Lily: O.O At least he's more polite than the disclaimer dude…
Disclaimer dude: *popping out of nowhere* HEY! I HEARD THAT!
Lily: You're back! Quick, say the disclaimer!
Disclaimer dude: >_< I'm so out of here after I say it…SHE DOESN'T OWN YU-GI-OH! *disappears again*
Lily: Well, it's better than nothing I guess. Oh, and another thing. I seem to be mentioning Timbuktu a lot. o.O Don't ask me why, but after I saw “Anastasia” and the Royal Empress was talking about how fake Anastasias were coming from Timbuktu, I guess the word just stuck in my head! Don't forget to review!

Serenity snuggled closer to Duke. Everything about him was perfect. His lips, his touch, his everything. He knew exactly how to get her roused, and Serenity felt that nothing in the world could separate them.
Serenity already had plans for their wedding, even though that might be years away. Her perfect wedding dress would be a magnificent strapless gown, with the ends trailing behind her on the ground. Her shoes would be glass slippers, like in Cinderella, her favorite Disney movie.
Mokuba could be the ring bearer. That is, if Kaiba would loosen his vise-like grip on his brother first. Maybe Yugi could be the flower boy! He was certainly small enough, and would look so cute in a tux.
“Love, we're here,” Duke murmured, jostling Serenity out of her daydreaming.
Serenity looked around, seeing that they had arrived at the Seaside Dove, a very expensive gourmet restaurant. She was a bit surprised at first. Sure, Duke was romantic, but the Seaside Dove? Where in the world did Duke get the money for them? With a shrug, she climbed out of her boyfriend's old blue convertible and made her way over to the front door.
Duke intercepted Serenity, opening the door for her before she could touch the handle. Serenity smiled her thanks. Duke was such a gentleman.
Finding them a table, Duke pulled out a chair for Serenity before sitting down himself. Serenity sighed to herself. Duke's so romantic!
The waiter arrived, wearing a crisp white apron, dress pants, and a dress shirt. “May I get you something sir? Lady?”
“Not yet, we're still looking,” Duke replied, opening his menu.
Serenity did likewise and scanned its contents. Everything was so expensive! A simple salad, with no dressing, was $20 because according to the menu, the lettuce came from Timbuktu.
“What're you ordering Serenity?” Duke asked, looking over at his girlfriend.
“I don't know Duke…nothing's cheap here!” Serenity said, looking for the most inexpensive item on the menu.
“Serenity, this is my treat. Pick what you want!” Duke said, smiling.
“Thanks Duke! I think I'll have a Clam Chowder Soup, Fish Filleted, and a Timbuktu Salad,” Serenity answered. What the heck? She might as well enjoy herself. This might be the only time she could ever eat at a restaurant like the Seaside Dove.
“I'll have the same then,” Duke said, closing the menu. With a hand, he waved over the waiter.
“Are you ready sir?” the waiter asked, sounding like a recording. Serenity didn't blame him. The guy must've said the same words about 20 times at least today!
“Yes, we're both having the Clam Chowder Soup, Fish Filleted, and the Timbuktu Salad,” Duke responded, ticking off the items on his fingers.
“In a moment sir. The food shall be arriving soon,” the waiter said dully, turning away.
Duke faced Serenity, “I have to go to the bathroom okay? I'll be right back.”
Serenity nodded. While Duke was gone, Serenity tried to fold her napkin into a paper crane, but it was impossible. Finally, she gave up and started making wedding plans again.
“Here's your Fish Filleted lady,” the waiter said, carrying over two steaming plates.
“Thank you,” Serenity picked up her fork, ready to eat, but then decided against it. She should wait for Duke first; after all, that's manners isn't it? She checked her watch. It's been 10 minutes since Duke said he was going to the bathroom! Maybe he ate something bad for lunch?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In the bathroom…
Duke took his cell phone out of his pocket. At long last! He was away from that simpering annoying brat that called herself Serenity. Hah! That girl was anything but serenity. She annoyed him constantly, how can she be Serenity?
Duke punched in a few numbers on his phone and waited impatiently for the other line to pick up. Finally, on the 4th ring, a male voice said sleepily, “Yeah?”
“Er…Marik?” Duke asked.
“Huh? Duke? Why the hell are you calling me?” Marik exclaimed, sounding like he had finally woken up.
“Never mind that. Is your sister home?” Duke whispered.
“Why are you whispering?” Marik asked.
“NOTHING! Is your sister home or not?” Duke grumbled.
“Okay, okay, don't have a cow!” (I always wanted to type that…)
There was a sound of the phone being put down on the table, then a screech of “ISHIZU!” was so loud, that even Duke, on the other line, had to hold his phone away from his ear.
After a few moments, Ishizu picked up, “Yea love?”
“Hey sweetie bunch,” Duke gushed, “Sorry I took so long. The IDIOT Serenity wouldn't let me go.”
Ishizu sighed, “You haven't dumped the bitch yet?”
Duke sighed too, “I'm doing that tonight. I'll get to your house as soon as possible alright?”
“Yeah, yeah, but make it quick okay? I don't want your shirt soaked with her tears,” Ishizu muttered.
“Talk to you later hon,” Duke hung up. Plastering a fake smile on his face, he strode out of the bathroom and made his way over to the table where Serenity was waiting.
“Sorry `bout the delay Serenity,” he apologized, “I think I ate something bad before.”
“It's alright Duke. You're Fish Fillet's here! Come on, let's eat before it gets cold,” Serenity said.
Duke dug in, quite ravenous. Serenity, however, chattered throughout the whole meal about the math test that was coming up, how she wanted Duke to study with her, and how she totally loved him.
Duke never said a word during Serenity's endless talking. Instead, he just nodded at convenient times and saying, “ok” every once in a while.
Serenity must've noticed that something was wrong. “Are you okay Duke?” she asked, concerned.
“I'm fine,” he snapped, harsher then he had intended.
Serenity seemed offended at first, but then leaned forward to feel his forehead for a temperature. However, before she could even touch him, Duke jerked away.
Now, Serenity was really worried. “Duke, are you sure you're okay?”
Duke hesitated. Should he tell her now? Or wait till the ride home? Now was probably better. “Serenity, I've been thinking,” he started, “We should probably see different people. I've known you for a long time, and I think we both need to see different people. You know, make new friends and all. But I'll still be your best friend Serenity!” Duke hoped that his voice sounded sincere enough to not make her cry and make a scene.
Serenity was dumbfounded for a few seconds, and then burst into tears. How could he? All her wedding plans, all her hopes, all her dreams, were now gone.
Duke handed her a napkin. The other diners were looking over curiously to see what the fuss was about, and he did not need people telling him off for upsetting his ex-girlfriend.
Serenity pushed his hand away, and finally looked up at him through watery eyes. “You've been cheating on me, haven't you?” she whispered.
Duke was surprised. He wasn't that obvious was he? “Yeah, I guess you could put it like that…” he trailed off.
“I knew it! I knew it! You haven't even paid attention to what I've been talking about these past few weeks! I knew something was going on!” Serenity sniffed, “So who's your new girlfriend?”
“Ishizu.”
Shocked silence met his words. Serenity suddenly hissed, “Karma.”
“What?” Duke asked, startled.
“Karma!” Serenity said louder. “What comes around, goes around!”
“Oh please, don't tell me you believe that?” Duke said, rolling his eyes.
“It's true. You just wait. You're an incredible self-conceited fool Duke,” with those words, Serenity got up abruptly, upending the chair and hurried out of the restaurant.
~~~~~~~
The next morning
Duke rolled over in Ishizu's bed. Last night's memories flooded back to him. After he had finished his meal at the restaurant, he drove over to Ishizu's house and had a fantastic night of making hot, sweet love to her. Sounds of retching reached his ears. Duke bolted up to see that Ishizu was gone. He ran to the bathroom to see if she was okay.
When Ishizu was finally well enough to look up at him, she glared and gasped, “You IDIOT! I can't believe I even trusted you.” She turned back to the toilet to continue emptying her stomach's contents.
Duke was bewildered. NOW what did he do?
Ishizu looked up again and said, “You poisoned my coffee this morning! I saw you get out of bed and go into the kitchen!”
Duke was really confused now. He must've sleep walked! He would NEVER do that!
Ishizu finally stopped chucking and said, “You still love her! I knew you did!”
“What're you talking about honey?”
“Don't honey me! You said it right before you fell asleep!” Ishizu spat.
Duke was puzzled again. He must've sleep talked too!
Ishizu marched past him. Duke heard her rustling around her room and in a moment, she was back with Duke's things. She pushed them into his arms and kicked him literally out the door.
~~~~
Duke drove around, felling very lonely. Ishizu kicked him out for something he didn't purposely do, and Serenity must've hated him now. Wait! Serenity was such a softy, she would forgive him. He pulled up in her driveway and knocked on the door.
Serenity opened to the knocking, and looked very surprised when she found herself facing Duke. She smirked to herself. Of course. Ishizu dumped him. Karma always happened.
“Um, Serenity, I know I made a mistake. Will you forgive me?” Duke fretted.
“Why should I?” Serenity retaliated.
“But Serenity! I love you! We can even have a whole family together!” Duke groveled.
“No!” Serenity slammed the door in his face.
Weren't you the one who said that you don't want me anymore,
And how you need your space, and give the keys back to your door?
And how I cried and tried and tried to make you stay with me.
But still you said that love was gone and that I had to leave.
Now you
Talkin' 'bout a family.
Now you
Sayin' I complete your dream
Now you
Sayin' I'm your everything.
You're confusing me, what you say to me.
Don't play with me, don't play with me. 'Cause
What goes around comes around;
What goes up must come down.
Now who's cryin,' desirin' to come back to me?
What goes around comes around;
What goes up must come down.
Now who's cryin,' desirin' to come back?
I remember when
I was sittin' home alone,
Waitin' for you
'Til three o'clock in the morn.
And when you came home you'd always had some sorry excuse,
And explainin' to me, like I'm was some kind of a fool.
I sacrificed the things I wanted to do things for you.
But when it's time to do for me, you never come through.
Now you
Wanna be a part of me.
Now you
Have so much to say to me.
Now you
Wanna make time for me.
What you do to me, you're confusin' me.
Don't play with me, don't play with me. 'Cause
What goes around comes around;
What goes up must come down.
Now who's cryin,' desirin' to come back to me?
What goes around comes around;
What goes up must come down.
Now who's cryin,' desirin' to come back?
I remember when I was sittin' home alone,
Waitin' for you
'Til three o'clock in the morn,
Night after night, knowin' somethin' goin' on.
Wasn't home before I be goin', goin' gone.
Lord knows it wasn't easy, believe me.
Never thought you'd be the one that would deceive me
And never do what you supposed to do.
No need to hose me, fool, 'cause I'm over you. 'Cause
What goes around comes around;
What goes up must come down.
Now who's cryin,' desirin' to come back to me?
What goes around comes around;
What goes up must come down.
Gotta stop tryin' to come back to me.
What goes around comes around;
What goes up must come down.
It's called karma, baby,
And it goes around.
