"Kurama!" Genkai called, holding a flashlight out in front of her. She had heard cries for help. "Where are you?" She hoped it wasn't already too late. While she walked further and further away from her temple, she saw a branch shudder in the corner of her eye. As she whirled around, Hiei dropped from a nearby tree. "Hiei! Have you seen Kurama?"

"He left long ago," Hiei replied, turning his back on her and beginning to walk away. "I witnessed him leaving the mountain myself."

"Well I thought I heard screams," she said impatiently, searching the brush.

"You're getting old, and your mind is playing tricks on you," he replied. She made a face, and turned to argue back, but he had already left.

"Me going senile!" she exclaimed, continuing to search. "You're older than me, you little bas- Hey!" Genkai tripped over the root of a tree and fell to her knees, but the ground beneath her gave and she found herself clinging to the wall of a small cliff. She began to cry out for help herself, but the only one nearby was Shenkan, who was on the other side of the crevice, many yards away.

"The chances of finding a crevice on a mountain!" Genkai clinged for her life, but she doubted she could hold on much longer. She hoped Hiei was still nearby, and continued to cry for help.

Back at Yusuke's apartment, there was a shrill knock on the door. Yusuke awoke from his bed on the couch and opened it sleepily. Botan burst through the doorway and crashed into him.

"Yusuke, Hiei has just alerted me of an emergency back at Genkai's shrine!" she cried, shaking him completely awake by the shoulders.

"Wha-what?" he exclaimed, breaking free and grabbing up his jacket. "Let's get up there!"

As they ran, Botan explained the situation. "He told me she was searching for someone, thought she heard screams or something, and that she could have walked right into some serious trouble. You never know who you'll find on a mountain at night."

"Don't talk, just run." It was already six A.M. and the sun began to rise. When they reached Genkai's shrine, no one was around. Yusuke quickly opened the door to the temple, and found Yukina sleeping near the east wall, but no Genkai.

"Should we wake Yukina?" asked Botan. Yusuke shook his head and closed the door.

"No time for that. We've gotta find Genkai." As he glanced around, he saw some disturbed brush off in the distance, and walked in that direction. He searched thoroughly, and found a discarded flashlight. On his hands and knees, he looked closer, and discovered that just beyond a small tree was a deep crevice. "She could have fallen all the way down there!" He began to climb down, but Botan stopped him.

"Look," she said, pointing off to the right. Genkai still clung to the wall of the cliff, hungry, cold, and tired.

"She could have been stuck there all night!" he exclaimed, climbing towards her. She looked up at him sleepily, and he held out his right hand when he was right above her, which she grabbed with her left, and almost slipped. "Hang on, old lady." She nodded and grabbed his wrist with her right hand, and he began to pull her up to safety.

"Look Yusuke!" cried Botan, pointing further to the right, on the other side. A young, black haired girl wearing a green sweater and jeans sat against the wall of the cliff on a small platform, sleeping.
