Yu-Gi-Oh! Fan Fiction ❯ To Love the Enemy ❯ Chapter 8: Deadly Precision ( Chapter 9 )
Yes, Chapter 8 is here! You guys are in for a treat today and some good news! I will be updating next week hopefully because my uncle is FINALLY taking the computer to have it fixed! If he gets it fixed, expect a lot of fics to be updated Fridays and Saturdays now! Like I said, Chapter 8 is scary because once again Serenity runs into…well you know who and it's not a pleasant encounter…
***FF.net took off my disclaimer for this fic but I can still say that Yu-Gi-Oh does not belong to me or neither their characters. I only own the plot and the OC characters***
~Now to the review
Omnis: I pray that God gives your mother health and strength to get through this killer disease. My mother has cancer too and it was her faith that made her well. I hope your mother holds on to her faith because only God can heal her. Sorry to hear that. And I'm scaring you?! It's the evil Kaiba isn't it?! In both the vampire and this fic. The super evil ones right? The vampire one is chasing us! From my new story! I have no idea how the hell he got out of the story but I have a bad feeling regular Kaiba sent him here! He's out for blood and he's cranky when he doesn't get blood! Not to mention very frighteningly demonic because he turns eviler than normal! Eep! Help Omnis HELP-
Daisy: *shakes kikoken* Will you calm down?
Kikoken: Calm down?! What have I created? *kikoken faints*
Leona: Not…good
Neith: Not good at all…
Dreamgirl: Oh this will get prickly alright and this is just the beginning. It will leave at a cliffhanger too. Glad you like 'A Strange Crush' and that the diaries are okay. The diaries get better but I need time to update them! Grr…stupid school…
Vendred13: Scary yes but this chapter is scarier…and one diabolical cliffy.
Shadows of Society: Yup, immense coldness, and it will get colder than 0 degrees…
Erika 410: well they do have to make their minds up. They're driving me nuts! He's in love with me, Dante is in love with you…aiyah! Bad day, bad day, bad day!
Sanonuke Hidane: Thanks so much for the corrections! I fixed the errors!
Sakurelle: I know lol. No defense or anything. Yeah that means trouble…and you could be right about the foreshadowing…hm…
Jieli: Damn straight…
To everyone else: Thanks for the 130 reviews! Man for 7 chapters already? Damn why do I have that feeling this fic will go over 200 too?! Thanks yet again! Now here's a creepy Chapter 8!

Mijuki Pizzeria
Domino City, Japan
1:27pm
"Yuugi, you know I still can't understand how you could even… enjoy eating this," Yami Yuugi said, raising and eyebrow as he lifted the long, triangular slice of pizza that was covered every inch by mozzarella cheese and Motou Yuugi happily wolfed down his slice, his slice with pepperonis on it and Yami's a plain slice. The two were on their lunch break now, minutes after 1:00pm.
The Mijuki Pizzeria was more of an Americanized pizzeria-run by overseas American business entrepreneurs trying to do well in Japan. It was a plain looking pizzeria, the walls a marble white/red with matching leather seats. The pizzeria wasn't as crowded as Yuugi expected it to be and so he and Yami were able to talk privately, Yami telling Yuugi how the proposal went, a victorious smirk on his face.
"Yami…you…might…as well get…used to these things you know…besides you'll be a married man…soon," Yugi replied in between bites as he came down to finishing his last piece. "Pizza's not…good for you…but its alright once in a blue moon…"
"I suppose so," Yami replied and hesitantly bit into his slice. Oily, yes but maybe the pizza wasn't so bad after all.
"Can't stop thinking about her huh?" Yuugi mused, causing Yami to smile as he put down his slice, wiping his fingers with a napkin and running a hand through his hair.
"Alright, alright Yuugi, I can sense you're happy about the whole thing," he replied then.
"Of course I'm happy Yami. You didn't even falter when you proposed to her! You did it perfectly or at least that's what I heard from you but never mind anyway. The others are going to be really happy when they hear about it…I hope Jounouchi didn't blurt anything out…"
"Jounouchi?" Yami inquired.
"Yeah, he stopped by the video store and I told him BUT I told him not to tell anyone else."
"You think he'll keep it a secret?"
"Don't worry Yami, to be honest Jou may have a big mouth but I think he'll keep it a secret. I really wish Mokuba was coming to the dinner though…I thought he was going to come. I mean I did invite him…"
"Do you think Kaiba had any kind of influence on Mokuba not to come?" Yami asked firmly, noting Kaiba's cold, unchanging attitude, if not colder. Despite all that they had all gone through he was still cold, arrogant and distant. It was like a mystery unsolved.
Yuugi shook his head.
"No I don't think so…Mokuba is his own person. I think he's old enough to make his own decisions and maybe Kaiba doesn't have a right interfering with that. That's how I feel. I still don't understand why Kaiba acts this way."
"There is a balance of dark and light in everyone Yuugi," Yami said quietly. "Maybe Kaiba has not found his inner peace yet. We shouldn't allow something like this to ruin our get-together however."
"You're right Yami. Well, either way we better finish our pizza and get back to the store. We still have up to 5:00pm to go."
Yami rolled his eyes.
"5:00pm, right," he muttered sarcastically.
"I knew you would complain…don't worry Yami the dinner will get here. Its typical for a 5,000 year old pharaoh to complain about working anyway, right?"
Yuugi whispered this, causing Yami to roll his eyes again and Yuugi to laugh lightly.
"Yes, maybe I am excited about the whole thing."
"Hard to believe it has been ten years after Battle City."
"Yes, that long," Yami replied but his face became serious then. "Yuugi?"
"Yeah Yami?"
"Why do you insist on that tomb robber coming to the dinner?"
Yami sighed quietly to himself. He knew Yami wasn't going to let this go so easily. Yami still didn't trust Yami Bakura and the two still didn't get along as well because there was still tension between the two. They showed a small amount of respect for each other now but there was still tension and even Yuugi and Ryou could still feel it. He hoped this didn't ruin the dinner tonight at all. He helped plan this and he expected this to go well.
"Yami, you have to relax and calm down about this whole thing," Yuugi said with a sigh, resting the crust of the pizza on the plate then. "Yami Bakura wasn't looking at Anzu the last time we had this get together. There's nothing wrong with him coming to the dinner…"
"There is something wrong Yuugi and I don't like it," Yami interrupted coldly, a little growl in his voice. Yuugi knew about Yami's temper and decided to play it safe by not provoking it, only to convince Yami about Yami Bakura. "There's still something wrong about that tomb robber that I don't like at all. I would appreciate he didn't come because I do not want him anywhere near Anzu and I might just have to kill him if I catch him anywhere near her."
"Yami, please let's make a deal. Yami Bakura comes to the dinner and I'll make sure he isn't looking at Anzu or he's not sitting next to her. He's not as bad as he was before Yami, give him a chance at least."
Yami narrowed his eyes.
"I'll believe it when I see it," he replied coldly. "Very well but if I catch him staring at her…"
"You won't Yami, okay?"
Yami sighed and slapped the half eaten pizza on the plate after picking it up again to eat but decided he didn't want anymore.
"Let's head back," he said quietly and got up and so did Yuugi but before they left, Yuugi left a two dollar tip on the table.
Ryou and I can't expect Bakura and Yami to get along anymore than what they tolerate. I'll have to keep an eye on both of them. I hope Ryou is thinking the same thing…

Odibwa College, 10th Floor
Domino City, Japan
1:37pm
Shizuka quietly and quickly made her way down the hallway, having left her Business Management class early after making up some kind of excuse she was certain her professor would not have believed but nonetheless allowed her to leave the classroom. Her class originally ended by 2:15pm, however somehow and someway she felt very uncomfortable. It wasn't the class that made her uncomfortable, it was what happened earlier that made her uncomfortable. She never expected Kaiba would have arrived at her college as well, but his words after the conversation between her college advisor and him as well scared her for some strange reason and something told her that she didn't want to stay in the college today long enough to run into the CEO again. She didn't know what the words meant but she had a terrible feeling that tomorrow wasn't going to be as smooth as she wanted it to go. Something inside of her told her that she needed to get out of here early and try to shake any doubts of the internship out of her mind. She still needed this job and she couldn't back out of it now. She silently hoped that Jounouchi wasn't home and if he had come back home from grocery shopping; she would have the courage to explain to him why she came home early. She would exclude what happened.
What was he doing here in the first place? From since the interview he's been making me feel very uncomfortable and he's been acting very hostile towards me. I don't even know what I did to him…I didn't do anything to him…I hardly know him of at least not as much. I only know what Jounouchi told me and from the looks of things he does sound very anti-social. Bad days shouldn't kill someone's attitude like this. I have a terrible nagging feeling he's always like this. I remembered Jounouchi telling me about Kaiba. I didn't think I would have to even think about this but I should be careful.
She didn't know what made her all of a sudden afraid of the CEO/president but it wasn't very comforting.
As Shizuka was walking, holding her purse and her notebook in hand, eventually turning the corner to reach the elevator, suddenly she bumped into a tall figure that couldn't have been unrecognizable.
It was Kaiba Seto and strangely she was running into him again.
[A/N: Don't you just LOVE the corner running-into?]
The hallways were a bit empty now, other students reaching their classes for the day. At least this side of the hallway was empty and Shizuka swallowed at this thought as she carefully backed away. Kaiba was looking at her as soon as she backed away and slowly smiled darkly as though he somewhat anticipated to run into her again.
Interesting, I run into her again. She's too amusing for her own good.
Before Shizuka could say anything, Kaiba was the one who had spoken first.
"It must be coincidence that I'm here, running into you again Jounouchi," he drawled coldly, just staring at the woman emotionlessly with twin cerulean blue iceberg eyes as well as skeptically, studying everything that was on her and her expression as well. She looked nearly fearful, he could tell and he savored it.
"Y-yes-" Shizuka began but Kaiba sharply interrupted.
"Shouldn't you be in class right now?" he asked, and it was an authoritative question, the deep voice startling Shizuka as she struggled to keep her composure.
"T-That's none of your concern…" she began uneasily but it was a small mistake as Kaiba narrowed his eyes slowly.
"If you're working for me Jounouchi, I'll be sure to make everything my business," he replied emotionlessly as though he could care less what the woman's excuse for not being in class had been. "I think you'll be very interested in knowing that I'll be in your class in a couple of days, giving a small lecture, of course. You might want to learn a few things so I do hope you take careful notes…"
"Why are you acting this way towards me?" Shizuka demanded, the cold impassive voice getting to her as she struggled not to reveal the small amount of fear she felt at the moment. "I never did anything to you…I don't even know why you're here at my college-"
"Why I was here is none of your concern Jounouchi," Kaiba interrupted once again but the voice grew colder to the point, Shizuka felt a shiver pass through her. "You're a Jounouchi, a sniffling annoying little Jounouchi that doesn't even deserve two thirds of my respect…"
He then took a step towards Shizuka as Shizuka stepped back an inch at the same time. "I don't even know why I gave you that internship Jounouchi but then again maybe I wanted to see you fall flat on your face just for the small failure that you are, along with the mutt you call a brother. Just as long as you don't fuck things up as my personal secretary, I wouldn't even care what your reputation reveals…because it doesn't impress me much…"
"I don't know what your problem is but…"
"Problem? Oh I don't have a problem, maybe I do have a problem with a certain Jounouchi that's going to be at my mercy starting tomorrow. .."
"I don't know what you mean…"
"You don't have to know…do you?"
Shizuka didn't answer the question and Kaiba sneered.
"Are you shy that you can't even answer?"
"I really have to go…I don't have time with this," Shizuka said quietly, keeping as much ground as she could muster. She didn't understand what was going on and she didn't want to stay around to find out anything. She didn't like Kaiba's attitude towards her and it was scaring her. This was enough to make her even more uncomfortable and she didn't enjoy it at all.
She proceeded to pass by Kaiba, but he only grabbed her wrist tightly with one hand, the two standing within an inch from each other and pulled her back. His grip was frighteningly tight and it was a death-like grip Shizuka had never been exposed to.
"Then you'll make time because I wasn't through with you yet," he said darkly, every word sending a shiver down Shizuka's spine. "I wasn't finished speaking with you Jounouchi so I wouldn't go as far as to disrespect my superior if I were you, of course…"
"What do you want?" Shizuka asked her own hidden fears being revealed slowly, inch by inch.
Kaiba smiled evilly.
"Just a small chat before you go running back to the little hole you call an apartment," he replied tightly as if daring the woman to scream or make any kind of movement to get away.
"I don't see what we need to talk about…I think you said enough," Shizuka replied uneasily. "Please let go of me."
"You know, just because of the help the mutt and the geek friends gave me to rescue my brother during Battle City, it doesn't mean we're anywhere on friendly terms and that includes you. I don't have friends and I don't expect to have any because they get in the way. Watch your back when you come to work tomorrow, I expect you to be there on time just as I mentioned before…"
"I wasn't planning on coming in late Kaiba, just let me go," Shizuka said, feeling her heart beating up to her chest. She struggled to pull away but the grip was still tight, frighteningly tight.
Kaiba sneered again, enjoying her uncomfortable composure.
"What, do I frighten you so much…what's your hurry?" he asked in a mere cold whisper, looking down at the woman. "Fright is an interesting word, isn't it Jounouchi?"
"Let go of me, please," Shizuka said, almost fearfully, afraid of the grip on her wrist that was beginning to hurt but Kaiba wouldn't let her go.
"You're scared aren't you? I can see it in your eyes. Don't be scared…you don't even know half of what fear is yet Jounouchi."
"Let me go…please…why you are acting this way-"
"Why?" Kaiba asked, ignoring the last question. "Why should I let you go…why should I even do that?"
"I said let me go!" Shizuka almost shouted, raising her voice, still trying to pull away but Kaiba only pushed her slowly into a wall forcibly as he continued looking down at her, eventually leaning down to her ear slowly and slyly like a tiger scanning its prey.
"You're nothing to me Jounouchi," he said in a whisper. It was cold precision, deadly precision and it was enough for Shizuka to shift uneasily away from looking into the emotionless orbs that were eyes but he forced her with the other hand on her chin to look at him. Shizuka still struggled to get away, afraid of what was going on or what was even happening. "You know…I think it might be coincidence again that we run into each other again later…don't you think? A pity the little puppy doesn't even know where you're working at…I know you'll try covering it up…but he'll know eventually won't he? And then he'll try to get you out of it but I guarantee it won't work…ever."
And with that notion, Kaiba finally let go of the young woman and turned away, eventually leaving. Shizuka leaned against the wall, struggling to catch her breath, unmoving as though she had been glued against the wall.
Her first taste of what fear really was had somehow been revealed…
Chapter 8 finished…wait where did everyone go! *kikoken sees everyone hiding behind the sofa of the fort*
