us priests!!”
“I'll fight until the end!!” Atem said. “That's the duty of the Pharaoh!”

Feeling sad and lonely
Cause I can't find you
Call your telephone
Ad there's never no answer
Said you love me
Kissed me
We were in heaven
Said I'm sorry
Love you, want you forever
Every night I look at the sky
Call your name
And wonder where you are
Every night I look at the sky
Baby, miss you
Won't you come back
