Ch. 31: Shadow Weather = End of the World!

~Modern Day: Domino~

“Shit!” Atem said as he dodged some electric wires. The wind grew stronger as the warning sirens came up to let everyone know a hurricane and tsunami was coming. `Lines are dead and I can't use my cell to reach everyone!' He thought as he held onto a street lamp pole. He saw a tornado landed some miles off. `Crap! Is this what the end of the world is like?!' He thought as he fought through the wind and dodging junk along the way. The rain came next, but the small droplets stung him like jellyfish. `Acid rain?!' He thought as he put his arms up to defend his eyes. Thankfully the rain seemed to be going on and off.

 

Within the chaos, he found a temporary shelter under a makeshift selling tent to rest. “This is…” He said as he took a breather. “…crazy.” He then heard something.

 

“Even if this body is destroyed…”

 

`That sounds like me!' He thought as he looked up to see and image of the battlefield up in the black sky.

 

“The light of my soul will pass to someone else! My soul will go on and on… Until you are conquered at last!”

 

`That would explain why I look like him in the first place.' The modern Atem thought.

 

“Fool!” Shouted Zorc. “Haven't you figured it out? It is humans who give me power!”

 

Both the young king and the modern young man looked a bit lost.

 

“Shadows are born in the human heart! In the midst of light, the only way for men to know themselves is to turn to the darkness and see their own shadow! Without my shadows, you would be mere drones, never questioning the meaning of your existence…”

 

Unknown to the modern Atem, the people in the city could also see and hear Zorc and everyone was afraid to say the least.

 

“The never-ending wars and slaughter among men… they are the instincts of mankind, the regular adjustments needed to sustain life! With my power I will create a world of eternal darkness!”

 

As he said this, the modern Atem's shelter began to collapse and an earthquake became known as huge cracks began to show!

 

“I'll give you foolish mortals an endless hell!!”

 

In the modern world, Atem heard screams as he ran, dodging junk and jumping over huge cracks.

 

“Come, my shadows!! Cover the heavens!! Crawl out of hiding! Crush the land!”

 

In the modern world, the black sky then started pouring black rain while the cracks on the ground looked like there was something black oozing out. Atem didn't know what to do as he continued to run and jump and dodge as the black rain acted like oil on him and the oozing stuff acted like puddles as he stomped on them.

 

In Ancient Egypt, cracks were forming as well and the young king caught the still unconscious girl, before she fell as well, and set her down beside him as he looked at the dark god. “Zorc!! I fight for the spirits of those who lost their lives searching for the light!! I won't let this world be swallowed by darkness!” Then the two magicians and Hasan came by his side as Mahado thought to him.

 

`Pharaoh! I still have power left!' The other two said the same.

 

`Mahado…' The young ruler thought. `Mana… Hasan!!' He then looked determined as he called out. “I will fight until my ba is gone!”

 

`Let's go!!' Mahado thought as he and the other two went up to Zorc's face.

 

“Only three spirits left…” Zorc said. “I'll blow you away in an instant… In the same breath as the Pharaoh's soul…”

 

“Ba Da!” Hasan shouted. “Soul Bullet!”

 

“Magic Blast!!” the two magicians shouted.

 

Zorc chuckled. “Is that all? That tickles… You little flies…” He then let out two strong attacks on the three.

 

After Zorc's `Zorc Inferno' and `Catastrophe', the young Pharaoh coughed up huge amounts of blood.

 

`Pharaoh!' Mahado thought as he saw that the young king could barely stand. He then saw that he was disappearing. `Pharaoh…'

 

Some of the blood landed on Heba's peaceful expression as the young king tried to hang in there.

 

In the modern world, the young man practically threw up the blood as he fell on his knees and fell to his side. He was in an old building that has yet to crumble. He looked up to see the piano that was in the center of the room and managed to get over and sat down on the stool. Some droplets of blood fell onto the ivory keys as he rested his head on the keys. “Yugi…” He whispered as a tear came down his face.

 

In Egypt, Zorc laughed as he saw the young king's condition. “I win this battle. Now Pharaoh, you will vanish into endless night…”

 

`My soul…' Atem thought. `My ba… is fading…' He fell to his knees and looked over to Heba, still dead to the world, and held her hand. `I hope you can forgive me, for I was unable to neither help you nor protect you.' He thought as he went for one last kiss…
