*crying in a corner* I'm a bad authoress… I'm a bad authoress…
Bakura: *growls* Will you cut the pity crap already?!
Atem: When you haven't updated for almost a month, one would feel ashamed.
Bakura: Oh, and you would know?
Atem: After spending time with Cupid, yeah, you could say I know.
Bakura: … And people say I'm insane.
Atem: I'm still sane, but it's just that-
Bakura: Forget it!
Atem: *shrug* Fine. *holds up a sign* `Please R&R for this chapter and again, Cupid is very sorry for the very long delay.'

Like a shooting star
Across the midnight sky
Wherever you are
You're gonna see me fly
Like a shooting star
Across the midnight sky
Wherever you are
You're gonna see me fly!
Across the midnight sky~!
Where were you to hold my hand
Do the things that we had planned
Yes, I need you by my side
When things go crazy
I just need to know you care
Guaranteed that you'll be there
When I wake up in the night
Will you be my guiding light?
I don't care how far
I'll take a plane tonight
Just tell me where you are
And everything's gonna be alright
Like a shooting star
Across the midnight sky
Gonna fly
Just to be with you tonight
Like a shooting star
Across the midnight sky
Gonna fly
Just to be with you tonight
Ch. 28: Truths and Storm
~Modern Era~
Atem woke up with a start and looked around at the living room. `Okay, major dark vibe up the spine and it has to do with this Zorc guy… or thing…' He thought as he shivered. `Since when did it feel like winter all of a sudden?' He looked outside to see that it was raining. `That's odd… there wasn't suppose to be rain today.' He got up from the couch and headed to the shop part of the house.
“Hello Grandpa Mouto.” He said, making the old man look from his paper.
“Well hello `Sleeping Beauty'!” Grandpa teased.
“Very funny Grandpa Mouto.” Atem said as he looked at the rain outside the two glass doors. “Wasn't it suppose to be sunny?” He asked.
“That's what the weather report said.” Grandpa said. “But these things happen every now and then.”
Atem wasn't sure though, but kept that to himself and hoped that this weather won't last long as he headed up to the guest's room. He looked at the empty space and sighed.
“The time is near…” Said a voice.
“What?!” He said as he noticed the room's atmosphere stilled and he saw no one.
“The darkness it coming closer Atem… You must be on your guard.”
“Show yourself!”
“To uncover the truth of betrayal of a light soul, you must go to the one's location…”
“You're not making any sense!”
“Quickly! Before the darkness comes and befalls on all!”
“Who are you?!” He called once more, only to be responded by silence and the room seemed to return to normal. `What the hell?' He thought as he got out of the room.
“Atem!” Grandpa called.
“Yes?”
“I need you to do something for me!”
“Alright!” He said as he quickly reached to where the other was at.
“Ah! There you are!” Grandpa said as he placed a box on the counter. “Would you be a good lad and take these to the library?”
“The library?” Atem said as he looked at the inside of the box.
The box was filled with small cassette tapes and a tape recorder, what was no bigger than a small planner.
The elder nodded. “Yes, I walked by there the other day and overheard that they need tapes for the children who have a hard time learning how to read.”
Atem nodded. “Will do!” He said as he picked up the box and started to walk out, which stopped raining. `Must be just odd weather.' He thought.
As he walked down towards the library, he heard someone shout and curse. He went over to see what was up only to find Anzu shouting at her parents.
`To uncover the truth of betrayal…' He remembered what the strange voice said as he went up to a hiding place and listened to the argument.
“What has gotten into you?!” A woman's voice was heard.
“Why can't you be more like your friend Yugi?” A male voice. “She's a good gal to hang with.”
“Yugi! Yugi!” Anzu said. “It's always about her!”
“Now just a-“ The Father was about to say when Anzu cut him off.
“Why can't you be nice like Yugi? Why can't you be considerate like Yugi? Why can't you be more respectful like Yugi? Why can't you be more like Yugi?!” She screamed. Her parents were silent. “Well guess what!?” She continued. “I'm not Yugi! And I'm glad she's gone for good! Because now I can move on with my life without seeing her stupid face around haunting me!” She stomped away. “And another thing!” She turned towards her shocked stricken parents. “Her being missing is mostly your fault! Because you choose her over me! And good parents aren't suppose to do that!” She stomped away, passing the young man.
He felt somewhat sorry for her. Somewhat as the key word. He then had a suspicion about her and got his cell. “Hey, it's Atem… Do you think you could help me out with something?”
He found her in the mall, shopping, probably over charging her credit card to tick her parents off. “Anzu!” He called getting her attention.
She glared at him. “What do you want?”
“I overheard what you said to your parents.”
“So?”
“Well, I felt… somewhat sorry for you…” Again, `somewhat' as the key word. “I mean, it is rather unfair for your parents to look at you at what you don't have then what you do have. But I do have the question.”
“Well hurry up and say it, I don't have all day!” She said coldly.
“Was it you who signed the application for Yugi to attend to that school?”
“Empty your pockets!” She said, some color drained from her face.
He did, only to have his wallet, cell phone, and a few pocket change.
When she saw that, she smiled a crooked smile.
“What?” He said.
She gave a look that seemed to say she won and went up to him. “Yeah… I signed that application. The old fart was so easy to forge and much easier for how no one knew it was me.” She then giggled. “And you know my reason, but you don't even have proof of that, that's the sad part.” She put on a false cheerful smile and turned away. “Good luck trying to convince the police.”
He stood there watching her until she disappeared into the crowds. He sighed as she sat down next to someone on a bench, not far from where the conversation was taking place. “You got it?” He asked.
The person was wearing a black hat and an old looking black coat with the newspaper in front of it. The person set the paper down to reveal a familiar female face. “Every last crappy word from that bitch.” Lisa said with a smirk as she waved the tape recorder up.
He smiled as he looked across the other side from where they were sitting to see Moukaba with a camera.
Moukaba gave them the thumbs up.
“Now we just take them to the police?” Lisa asked.
“Yes.” He said as he grabbed the tape recorder.
“Can I at least do one little thing?”
He looked at her. “By `little thing', you mean causing a commotion and beat her as inhumanly as possible while cursing?”
“Yes.” She said simply and with a smile.
“Just don't get caught.”
“Seriously?”
He nodded. “But make it legal, alright? Just break a leg or two should do.”
Her dark eyes seem to shine more with that thought as Moukaba came up. “Not a problem!”
The young Kaiba looked confused. “What are we doing?”
“We're going to make Anzu suffer.”
“How?”
“By breaking two of her legs without being caught.”
Moukaba smiled. “Sounds like a lot of fun!” He said as he handed the disc to Atem before running off.
“See ya later Atem!” They said as they dashed off to find their victim.
Atem sighed as he started to head out of the mall and went over to the police station. On his way out of the police station, he saw a deserted playground and went over. He got onto on one of the swings while ignoring the ambulance rushing towards the mall. He remembered the few times he and Yugi would come to this park.
^Flashback^
It was spring break and Atem was being restless and active. Both he and Yugi were eight at the time and that spring was the Cherry Blossom Festival, a favored celebration. It was a few minutes before closing time and they were heading home, but he didn't feel tired. They went to the park and he grabbed Yugi by the hand and dragged her to the swings.
She sat down because, unlike her friend, she was a little tired. But the other started to push her, which surprised her a little but then started to laugh. There was a good gust of wind that brought in the cherry blossom pedals and its scent.
Another time was when they were eleven and it was after school on a very warm day and they got themselves ice cream and walked around the park.
Another time was their freshmen year, after the funeral of his father and it was a light drizzle and for three weeks they would come to the park after school whether or not its crowded or not.
^End of Flashback^
He sighed as he lightly pushed himself, only to go back and forth without him moving a muscle before getting up and head over to a flower shop. He purchased a rose and headed towards the cemetery, where he pictured himself and Yugi as children running around, but also tried to be quiet at the same time. He chuckled dryly as he continued walking towards his parent's graves. He replace the withered rose with the fresh one in a small vase in-between the two grave stones.
“Hey Mom. Hey Dad.” He said as he kneeled down. “Not much going on besides Yugi still being missing…” He looked at his mother's grave. “You know Yugi, she's the one who was here a month ago. Though you probably prefer to see her every time I'm here. But she has her folks to talk to as well.” He then looked at his father's grave. “What's it like for you? For you to fall in love with Mom?” He smiled a small smile. “I bet you two met at the dig and you liked her from the start. Smart, kind, and always finds a way to make a cold day warm. Yugi's the same way… but…” He took a deep breath of the moist air that signals a rain storm coming. “She's so strong in will and is always by your side when you need it…” He chuckled sadly. “And she doesn't even realize how strong and important she is…” He sighed. “Damn, I really have it bad, don't I?”
“No shit, Sherlock.”
He jumped at the voice only to see that it was only Bakura. “Damn it Bakura! Don't sneak up on me like that!”
Bakura shrugged. “Its fun seeing you spooked out now and again.”
Atem glared at him as he stood up and bowed towards the gravestones. “Excuse me, but I must go now until the next time I drop by.” He said as he straightened and he and Bakura walked out of the cemetery. “Where and how did you know about this place?” He asked.
Bakura sighed. “You really are a moron.” He said as he looked at him. “Everyone knows that this is your favorite quiet place.”
Atem sighed. “Is it really that obvious?”
Bakura gave him a look. “Would you stop acting like an idiot already! It's getting on my nerves!”
Atem put his hands up in defense. “Okay, okay.”
Bakura took a deep breath as he looked up. “Strange weather we're having…”
Atem looked up and saw that there were some dark clouds gathering. “Yeah…”
“Do you think this is the cause of what's happening in Egypt?”
“I did have a nasty vibe going down my spine earlier today.”
“See anything?”
“Disturbingly I have.”
“How?”
“I saw the Thief turn into sand for one thing.”
“What else?”
“One of the priests betrayed the Pharaoh me and I woke up seeing Zorc being summoned.”
“Zorc?”
“He's supposedly a dark god that would try to make the world of shadows.”
Bakura looked at him. “Well that explains the odd weather.”
Atem nodded when a huge gust of wind came in.
“Shit! It's cold!” Bakura said as he wrapped his arms around himself.
Atem looked seriously at the sky then looked at the other. “Listen!” The other looked up. “I'm having a bad feeling about this weather. You better find Ryou and the others and get them to the Gameshop.”
“What about you?”
“I don't know… I'll find a safe area where I can hopefully concentrate and see if I could get the Pharaoh me's attention.”
Bakura nodded and started to run but then turned to face the other. “Atem! Just don't hurt yourself!”
Atem smiled. “I may be an idiot, but I'm not stupid!”
Bakura rolled his eyes before he started to run again.
Atem stood there for a moment as the wind became a little stronger and it started to sprinkle. He looked up at the dark sky and thought. `Yugi… I hope everything is alright over there.' He turned and ran through the blinding rain, unaware of what struggles lay ahead for him and Egypt.

In my dreams I'll always see you soar above the sky
In my heart there'll always be a place for you
For all my life
When I think back on the times
And the dreams we left behind
I'll be glad cos I was blessed to get to have you in my life
When I look back on these days
I'll look and see your face
You were right there for me
In my dreams I'll always see you soar above the sky
In my heart there'll always be a place for you
For all my life I'll keep a part of you with me
And everywhere I am there you'll be
And everywhere I am there you'll be
