-The next day, 10:20 AM-

Ms. Kawazaki: "Now where could Kiyobi be? I'm worried."

-Phone rings...-

Ms. Kawazaki answers: "Hello, Kawazaki residence."

???: "Is this Ms... Miyuki Kawazaki?"

Ms. Kawazaki: "Yes. Who is this?"

???: "My name is Doctor Roy Shimura. Your son is in the hospital right now."

Ms. Kawazaki: "What?! What happened to him?!"

Dr. Shimura: "Well, I'm kind of uptight with my busy schedule right now. It would be most convenient if you just come by to the Domino Hospital."

Ms. Kawazaki: "Okay then. I'll be there sometime after lunch."

Dr. Shimura: "I'll see you there."

-click.-

Ms. Kawazaki: *Hospital?! Now I'm really worried.*

-----

Domino Hospital, Kiyobi's room: about 10:30 AM

Sherry: "So is he all right, doctor?"

Dr. Shimura: "He's suffered a serious concussion and a couple broken ribs."

Sherry: "Ouch..."

Dr. Shimura: "And to make matters worse, he hasn't regained consciousness yet."

Sherry: "WHAT?!"

Dr. Shimura: "Just wondering, what's your relation to this boy?"

Sherry: "...Just a good friend."

Dr. Shimura: "Well, if you excuse me, I must be going. It's not just Kiyobi that's hurt you know."

Sherry: "Sorry for taking your time."

Dr. Shimura: "It's ok."

-Dr. Shimura leaves.-

Sherry: "I wish you'd be all right..." *Puts the rabbit plushy right beside Kiyobi*

-Sherry walks out of the hospital, where she runs into Mina, Johnathan, and Jimmy.-

Mina: "Hey Sherry."

Sherry: "Hey guys. What's up?"

Jimmy: "We just heard about Kiyobi's crash! How bad is it?"

Sherry: "Broken ribs, concussion."

Johnathan: "That's not good."

Sherry: "And he's still unconscious."

Mina: "Poor Kiyobi!"

Jimmy: "That must've SUCKED!"

???: "No! Really?"

Johnathan: "Who's that?!"

???: "Sorry, I couldn't help overhearing your coversation."

-The boy walks out from behind a hospital wall.-

???: "My name's Ben. Ben Kaiichi."

Jimmy: "Ben! 'Sup my man!"

Ben: "Hey Jim! It's been a while, hasn't it?"

Mina: "Who's this kid?"

Jimmy: "He's a friend of mine from middle school."

Sherry: "Hey Ben."

Johnathan: "Yo."

Mina: "Pleasure to meet you."

Ben: "Same to all of you."

Jimmy: "So what brings you to this side of Domino Town?"

Ben: "Well..." *shows his Duel Disc*

Mina: "You're in the Battle City Tournament?!"

Ben: "Yeah. I was looking for a person to duel when I heard all of you."

Jimmy: "Oh, I see."

Sherry: "Me and Mina are also in the tournament." *shows her Duel Disc*

Mina shows hers as well: "But now's not a good time to duel."

Ben: "I wasn't going to wager anything. What I meant was just a fun, no-worries duel."

Sherry: "Count me out. I'm not in the best mood."

Ben: "What's eatin' her?"

Mina: "You don't want to know."

Ben: "All righty. So who wants to play?"

Mina: "eh... I guess I'll take you on. Nothing to lose, right?"

Ben: "Right. Let's do this!"

-Mina and Ben take out their decks and start the duel-

Ben: "Ladies first."

Mina: "I don't know if I should..."

Ben: "Go ahead, I insist."

Mina: "Well, if you say so."

Ben draws starting hand: "This is going to be interesting."

Mina draws starting hand: "I agree."

Mina draws again to start: *I have both my Dark Magician and Dark Magician Girl in my starting hand! This isn't good. Without extra monsters, I can't summon my Dark Magicians!* "I'll just set these facedown (Giant Soldier of Stone and Castle Walls) and end my turn."

Ben draws: "Bad hand, Mina?" *Hmm... this is an okay hand...* "I'll summon Warrior Dai Grepher."

Warrior Dai Grepher

Earth Warrior

ATK/1700 DEF/1400

Ben: "Attack her facedown monster!"

Mina smiles: "Thank you. Activate Castle Walls! This'll pump up my monster's defensive power for the remainder of the turn."

Warrior Dai Grepher (1700) VS. Giant Soldier of Stone (2000+500 DEF)

Ben loses 800 Life Points.

Ben (LP:7200): "Good play. End my turn."

Mina draws: *Ooh! Talk about lucky!* "I sacrifice my Soldier of Stone for a face-down monster. I also set two more cards facedown. You're up."

Ben draws: "I activate Destructive Hand!"

Destructive Hand (OC)

Magic Equip

The equipped monster's ATK and DEF go to 0. When this monster attacks, destroy the target monster immediately.

Ben: "This card never failed me. Warrior! Destroy his facedown monster!"

Mina: "I activate Waboku!"

Warrior Dai Grepher (Destructive Hand) VS. Labrynth Wall (3000 DEF)

Waboku prevents Labyrinth Wall from being destroyed.

Ben: "Interesting... Make your move Mina."

Mina draws: "Yes! This is what I need! I activate Houdini's Last Trick!"

Ben: "What's that?!"

Houdini's Last Trick (OC)

Magic card

Pay half of your Life Points. You can then Special Summon as many Spellcaster monsters from either graveyard or your hand to your side of the field. This magic card is then removed from play.

Mina (LP: 4000): "Come forth, my Dark Magicians!"

-Dark Magician, Dark Magician Girl, and Black Magician appear on the field-

Ben points to Black Magician: "What's that?!"

Black Magician (OC... kinda)

The eviler side of the Dark Magician, this counterpart likes to wear blood red robes instead of the traditional purple.

Mina: "Basically a knockoff of the Dark Magician. But calling it that is messed up. Now that I have these three Magicians on the field, I can also use this card! Magician Unity!"

This card will only work if any of these three are on the field: Dark Magician, Dark Magician Girl, Black Magician, Magician of Black Chaos, or Dark Sage. Add up the attack power of the three magicians on the field, cut in half. The result is the damage done to the enemy's Life Points. You cannot attack with these Magicians again this turn.

Ben: "That's killer."

Mina: "Magicians, unite and attack directly!"

Ben (LP: 4000): "Eyargh!!!!"

Mina: "You wanted a good duel right?"

Ben: "Right. Good play."

Mina: "Thank you. I set one card down. Your move."

Jimmy: "They're both at 4000 Life Points!"

Johnathan: "This is just getting better by the minute."

???: "Hey! You kids!"

Everyone turns around: "Wha?"

Woman: "Should you really be dueling in front of the HOSPITAL?!"

Everyone: "Oops. Sorry."

Sherry: "Wait. Ms. Kawazaki? Is that you?"

Ms. Kawazaki: "Yes, it's me. Who're you?"

Sherry: "My name's Sherry."

Ms. Kawazaki: "Oh, yeah. Kiyobi's friend?"

Sherry: "Right. What're you doing here?"

Ms. Kawazaki: "Well, Dr. Shimura called me over."

Sherry: "So you heard about Kiyobi?"

Ms. Kawazaki: "That is right. Well, if you excuse me, I must be going. And could you all do everyone a favor?"

Mina and Ben: "Yeah?"

Ms. Kawazaki: "Could you move your duel a little bit further away from the hospital?"

Everyone: "Sorry."

-Ms. Kawazaki walks into the hospital, the rest walk a bit away from the hospital.-

Mina: "Where were we?"

Ben draws: "I just started my turn." *Well, this is impressive. She has three magicians on the field, along with the wall to protect her Life Points. I'm going to need a good monster... or a good Magic Card. Maybe this Needle Ceiling card might help.*

Needle Ceiling

Trap card

This card only works if there are at least four monsters on the field. Destroy all monsters that are not facedown.

Ben: "I'll set one facedown monster, and one other card facedown. You're up."

Mina draws: "Well, let's see..."

Ben: "Hold it right there! Activate Needle Ceiling!"

Mina: "Tsk tsk... I got something of my own! Activate Flip-Flop! This flips all faceup monsters facedown, and vice-versa. So I think you're out of luck."

Ben: "What'll they come with next?"

Mina: "Say bye bye to your now-faceup monster!"

Ben: "Grr..."

-Ben's Dark Blade is destroyed.-

Mina: "Yay! I now flip my monsters faceup again..."

-Mina's monsters come out of their cards-

Mina: "Attack him directly!"

Ben: "No, no, no! NOT THE FACE!"

Dark Magician (2700) attacks directly

Dark Magician Girl (2000+300+300) attacks directly

Black Magician (2700) attacks directly

Mina: "And that's game."

Ben: "Wow. I got owned."

Mina: "Good game."

-Mina and Ben shake hands."

Jimmy: "Wow Ben! You got worse." *laughs*

Ben (not seriously): "Shut up Jim."

Jimmy: "Sheesh man, take a joke."

Johnathan: "You owned him. Bad."

-Mina just smiles.-

Ben: "Next time, we're dueling for locators. And you're not gonna win. Got that Mina?"

Mina: "We'll see."

Jimmy: "Hey Ben! You wanna stick around for a while?"

Ben: "Naaw. I gotta find Locator cards. I'll see you around Jim."

Jimmy: "Laters."

-Ben waves goodbye as he walks deeper into the city.-

Mina: "So... what do you guys wanna do?"

Sherry: "I'm going to find some locator cards for the finals. See ya."

Mina: "Okay. See you later."

-Sherry walks on her own, leaving everyone else behind.-

Jimmy: "What's bummin' her? Kiyobi's acctident can't hurt her that much, can it?"

Mina: "Well..."

few hours later...

---

Jimmy: "Kiyobi and Sherry?!"

Mina: "Yep."

Johnathan: "Lucky guy."

Meanwhile... Domino Hospital, Kiyobi's room: about 2:30 PM

(Kiyobi's dream, in an creepy underground ancient chamber thing)

Devin: "Attack his Life Points one last time!"

Jimmy: "No!!!"

Devin: "You lose. Time to pay the piper!"

-Soul Seal absorbs Jimmy. Jimmy screams agonizing screams, then hits the floor.-

Mina runs to Jimmy: "Jim? Hey! Wake up!"

Devin: "It's no use. He's just a lifeless body now."

Mina (angrily): "Devin! I'll duel you!"

Devin: "You think YOU can beat me? Try me."

Devin: "Activate Raigeki and Harpies' Feather Duster!"

Mina: "NO!"

Devin: "Dark Ruler, finish her off!"

-Mina loses, Soul Seal takes her too-

Sherry: "No! MINA!"

-Devin chuckles evilly-

Sherry: "I challenge you now, Devin!"

Kiyobi: "No! Sherry!"

Sherry: "I must avenge my friends. He's done ENOUGH!"

Kiyobi: *Wow. She's got a fiery passion in her eyes. I can see it.*

Sherry: "Come on! Let's duel!"

Devin: "Destroy her, my monsters!"

Kiyobi: "SHERRY!"

-Sherry loses as well, and falls dead.-

Kiyobi: ...

Devin: "What are you going to do, Kiyobi? Everyone's gone except you."

Kiyobi: *What should I do?!*

-Kiyobi's deck glows.-

Devin: "What?"

Kiyobi: "Took the words right out of my mouth." *Pulls out deck and draws a card* *WHAT?! I never had this card!*

Angelic voice: "You've been destined to use this card, Kiyobi. This monster is The Master of Black Shadow. Duel him, and use this card. It will lead you to victory."

Kiyobi: *That voice... I don't know who you are, but I could believe almost anyone right now.*

Angelic voice: "Good luck, Kiyobi."

Kiyobi: "Devin! My turn to shut you down! And I have to say, this time, you're not going to win!"

Devin: "You sure about that?"

Kiyobi draws: "You're finished." *Shows his new card.*

Devin: "NO! YOU HAVE-"

Kiyobi: "This is for everyone you've hurt! I offer you my greatest beasts, my Chaos Serpent, my Trainer, and my Spirit of the Breeze! Come forth!" *Plays the card* "Master of Black Shadow!"

Devin: "How can you have THAT CARD?!"

Kiyobi: "Wipe him out!"

-Master of Black Shadow attacks, and a white glow envelopes the field...-

Kiyobi wakes up: "WHOA! That was a crazy dream..."

Ms. Kawazaki: "You're awake!"

Kiyobi: "MOM?!"

Ms. Kawazaki: "I'm so glad you're all right."

Kiyobi: *Huh? I think there's something in my hand...*

Ms. Kawazaki: "Huh?"

Kiyobi pulls out his hand from under the blanket: *The Master of Black Shadow!*

Ms. Kawazaki: "Oh yeah... WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN LAST NIGHT YOUNG MAN?!"

Kiyobi: "Someone dueled me and tried to take my soul."

Ms. Kawazaki scoffs: "That's the worst excuse I've ever heard!"

Kiyobi: "Serious! Ask my friends!"

Ms. Kawazaki: "Well... long as you're all right."

Kiyobi: "Ugh... my head hurts."

Ms. Kawazaki: "Get some rest. I need to get to work. I'll see you later."

Kiyobi: "See you later mom."

-Ms. Kawazaki walks out.-

Kiyobi falls back into bed: *That dream... and this card. Could this be real? Is this monster the only weakness to defeat Devin?!* "Oh, what's this?" *Holds rabbit plushy* "This is the rabbit I gave Sherry!" *Yeah, I think she digs me.* *Gives a plushy a gentle squeeze, making a squeak* "I wish you were here, Sherry." *Oh! I got an idea!*

-Kiyobi grabs the nearby phone and dials a number.-

Phone: "Hello? This is Sherry."

Kiyobi: "Sherry!"

Sherry: "KIYOBI?!"

Kiyobi: "Yeah, it's me. What's up?"

Sherry: "Oh my god, you're all right! I was so worried!"

Kiyobi: "I'm all right. My head just hurts..."

Sherry: "Although you could've called me a bit later..."

Kiyobi: "Why is that?"

Sherry: "I'm dueling right now."

Kiyobi: "Oh crap... sorry!"

Sherry: "It's all right."

Kiyobi: "Who's winning?"

Sherry: "Me... barely."

Kiyobi: "I'll leave you to duel. I think I need some sleep."

Sherry: "Okay. Good night!"

Kiyobi: "See ya." *hangs up, and falls to sleep.*

-Dueling scene: 2:40 PM-

Sherry puts her cellphone away: "So, where was I?"

Duelist: "I just ended my turn."

Here's the situation:

Sherry has two cards facedown, with 5800 Life Points. She's wide open for direct attacks!

The other Duelist has a Dancing Fairy on the field, with 5300 Life Points.

Sherry just started her turn.

Sherry draws: "Ooh! Yes! Activate Pot of Greed!"

Duelist: "Fine."

Sherry draws two: "YES! But talk about deja vu!"

Duelist: "Huh?"

Sherry: "First, I use Raigeki Break on your Dancing Fairy!"

Duelist: "SHOOT!"

-Sherry discards Kuriboh, Dancing Fairy is destroyed.-

Sherry: "Now, I activate these three cards! Scapegoat, Mage Power, and United We Stand!"

Duelist: "...that's bad."

Sherry: "Power up my goat!"

Mage Power: 1000 (2 cards)

United We Stand: 3200 (4 monsters)

Total: 4200

Sherry: "Attack him directly!"

Duelist: "oi."

Scapegoat (4200) attacks directly.

Duelist (LP: 900): "A Scapegoat attacking? I haven't seen that before!"

Sherry: "Now you have! End my turn."

Duelist draws: "Activate Dark Hole!"

Sherry: "NO!"

-Scapegoats get sucked into the vortex-

Duelist: "Now, I activate Black Luster Ritual! I offer these monsters in my hand as tributes... to Summon my Black Luster Soldier! Attack her directly!"

Black Luster Soldier (3000) attacks directly.

Sherry (LP: 2800): "This isn't over."

Duelist: "Your move."

Sherry draws: "Actually, it is."

Duelist: "Why is that?"

Sherry: "Activate Tremendous Fire!"

Duelist: "NO!"

Card analysis:

Sherry: "Game."

Duelist: "How could I lose..."

Sherry: "Cheer up. You still have locator cards."

Duelist: "You're right." *Hands over one locator card*

Sherry: "I never got your name."

Duelist: "My name's Ryou Arching. You?"

Sherry: "Sherry Wheeler."

Ryou: "Nice to meet you. I'll see you around, Sherry."

Sherry: "Right back at you, Ryou."

-Ryou and Sherry head their ways.-

Meanwhile... Dragon Hearts HQ

Kamik: "I have returned, sir."

Devin: "Good. Have you gotten any souls?"

Kamik: "I almost had this one guy... his name was Kiyobi."

Devin smacks Kamik: "YOU FOOL! You're supposed to save The Few for the tournament FINALS!"

Kamik: "A thousand apologies, sir."

Devin: "They probably know of our plan now. We need a loophole."

Kamik: "Hmm..."

Gary: "SIR! We're here!"

Devin: "What do you have?"

Rina: "Our seals are full to bursting! We need to clean them."

Devin: "Ahh... I see. Follow me. Kamik!"

Kamik: "Yes?"

Devin: "Watch who you duel next time."

Kamik: "Yes, sir." *exits*

Devin: "You two, follow me."

-Devin leads Gary and Rina to another chamber containing a few pillars.-

Devin: "Give me the Seals."

-Gary and Rina hand the cards over, and Devin places them on a pillar, one for each of them.-

Devin: "Ultima, I offer you these souls."

-Soul Seal cards wipe clean, Devin takes them and hands them to the two.-

Devin: "Here."

Gary: "Just wondering, can this card really break from overfilling with souls?"

Devin: "Yes."

Gary: "How many should we keep until we wipe them clean again?"

Rina smacks Gary: "Damn, kid. You're an uptight one."

Kamik: "Rina."

Rina: "Sorry."

Gary: "Better safe than sorry, right?"

Devin: "He's right. Overstuffing the Seal can cause some... disastrous effects. Come back every six souls. That should be enough."

Gary: "Thank you, sir."

-Gary and Rina leave.-

Rina: "Seriously, Gary. Loosen up!"

Gary: "Whatever."

Devin: "The plan is already underway, and pretty well I must add. Soon, with the force we need, we will rule the world!"

-Devin laughs evilly.-

(Minutes later)

Devin: "Hey. I nailed it this time!"

Mina and Sherry are pulling closer to the Battle City Finals. Will they win? Will Kiyobi get out of the hospital in time to stop the Hearts? Will Devin EVER step out of the headquarters?!
