Ch. 29: Battle of the Dead

~Ancient Egypt~

The once blue sky is now a dark swirling vortex. The young king, still carrying the young girl in his arms, and the others went out of the shrine and saw the dark aura that threatened the land, possibly the world.

 

“If we don't defeat the Great Evil God,” Siamun said. “The world will be steeped in shadows. Our children… our lives and souls… will be sacrificed to never-ending darkness and evil.”

 

“LET'S GO!!” Atem shouted.

 

“Duos!” Seth called as his monster appeared. “Come forth!”

 

“Spiria, hear my call!” Isis summoned her monster.

 

Mana returned to her focusing stance and was prepared for whatever came.

 

Zorc started to chuckle and said. “You will crumble just like the land, Pharaoh!”

 

`Zorc!' Atem thought. `This is the final battle!' He placed Heba next to Mana before he faced the monstrosity with the two magicians by his side as well as the priests and the men.

 

Akhenaden, or the Dark Priest now, started to laugh. “Die along with the light!” He said. “Fall into the Shadows of Regret!!” The wind started to pick up, as if the forces of nature knew what would happen after the moment of silence is broken.

 

“Now is the time for us priests to join our power with the Pharaoh to defeat Zorc Necrophades!!” Siamun called as the said monstrosity laughed.

 

“I can snuff out your spirits…” He said. “Your weak souls… like you can snuff out a candle!”

 

Mahado took a stance to show he's ready to fight.

 

`Mahado!' Atem thought. `I will fight until my ba runs out!'

 

`Yes!' Mahado thought.

 

`Spirit who shares my soul…' Mana thought. `Give your power to my master!'

 

`Let's go, Mana!' Mahado thought.

 

`Yes, Master!' Mana thought as both looked as though they're powering up.

 

`Black Burning Magic!!' They summoned as a huge blast went towards Zorc.

 

“Yes!” Said one of the men. “The sorcerer's attack hit Zorc dead on!”

 

But that quickly changed to shock as they saw Zorc.

 

“That burned my fingertips…” He said making the magicians look alarmed.

 

“Mahado's greatest magic attack didn't even faze him…' Atem thought.

 

“Now it's my turn…” Zorc said as he swag his right arm around and quickly swung it towards the ground, causing the ground to lift up and blew some of the men off the ground.

 

“Great Pharaoh!” Shada said as he went in front of the young king and took most, if not all, of the shock wave that was aimed at the young ruler. When the attack was over, everyone got up.

 

“What power!” Siamun said in mild awe.

 

“Shada!!” Atem called as he held up the mentioned priest, but soon saw that he is dead.

 

The Dark Priest started to chuckle as he spoke. “Now there are only two priests left… The Pharaoh is wounded and no longer has the power to summon the gods…” He then saw Seth. “Haven't you realized that it's useless to fight the almighty Zorc? Well, Seth?”

 

Seth looked completely shocked. `Akhenaden!' He thought with a gasp. `It is him… The High Priest of the Shadows… is Akhenaden!!' He then called out. “Why?! Why have you betrayed us?! Why did you sell your soul to the shadows?!!”

 

`Seth…' The Dark Priest thought. `I saw that look on your face once before… but you probably don't remember…' He remembered when Set was only a child. `When you saw me for the first time after I fused with the Millennium Eye… You started shaking like you had seen a monster… You were afraid of me… But I am not a monster… I am your father!!'

 

“Akhenaden!” Seth called. “Once you were my master… But now that you serve the evil one, you are nothing but my enemy!” Duos appeared and was positioned to attack.

 

“Seth…” The Dark Priest said. “I've gained the Shadow Power… Your ka cannot defeat me now!”

 

“And so…” Seth said. “For the first and last time, I will rebel… and defeat you!!” Duos started to charge forward to the Dark Priest.

 

“You can never defeat me!” The Dark Priest as he let out a strong lightening attack, which caused to shock Seth. “Seth… the pain you feel will show you the path you must take!! Let your illusions of `justice' be destroyed along with your spirit ka!” As he said that, he completely destroyed Duos.

 

“Seth!!” The young king called when he heard the priest cry out in pain.

 

Seth looked up as the two magicians went between him and the Dark Priest.

 

“Seth…” The Dark Priest said. “Watch! See my power!! Rise, my Army of the Dead!” As soon as he said that, skeletons in armor started to rise and started to float like ghosts towards the group.

 

“An army of corpses!!” Siamun said. “So many of them!!”

 

The Dark Priest laughed. “This Army of the Dead will destroy you before you can even lay a finger on Lord Zorc!”

 

Mahado and Mana looked at the corpses and attacked them with Magic Blasts.

 

“Fall back!” Siamun called. “Protect the Pharaoh!”

 

Atem looked a bit ticked as he thought. `We don't have enough power!!'

 

As the men were doing their best to fight the evil spirits, a small orb, invisible to the human eye, came out of Shada and went into Heba's necklace.

 

“Isis!” Siamun called to the female priest. “Spiria alone can't turn the tide of battle!”

 

“I know!” she said.

 

“Give the rest of your ba to the Pharaoh!” Siamun said as he looked at Shada. `Priest Shada…' The elder vizier thought. `I gave the Millennium Key to you, as my successor! But now, I must take it back!' He took the item as another thought came in. `Will you still lend your power to this old man? Demon God of the Palace… Exodia!!'

 

The battle with the Army of the Dead continues as the Dark Priest went up to Seth, who was still numb from the attack earlier. `Seth…' He thought. `I'll give you power… Come with me…' With that, both disappeared.

 

They re-appeared at an area that the young priest quickly recognize.

 

“The palace!” He said as he saw parts of it collapsing. `No!' He thought. `The palace is collapsing!'

 

“The palace is about to disappear beneath the earth…” The Dark Priest said. “This world will be completely destroyed… With the awakening of Zorc Necrophades, all will be purified and a new world of shadows will be born!”

 

Seth looked shocked as the other thought.

 

`I know your thoughts… I know what flickered through your mind…'

 

Seth looked at one building that was starting to crumble.

 

`The power you left behind in this palace!'

 

`Kisara!' Seth thought as he started to run.

 

“There's nothing you can do, Seth!” The Dark Priest said making the young priest stop. “That girl will soon die… then that great power will become yours!!”

 

`Great… power…' Seth thought.

 

“I will make you KING… of the World of Shadows… My son…”

 

Seth went wide eyed in shock upon hearing that. `My… father…?'
