Chapter 4: Plans

Through all of his classes Yami could not the Yugi out of his head. He had a second chance and hopefully he wouldn't mess it up. He doubted that he or Yugi would be able to handle that. With ne determination in his soul he told himself that no matter what he would succeed. Yami walked through the door and into his next class. He wondered for a moment why no one had questioned him yet or why he was just allowed to continue school. He guessed it was something Ryou and Bakura had done. Yami sighed knowing he would have to thank the two later.

He walked into his next class and seated himself. He zoned out completely. Someone tapped him on the shoulder and he shook awake. Yami turned his head and found himself looking into Yugi's face.

“He- Hey,” Yami said recovering from the shock quickly.

Yugi smiled and sat down next to him, “Hey. You zone out a lot huh.”

Yami smiled slightly and rubbed the back of his head, “A little yeah.”

“Well space cadet, in the time that you were floating around the teacher assigned us as partners for the next project,” Yugi said as he held out a paper for Yami.

As Yami reached for it Yugi tugged it back a little, “Heh, you won't get it that easily. It's a long project that we can't work on at school so we'll have to see each other frequently. I like to get an early start on things so we'll agree to meet tomorrow after school at your house okay.”

Yami stared for a moment; the new Yugi was a lot more forward. It wasn't necessarily a bad thing just different. Without knowing it Yugi had given Yami an opening to start making things better.

“Fine, can I have my paper now?” Yami asked with a lopsided grin.

“Of course,” Yugi replied cheerfully.

The two began to discuss the project and all the things they would need. Yugi said that his house was very crowded and still in the moving stages so they would meet and work at Yami's house and in return they would split the cost 60/40 for the project.

“Wait for me after school at the gate and we'll walk from there,” Yami said as they finished planning.

“Walk? You live that close?”

“Yes, at the Kame Game Shop,” Yami explained.

“Wow, a game shop! I love games!” Yugi exclaimed then blushed, “sorry about the outburst.”

Yami chuckled a bit, “No worries, we have plenty. I'm a bit of a gamer myself.”

Yugi looked up as the bell rang. “See you later!” he said as he moved towards the door.

Yami smiled and waved. Yugi turned around and walked down the crowded halls. Who knew he would find someone he liked already. `I especially like it when he smiles…' Yugi thought as he moved to his next class.

It was lunch time and Yami moved quickly so as to get his lunch and find their table. He figured he was too early as he found their spot outside, in the back near a tree, he sat down at the table and began to eat. Out of the corner of his eye he spotted Yugi. He waved his hand and grinned as Yugi spotted him. He walked up to the table and smiled.

“Hey, fancy meeting you here,” Yugi replied.

“Go ahead, take a seat,” Yami said scooting over slightly.

“Are you sure this seat isn't taken?” Yugi asked sitting down.

“Positive,” Yami said, “my other friends are usually here by now but whatever.”

The rest of the group had gathered in an open class room at Ryou request. They waited patiently as students raced by hurrying to get to lunch.

`How much do we tell them?' Ryou asked.

“Everything but the part about me, tell them you received a messenger or something…You two are bright boy's you'll think of something”

`Some help you are…' Bakura remarked sourly.

“I swear I saw Yugi today,” Joey burst out, “but he's dead.”

Ryou took a deep breath, “you did see Yugi and I am going to correct you…he was dead.”

“Was?” Honda asked.

“Let me explain…no interruptions please. Well after Yugi died we all know that Yami went into a huge depression. Well I had asked for help to save him because I know that Yugi didn't want Yami to suffer. He loved him so much he would never intentionally hurt him. Anyway so we got a messenger from after life offering us a deal. Apparently there was something wrong with the timing and “conditions” of Yugi's death and while listening to my request they decided to bring Yugi back to life, but-”

“There's always a but,” Joey muttered and raised his hand in apology as Bakura shot him a glare.

“As I was saying, Yugi does not remember anything about his past life. He has a new name as you noticed a new identity and everything. Anyway before a year has passed Yami and Yugi or Nakatsu now I guess have to A: Fall in love with each other and B: Yugi must remember his past life and still want to live and then he can stay otherwise he returns to the afterlife.”

Honda whistled softly, “those are a lot of rules.”

“That's what he said,” Bakura said pointing to Ryou.

“So don't slip or try to remind him of anything. Just act as if this is the first time you've met him alright. It's a last chance, a once in a lifetime thing,” Ryou warned.

“Alright,” Serenity said, “but this does sound like fun. It would be nice if Yugi and Yami would be able to fall in love and if Yugi could stay with us.”

The others nodded in agreement.

“We have to tell Seto and Otogi too,” Ryou said suddenly.

“I'll tell Seto I'm going over to his house later anyway,” Joey said.

“And I can get the message to Otogi, anyone else?” Honda said.

“Not that I know of, but anyone close to Yugi remembers that he existed so you have to tell them,” Ryou said.

“Huh?”

“Oh! I forgot, everyone but us forgot that he ever existed in the first place,” Ryou explained.

“I was about to point that out to you…”

`No you weren't,' Bakura argued.

“Okay well, I think it's time we went to eat lunch,” Serenity said as she began to walk towards the door.

Mistress: How was it? ^^ this story won't have much angst in it. Only abit ( SHOCK ) I know, I usually prefer to write depressing things….heh….but I guess variation is important. Review if you liked it!
