Ch. 30: Seth's Choice and the Battle Continues

`My… father…?' Was Seth's thought after the Dark Priest, formally known as Akhenaden, admitted that he's his father.

 

“The old Pharaoh Akhenamkhanen was my older brother…” The Dark Priest said. “Do you know what this means, Seth? Royal blood flows in your veins.”

 

`Royal blood…!' Seth thought, still shocked from the first fact.

 

“The Pharaoh's fate is to ours as light is to shadow… But now that the shadow power has awakened, the world will enter a new age! Join me! Kill the Pharaoh and rule this world!”

 

Seth was still out of it when the building he was heading started to crumble. `Kisara!' He thought.

 

“She is yours.” The Dark Priest said. “Let the girl die… and the god will take residence in your soul! Use the White Dragon to become king! Do it, my son!”

 

“Even…” Seth started to say. “If you were my father…” He turned to face the Dark Priest. “I would never sell my soul to the darkness!” He shouted as he ran towards the building.

 

Once inside, the walls and ceilings have cracks and some pieces fell from many angles.

 

“Lord Seth…” A guard called. “It's too dangerous! You must turn back!”

 

But Seth passed him. “Out of my way!” He called as he started to dodge some stone debris . He found the room where the young woman was in. “Kisara, are you all right?!” He said.

 

“Lord Seth!” Kisara said, looking a little relieved to see him.

 

“The palace is about to collapse…” He said as he opened the barred door.

 

“Why is this happening?!” She asked.

 

“Quick! Run!” He said.

 

“Is this because of the monster that lives within me?”

 

He looked at her as he calmly explained. “No… This catastrophe was caused by humans seduced by evil and darkness… This was done by monsters called `man'… Don't worry… What lives inside you isn't a monster…” He grabbed her by the wrist and ran. “Now hurry! Let's go!”

 

Once they were out, the ground lifted up a bit and the palace was still crumbling.

 

“Listen!” He said to her. “Get away from here as fast as you can! Go far away, to some distant land where the fires of war won't reach you!”

 

She was about to say something but the young priest shouted.

 

“GO!”

 

She turned and looked back at him and thought. `Lord Seth… Thank you…' She started to run.

 

`Kisara…' Seth thought. `Don't be caught by the shadows… always look to the light!'

 

Then the Dark Priest appeared and said. “Why, my son?? Why do you let the girl escape? With the power of your MILLENNIUM ROD, you could EXTRACT the god from that girl and become KING!”

 

“You…” Seth said. “Are not my father… the best part of him died long ago… He gave his life bravely on the battlefield…”

 

The Dark Priest became angered by this. “Very well…” He said as lightening came out of his hands and aimed at the ground. “I will make you accept my gift…” He then looked behind Seth, who looked alarmed.

 

`Kisara!!' The young priest thought as he saw that she stood there.

 

“A god is born…” The Dark Priest said as he brought his dark lightening magic towards her.

 

Seth looked horrified as he saw her being attacked. “KISARAAA!” He shouted.

 

~Battlefield~

Everyone on the battlefield was still having trouble getting rid of the Army of the Dead and Zorc watched amusingly.

 

“They're too strong!” Said a guard. “We've lost too many men!”

 

Atem was both ticked and concerned as he saw Hasan and Mahado doing their best to destroy the evil spirits. `There are too many of them!' He thought. `How can we fight an Army of the Dead?'

 

“Great Pharaoh!” Siamun said as he removed the cloth that covered half his face. “Leave this to me!!”

 

“Siamun!” Atem said with a shocked expression.

 

`There's still power left in these old bones!' The elder thought. `Pharaoh!! I will protect you!” He lifted the Millennium Key up and continued to think. `Demon God of the Palace! Five sacred parts sealed into stone slabs! I now release you… Defend us in our hour of need!'

 

In the shrine, the five stone slabs mentioned started to glow.

 

`Come, my ancient spirit… Exodia!!' The huge god-like spirit appeared. The spirit's face looked like a mummy's, and looked somewhat pharaoh-like, but it has chains on its wrists and looked really strong!

 

`Exodia!' Atem thought as he saw the spirit.

 

The men cheered. “The legendary guardian that defeated one thousand armies in a single night!”

 

Then Siamun called out. “Exodia the Forbidden One! Burn our foes with the fire of your rage! Exodia Flame!” A beam-like attack came out and completely obliterated the Army of the Dead.

 

“Amazing…” Said a guard while another called.

 

“He destroyed the Army of the Dead in an INSTANT!!”

 

The head guard then shouted. “Don't let your guard down! We still haven't defeated Zorc!”

 

Zorc on the other hand, looked ticked that the corpse army was destroyed. “All of you…” He said. “Mere insects…”

 

“Exodia!” The elder called out. “Increase to maximum fire! Target: Zorc! Exodia Blaze!” Another beam-like attack, but a lot stronger, came out and aimed it towards Zorc. `Exodia!! Consume the Dark God! Burn him up with the fire in your soul!'

 

Atem looked with a determined look. `Can he defeat Zorc?!!' He thought.

 

When Exodia's attack hit Zorc, the Dark God was then covered in flames.

 

“Look!” Said a guard. “Zorc's covered in flames! He can't move!”

 

`Just a little more, fires of anger!' The elder continued to think. `Use me for fuel, while my soul still burns!' He then looked angered himself.

 

Zorc's eyes can be seen through the flames as he thought. `No fire on Earth can light my darkness… I am impervious. See my power! Dark Phenomenon!!' His attack cut through the beam as well as the spirit in half!

 

“It can't be!” Said a guard. “The Demon God of the Palace was split in half!!”

 

“Exodia!” Atem called then looked at Siamun as blood came out of the elder's mouth. “Siamun!!” He ran up to the elder as the spirit's halves' fell to the ground.

 

The elder looked at the young king with weak and tired eyes as he thought. `Great Pharaoh… I gave my best…' With that he closed his eyes and became motionless.

 

“Siamun!!” Atem shouted. He couldn't believe it. The strongest old man he ever known, was gone.

 

Zorc laughed as he called. “You've lost, Pharaoh! Your pitiful souls will never defeat me!”

 

Atem was pissed to say the least. “Zorc!” He yelled. “Even if you scatter our souls to the wind, we'll never stop fighting you!”

 

“You can't win…” Zorc said. “I am the dark! What do you see, after you throw your lives to the darkness? Do you see anything other then your own foolishness and regret? You mortals fear the dark… but it rules you… you are powerless before the shadows!”

 

“That's not true!” Atem shouted. “The soul in this body is the light of life!! It will never go out! I believe that!”

 

“Then `Great Pharaoh', now that you've lost all your allies and your life force is fading away… Do you still think you have any way to defeat me?” The Dark God started to laugh.

 

“Even if this body is destroyed, the light of my soul will pass to someone else! My soul will go on and on… Until you are conquered at last!” Atem shouted.
