Episode 6: Countdown

-Few days later... 11:15 AM-

Domino Hospital, Kiyobi's Room

Dr. Shimura: "Kiyobi."

Kiyobi: "Doctor."

Dr. Shimura: "I've got something to tell you."

Kiyobi: "I hope it's good."

Dr. Shimura: "I'm pleased to announce that you're released from the hospital. You can leave starting today."

Kiyobi: "That's awesome! Thanks, doc!"

Dr. Shimura: "Don't mention it. It's my job, after all."

-----

12:00 PM

Kiyobi walks out of the hospital: "Ahh... it feels good to be out again. I wonder what everyone's up to?"

-Kiyobi tours around the city, looking for anyone he knows.-

Kiyobi: "This is weird. Where could they be?" *puts hand in his pocket and pulls out The Master of Black Shadow* "I don't even know what this card does. I'd better take a look at it."

Kiyobi: "Wow... I'd better use this carefully." *phone rings*

Kiyobi answers: "Yello? Kiyobi speaking."

Ms. Kawazaki: "Kiyobi? Where did you go? The doctor said you got released."

Kiyobi: "Oh, hi, mom. I'm just touring the city."

Ms. Kawazaki: "You've just been released from the hospital! You need a little more rest!"

Kiyobi: "Sheesh, mom. You worry too much!"

Ms. Kawazaki: "Are you sure you'll be all right?"

Kiyobi: "I'm sure. If I feel bad, I'll go home right away."

Ms. Kawazaki: "Okay then. I'm going shopping. Bye!"

Kiyobi: "See you later, mom." *click*

Kiyobi: "Well, I'm still lost in the city." *phone rings* "Not again!"

Kiyobi answers: "Yello, Kiyobi speakin'."

Jimmy: "Kiyobi! I heard you're out of the hospital!"

Kiyobi: "Hey Jim. Yeah, I'm out, why you ask?"

Jimmy: "We all got enough Locator Cards to go to the Finals! We're throwing a pizza party to celebrate!"

Kiyobi: "Awesome! Where's the party at?"

Jimmy: "Our favorite pizza place, you should know!"

Kiyobi: "Speedy Pizza? All right, I'll be there as soon as I can."

Jimmy: "All right! See you there!" *click*

Kiyobi: *A party! All right!*

-Kiyobi starts walking to Speedy Pizza, where everyone else waited.-

Meanwhile...

The Dragon Hearts HQ, 1:00 PM

*knock knock*

Devin: "Be right there!" *flushing toilet sounds*

Gary: "Hey! Devin! Hurry up!"

Devin runs to the front door: "What's so urgent?"

Rina: "Well, since we got break time from gathering all the Locator cards, we decided to give a little something."

Kamik: "We just bought pizza from Speedy Pizza. You want some?"

Devin: "Ooh! Pizza, you say? Yeah! Let's party then!"

-----

Meanwhile...

Speedy Pizza, same time.

Kiyobi comes in: "Hey guys!"

Mina and Sherry: "Ahem?"

Kiyobi sweatdrops: "And girls..."

Sherry: "Thank you."

Kiyobi: "You already ordered the pizzas?"

Mina: "Yeah. We all got one medium for the each of us."

Kiyobi: "Aww, rats. You order for me already?"

Sherry: "Yeah. I knew what you like, a pepperoni, bacon, and hot dog pizza with a cheese crust, right?"

Kiyobi: "Thanks, Sherry!"

Few minutes later...

Employee: "Johnathan Gardener, your order's ready!"

Johnathan: "Thanks a lot." *slips a couple of $1 bills*

Employee: "Thank you, sir!"

Johnathan: "Don't mention it." *Grabs the pizzas* "Oh geez... a little help?"

Mina: "Can't carry them?"

Johnathan: "I can carry them, of course. The trouble is balancing..."

Kiyobi: "I got that." *Takes a few pizzas and carries them to the table where they sat*

Jimmy: "Let's dig in! I'm starving!"

-Everyone starts eating.-

Kiyobi: "So, you guys made it into the Finals?" *bites a slice*

Sherry: "Yeah! I'm so excited!"

Jimmy: "I can't believe I made it!"

Johnathan: "See, Jim? Practice."

Jimmy: "Yeah. Thanks a lot for the coaching, Johnathan!"

Johnathan: "That's what friends are for." *bites a slice*

Mina: "I'm kind of worried, though..."

Kiyobi: "Why's that?" *bite*

Mina: "What if we end up facing each other?"

Sherry: "Why would you worry about such a silly thing?"

Mina: "Well, I'd just feel guilty beating a friend."

Jimmy: "Don't worry about it. Just give us your best game. That's what we really want."

Sherry: "Jimmy's right. Give it your all, and no holding back!"

Mina: "Thanks."

Johnathan: "Jim scores another point for inspirational speeches."

Jimmy (not serious): "Shut up man."

Kiyobi: "You're taking this seriously. Relax!"

Mina: "You're right. Just play the game, and don't think too hard."

Kiyobi: "That's right."

-Everyone continues eating.-

2:30 PM

Kiyobi: "Well, that pizza was awesome!"

Mina: "Yeah, thanks, Johnathan!"

Johnathan: "It's nothing. Really."

Sherry: "It's time for me to go. See you!"

Kiyobi: "See you!"

Mina: "Bye."

Johnathan: "Later."

-Sherry leaves-

Jimmy: "I'm outta here too. Peace out."

-Jimmy leaves-

Far side of Domino City, 5:00 PM

Jimmy: "She said she lived right around here... 2210 Roshin Street..." *looks around and finds the house* "This must be it."

-Jimmy walks up and rings the doorbell-

Female: "Who is it?"

Jimmy: "It's Jimmy."

Female opens the door: "Oh! Hi Jim! What brings you here?"

Jimmy: "I owed you a duel, remember Natsumi?"

Natsumi: "Oh, yeah!"

Jimmy: "I made it to the Finals!"

Natsumi shows her locator cards: "Me too!"

Jimmy: "Awesome! So, you wanna play cards or what?"

Natsumi: "Sounds good. This could be practice."

Jimmy: "Yeah." *Let's see how good I do without Johnathan's help*

Natsumi: "Why don't you come in?"

Jimmy walks in and cleans shoes: "Why, thanks. It was pretty cold outside."

Natsumi: "No problem. It's always nice to have guests."

Jimmy pulls out deck: "So... where do we play?"

Natsumi: "Oh, sorry. Let me just clean up this table..." *takes junk off a table*

Jimmy: "And I'll just take these chairs..." *moves chairs to table*

Natsumi: "I'll just find my deck. Hold on."

Jimmy: "Okay."

-Natsumi walks to a hallway-

Jimmy: *She's cute.*

Natsumi: "Okay. Let's play!"

The Moto Residence, 5:30 PM

Mina: "Whew... that was a great get-together." *opens door* "Grandpa! I'm home!"

Yugi: "Welcome home, Mina. How was your day?"

Mina: "Great! I made the Finals!"

Yugi: "I'm proud of you."

Mina: "Thanks."

Yugi: "I remember when I played in that tournament when I was your age..."

Mina: "You won, right?"

Yugi: "I didn't do it alone. Joey was there, and Mai, Tea, Yami..."

Mina: "The whole gang, huh?"

Yugi: "Yep. But then, there was Marik."

Mina: "The evil guy, right?"

Yugi: "That is correct. You should be careful in the Finals. There might be another evil out to get you."

Mina: "What should I do?"

Yugi: "Just do what I did: Don't give up. Even when the situation is hopeless, keep fighting."

Mina: "That's good advice."

Yugi: "You still hungry?"

Mina: "I'm fine. I'm still pretty stuffed from the party."

Yugi: "I see. Well, more spaghetti for me!"

-Mina and Yugi laugh.-

Mina: "I'm going to my room. Talk to you in a bit."

Yugi: "All right then."

The Wheeler Residence, 6:30 PM: Sherry's room

-Sherry's on the computer chatting with friends.-

(Text surrounded like ^this^ is computer chat)

Sherry: ^so, yea. how was the party after i left?^

Johnathan: ^okay. died down a bit.^

Sherry: ^lol. what you doing right now?^

Johnathan: ^just talkin to people. you?^

Sherry: ^same.^

*KamakaziKawazaki (Kiyobi) has logged on.*

Kiyobi: ^SHERRY! wasup!^

Sherry: ^hey kiyobi.^

Kiyobi: ^you sound down.^

Sherry: ^im fine. just tired.^

Kiyobi: ^i c. i got a bit of a headache. i think i pulled myself too much right from the hospital.^

Sherry: ^lol. you ok?^

Johnathan: ^hello?^

Sherry (to Johnathan): ^yea, whats up?^

Johnathan: ^doing anything?^

Sherry (to Johnathan): ^hang on, kiyobi's on the other side.^

Johnathan: ^oOoooooooooooooo...^

Sherry (to Kiyobi): ^Johnny's online. want me to set up a chat?^

Kiyobi: ^aiite with me.^

Sherry: ^okie hang on.^

...

Johnathan: ^hey kiyobi!^

Kiyobi: ^wasup john^

Sherry: ^so, kiyobi. anything new?^

Kiyobi: ^not really. i dont know why im on the computer to begin wit.^

Johnathan: ^take a nap. thats what i do lol^

Sherry: ^lol^

Kiyobi: ^yeh, good idea. im outta here. peace^

Sherry: ^bye^

Johnathan: ^laters^

*KamakaziKawazaki (Kiyobi) has logged out*

Sherry: ^so anyways^

*QueenofHearts96 (Mina) had logged on*

Sherry: ^Mina's online. hang on.^

Mina: ^hey guys!^

Sherry: ^hey mina^

Johnathan: ^what took you so long?^

Mina: ^i was busy doing chores^

Sherry: ^YOU?! CHORES?! OMG^

Mina: ^lol. it was just cleaning my room.^

Sherry: ^oh. lol. well, gtg cya^

-Sherry logs off-

Sherry: "Well, the Finals are still a while away. I guess I can catch up on my sleep."

-Sherry goes to her bed and hits the sack-

The Kawazaki Residence, 8:00 PM

-Kiyobi walks down the stairs from his room-

Kiyobi: "What's for dinner?"

Ms. Kawazaki: "Your favorite!"

Kiyobi: "Awesome!"

*phone rings*

Ms. Kawazaki answers: "Hello, Kawazaki residence."

Sherry: "Hi, Ms. Kawazaki? May I speak to Kiyobi please?"

Ms. Kawazaki: "Well, we're eating right now, can you call back later?"

Sherry: "It can't wait. This is urgent!"

Ms. Kawazaki: "Okay, just calm down." "Kiyobi! Sherry's on the phone."

Kiyobi takes the phone: "Hey Sher, what's up?"

Sherry: "We got a bit of a problem here..."

Kiyobi: "What's going on?"

Sherry: "Mina's been forced to duel, and a Soul Seal has been played!"

Kiyobi: "WHAT?! I'll be over there right away!" *hangs up*

Ms. Kawazaki: "What happened?"

Kiyobi: "Mina's in trouble. I gotta get over there." *takes food and puts it in a portable* "See you later mom!"

Ms. Kawazaki: "Take care! Be careful!"

-Kiyobi runs up and grabs his scooter and helmet, and dashes out of the house.-

-----

A street in Domino City, 8:40 PM

Kiyobi dashes into the scene on his scooter: "Hey! Am I late?"

Sherry: "Kiyobi! You made it!"

Kiyobi hits the brakes: "So, what's happening?"

Sherry: "We got a Dragon Heart dueling against Mina. And they have the Soul Seal against her!"

???: *Heh... they still think I'm a Dragon Heart!*

Kiyobi: "WHAT?! We gotta get her out of there!"

-Kiyobi dashes to rescue Mina, but is thrown back by the Seal.-

Kiyobi: "Ow... what the hell?"

???: "Nobody can enter or leave the Seal once played. Just face it, your friend is doomed."

Mina: "Last time I checked, I was winning."

Sherry: "Come on! Kick his sorry butt!"

Kiyobi: "Just who in the hell are you?!"

???: "My name... is Derek. Derek Irving."

Kiyobi: "No... it's YOU!!!"

Sherry: "Huh?"

Kiyobi: "YOU KILLED MY SISTER!!!"

Sherry: "Ami??? Can you fill me in, Kiyobi?"

Kiyobi: "Ami... was my sister. A few months ago, Ami and I were throwing a bash. Derek was there. He was a good friend, until that fateful moment..."

(flashback)

Kiyobi: "This party was a great idea, wasn't it sis?"

Ami: "Yeah! The best party I had in a long time!"

Ms. Kawazaki: "Pizza's ready!"

Crowd: "Yay!"

(everyone eats pizza)

Ami: "So, Derek..."

Derek: "Yes?"

Ami blushes: "Do you... you know..."

Kiyobi: *Ami's got a SICK crush! Come on! Go for it!*

Friend: "Hey, Kiyobi? What you looking at?"

Kiyobi: "Nothing."

Ami: "Like me?"

Derek: "Uhm..."

Kiyobi: "Want some more pizza, Sherry?"

Friend: "I'm fine. This single slice should be enough..."

Kiyobi: "Don't hold back. Help yourself!"

Friend: "I'll keep that in mind."

Derek: "I gotta use the restroom... if you excuse me..." *heads to the "restroom"*

(end flashback)

Kiyobi: "I saw Derek get up from the couch and go to your bathroom... but then... through our front window, someone shot Ami right through her head. Some others were also hurt from the broken window's glass, including me. Everyone was terrified, everyone started running in panic. I looked outside, I knew who that was. I saw Derek retreat from the neighborhood. When he left, I went to attend to my sister. That was the worst moment of my life..."

(flashback)

Kiyobi: "Ami? Sis? Speak to me!"

Ami: "...hey bro..."

Kiyobi: "Just hang on! I'll get help!"

Ami: "...i never got the chance... to tell you..."

Kiyobi: "Don't die now! Mom! Call the hospital! QUICK!"

-Ms. Kawazaki rushes to the phone and dials an emergency-

Ami: "...don't give up... on your dreams..."

Kiyobi: "Why did you want to say that?"

Ami: "...i know how you give up so easily...i love you... brother..."

Kiyobi starts crying a bit: "I love you too, sis."

Ami: "...say goodbye to my friends for me..."

Kiyobi: "No! Ami! Don't... die..."

Ami: ...

Kiyobi: "No... you're not dead... you can't be!!! Ami? Ami!"

Ami: ...

Kiyobi cries: "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

(end flashback)

Kiyobi: "By the time the ambulance came, it was too late. She died in my arms."

Sherry: "Oh my god... that's terrible..."

Kiyobi: "DEREK!"

Derek: "What do you want?"

Kiyobi: "You enter our house, become our friends... even possibly go out with my sister, and this is WHAT WE GET IN RETURN?! MY SISTER GETS MURDERED?! Come over here and fight a man!!!"

Derek: "Just try and break the seal. When you get inside, that's when I'll fight you."

Kiyobi: "Fine." *runs to the seal and attempts to break it*

Kiyobi: "This is for Ami!" *punches with full force at the force shield*

-Soul Seal breaks, card flies towards Mina, and she catches it.-

Kiyobi: "There! I've broken your weak-ass seal! TIME FOR PAYBACK!"

Mina: "Kiyobi!"

Kiyobi: "Get out of here, Mina. This is personal."

Mina: "Okay." *runs towards Sherry*

Sherry: "Kiyobi's scary when he's mad."

Mina: "Yeah... Hey! Kiyobi! Catch! *throws Soul Seal card*

Kiyobi catches it: "I got an idea, tell you what. We'll duel, and whoever loses, dies to the Soul Seal."

Sherry: "NO! Kiyobi! It's too risky!"

Kiyobi: "Shut up Sherry!"

Sherry: "Oh my god... sorry."

Mina: "You see what I see?"

Sherry: "No..."

Mina: "Kiyobi's getting an aura glowing around him..."

Sherry: "Yeah... you're right!"

Mina: "Kiyobi's scaring me now..."

Sherry: "Let's step further back..."

Mina: "Agreed."

-Mina and Sherry take a several steps away from Kiyobi and Derek-

Kiyobi: "Come on, Derek! Are you scared?"

Derek: "HELL NO! Let's duel!"

Kiyobi: "Fine."

-Derek and Kiyobi draw their cards-

Kiyobi draws: "I'm moving first. I activate Soul Seal!"

-Soul Seal's force surrounds Kiyobi and Derek.-

Kiyobi: "I don't need tributes now. You're doomed, Derek! This one's for Ami!!!" *Throws card* "I summon my Serpent Light Dragon!"

Derek: "Great..."

Kiyobi: "You're finished! I set the rest of my hand facedown, and end my turn."

Derek draws: *Mischief laugh* "You're so gullible! I just drew the card that'll finish you!"

Kiyobi: "Try me."

Derek: "I activate Reversal!"

Kiyobi: "No! That means..."

-Everything mirrors-

Derek (LP: 4000): "I have your Serpent Night deck, and the Soul Seal working for me! And I just gave you the worst deck in the world! You fell for it Kiyobi! And now you're paying for it!"

Sherry: "KIYOBI! NO!"

Mina: "I can't believe this!!!"

Kiyobi falls to his knees: "Sorry, Ami... I failed you."

Will Kiyobi ever pull out of the hole he's dug himself into? Who will win the duel?
