Chapter 6
~When Push Comes to Shove~

-Somewhere on the borders of Ta Mahu-

Dark brown eyes mixed with bloodied crimson stared out at the shrouded faces. “Followers of Amoset, Devine darkness, Listen to the words of a king!” Powdery hair fluttered as the figure moved. His skin was a dark tan, and he had a scar under one of his eyes. “Listen to the words of a person who wants what we all want!” His voice seemed to melt the people, bend them to his ways.

He stared out at the crowed, seeing how silent they were. “Our Leader has been tortured for nine years, and now it is time to free him and give us all our spot in Ra’s light! With the Pharaoh’s death and his son’s new reign, We can end this here and now! We can kill the new Pharaoh while he is weak!”

The crowed seemed to come to life, cheering. The man kept on talking. “I have caused the Pharaoh great pain already! I am the great King of Thieves!”

The crowd kept on shouting, chanting one name like a mantra. “Bakura, Bakura. Bakura.” Over and over again, gaining volume until it seemed that the very dunes of sand would begin to shake.

Bakura smiled, nodding his head to the people before him. “We will get Prince Yuugi back and he shall be the NEW Ruler of Kemet!” He walked off, his well muscled chest shimmering under the sun. He wore a dark blue shenti with a golden sash. He had the emblem of Amoset marked on his arm, proudly showing his hatred.

Bakura hated the Pharaoh, hated him more than words could express. He had hated him since he had killed his family, friends, people. He hated him more when he killed his brother. Now Pharaoh Atemu was ruling and he hated him too. Atemu had been the reason that Ryou had been killed. Now he wanted Atemu’s life.

He wanted Atemu’s happiness.

H wanted a slow and painful death to the Pharaoh.

A small smile crept onto his features while he thought of the many ways he could shed the blood of a god.

-Kemet-Memphis-

Yuugi sighed, looking with his violet eyes as everything grew darker around him. He just kept walking, aimlessly trudging down into the darkness. He could see light in the distance, as feint as it was. He frowned, his bright violet eyes straining to see the stairs that he was heading down.

He pressed a hand to the wall, frowning when it went strait through. “Where am I?” He asked, taking a slow step forward. “Anyone there?” His small voice asked. He was not really afraid of what he would find, after all, he had been through so much, nothing else seemed to be able to hurt him.

He gazed around, seeing that there were rows of cells that seemed to be empty. “No one lives long down here.” He shuddered, not liking the foreboding smell of death that filled the think air. He felt like he would suffocate at any moment, but he kept walking.

He paused when he heard a voice start to shout. “Give him back!” He cocked his head to the side, trying to figure out where the shouting was coming from. He saw a hand flailing through the bars ahead of him, and he hastily made his way over.

Anzu fought against the bars of her cell as she had many times. “May Amoset tear your Ka apart!” She shouted at whoever was approaching. She could not see the figure yet, but if they got close enough, she would show them a thing or two about keeping her locked up.

The small teen gave a puzzled look as he moved closer to the cell, crying out when he felt hands grasping his raven hair. “Ouch! Let go.” He cried out, fighting with the woman’s death grip.

Anzu held a hand full of hair, sneering at the shadowed figure. “Why should I!?” She spat, her words like venom.

He struggled to pull away. “S-Stop it! I did nothing to you.” He cried out. “I am sorry, just please–” Yuugi was cut off as he cried out in pain. The woman had pulled him back against the bars, his back hitting the copper harshly, digging into his healing wounds.

The pissed off brunette managed to snake an arm around the small figures neck, holding him firm. “Tell me, Why are you here?” She asked, his voice deathly quiet.

“I-I was,” He gasped, feeling his airway get cut off.

“Shut up!” She snapped, situating the figure a bit so she could see him in the light.

Yuugi looked up with teary violet eyes that seemed to glow in the light of the torch. Bright blue met stunning amethyst for a moment before Anzu let go, bowing down to the floor. “My lord.” she breathed, startling the boy. “You are safe.”

Yuugi wince, moving to get a better look at the girl. “No, I am not.” He snapped cooly. “You tore open my back.” He huffed, pouting. “You know I did nothing to you to cause you to lash out at me. It is not my fault you are stuck there.”

Anzu’s eyes looked crestfallen and Yuugi immediately regretted his words. “I-I’m sorry, that was uncal–”

The woman shook her head, cutting him off. “No, You are right. I am sorry my lord, I was just so upset. We have been trying to get you back for nine years.”

The small teen shook his head, moving down to his knees. “Hey, don’t look so sad. None of this is your fault either. I am sure Per A’ah has no idea you are down here.” He said, reaching out to touch her brown hair. “I-I can try to talk to hi–”

For not the first time in the little while the boy had been down there, The woman cut him off. “NO! Yuugi, Don’t even go near that monster! I can only hope the queen kills him.” She snapped.

Amethyst looked hurt again. “What is with everyone and death? I may not know much of the world, and I still feel like a six year-old, but at least I know that death hurts more people than the ones who leave to Osiris!” He was shaking, seeing the crimson flash by his mind once more.

“Yuugi, I-I am so sorry, look, I-I did not mean it. T-that man though, he killed so man, hurt so many.” She shook her head, reaching out to caress raven locks of silk.

With a deep breath, Yuugi managed to look up at the woman. “You are Anzu.” He said with a smile. “I remember you and I would always sit at the oasis together.” He sighed. “Look, Anzu, The old Pharaoh is dead. He was killed at least five births of Ra ago. I-It was filled with blood. An Angry crimson decked the walls.”

Anzu frowned.

Yuugi looked like the six year-old he had once been when he was taken, but somehow, though he had not left that minds set, he seemed much older. “Yuugi, never let them take your innocence.” She whispered, standing up. “You should go before you get caught.” She plopped down on the straw that covered the cold stone floor.

Yuugi said nothing as he started up the stairs. He did not look back at the creature who was left sitting in a cold cell. Perhaps later, he could bring her a blanket though. A small smile began to tug on his lips as he emerged into the light of the halls.

O-,-O-,-O

Isis had taken care to set the boy up in one of the extra rooms that were attached to Atemu’s suite. “Little one.” She smiled when she saw the small creature. “Atemu told me what happened, look, he did not mean to push you away.”

The small teen shook his head, looking to the woman. “Milady, there is nothing for him to forgive.” With that, the small teen went into the room that she was standing in front of. He was so tierd, he just wanted to sleep. He wanted to get lost in the blanket of darkness that he was sure would welcome him.

He was not that lucky.

-Atemu and Yuugi’s dream-

Atemu stood, staring at the darkness that shrouded him. He was suddenly glad there was no blood. He looked around the void, seeing nothing in every direction. He did not understand what was going on, even when the small figure started to form. He reached out to the figure, but pulled his hand away.

“Yuugi?” He was surprised to find he had a voice.

The small figure looked up, tears filling his lavender eyes. They were so broken. A voice called out, and Atemu could have sworn it was his father. “Kill him Atemu.” The small figure buried his face in his knees once more, crying his eyes out.

Yuugi felt the darkness close in around him. It felt like it was crushing him. He cried out, looking at the Pharaoh in front of him. He felt the pain increase when the voice shouted. He started to shrink back into the darkness, feeling very lonely and vulnerable.

Atemu winced, seeing how frightened the boy had become. “Yuugi, I am sorry, I won’t hurt you. I did not mean to push you away.”

Teary eyes looked up, letting crystalline tears fall down porcelain skin. Atemu reached out, but the figure before him started to fall away from him, falling into the voice. “Yuugi!” the young Pharaoh found himself crying out, unable to reach down after the boy. Tears filled his own eyes as he heard the small boy start to cry out.

Atemu woke with a start, sweat pouring from his face. “Yuugi.” He breathed the name of the small angel that he had hurt. He took a deep breath, frowning when the shouting still rang through his ears.

The Tricolor haired Pharaoh got to his feet, rushing to where he heard the thrashing and shouting. His heart seemed to be pounding and he had no idea why. He threw open a door, seeing a sighed that would break his heart.

Yuugi lay on the bed, thrashing and crying out as he fought imaginary demons.

Slowly, Atemu crawled into bed with the boy. He subdued the small figure, quickly wrapping his arms around him and pulling him close. He kissed the back of the other’s neck, trying to make the dream do away.

Yuugi continued to fall, he could not see anything as the voice crushed him. He continued to thrash against the invisible hands that threatened to rip him to shreds.

He felt strong arms wrap around him, and a warm feeling followed by a slight tingle sensation. Slowly he started to calm and let the darkness take him. He was surprised when he opened his eyes and the dark was gone, filled with a bright golden light that shrouded him.

“Atemu?” He whispered, leaning into the figure that he knew was holding onto him. Why had he not called him Pharaoh? All the boy knew was it felt right to say the name as he was held in the tight embrace.

O-`-O-`-O

RA! I think Yuugi is so cute! You have to know something is going to happen between Atemu and Yuugi. The question is, What does Bakura have planned? Better watch out Atemu. Heh heh
