Yu Yu Hakusho Fan Fiction / Fan Fiction ❯ Spirit Detective ❯ Show Stopping Girls ( Chapter 7 )
[ P - Pre-Teen ]
Back at the apartment Yusuke stepped through the door to see Kuwabara lain out on the couch all bandaged up. He was surprised not to see everyone's autograph all over his bandages, him being so darn popular. Yusuke laughed. "Can you move in all those?" he asked.
"It's not funny, Urameshi!" he exclaimed. "I've got an itch and I need to scratch it real bad!" He began to rub his back up against the arm of the couch, his expression a little pained.
"Why don't you just get your girlfriend to do it?" Yusuke hung his jacket up and kicked off his shoes. Kuwabara glowered at him.
& nbsp; "I'm not asking her," he said. "She's the one who did this to me. She's like my mother."
"I meant Botan," said Yusuke with a smirk.
"That is not funny, Urameshi," he said with an eyebrow raised. "You've got one sick sense of humor." Yusuke began to laugh as the door swung open behind him and hit him in the back of the head.
"Ow! Jeez!" he exclaimed as he rubbed his head.
Botan stepped out from behind the door. "Sorry Yusuke, but you deserved it after running off like that," she said.
"But it hurt. A lot," he replied.
"Pain where pain is due!" she said with a chuckle.
"Yusuke, I'm glad you came back," said Kurama, standing behind Botan in the doorway. "Hiei is waiting for us outside. Come on out."
"Okay, okay," said Yusuke. He grabbed his jacket and slipped back into his shoes, then stepped out with Kurama.
"Hey, I'm coming to meet the shrimp, too!" exclaimed Kuwabara. He tried to stand, and Yukina came in with a tray of tea.
"Kazuma!" she cried. He dropped back onto the couch. "I didn't move!" said Kuwabara.
Kurama and Yusuke made their way down the hall, and suddenly Shizuru came bolting up the steps and smacked into them both. "Shizuru, are you alri-" began Kurama.
&nbs p; "Where's my baby brother?" shouted Shizuru. "Is he badly hurt? Where is he?"
"He's right down the hall in my-" Yusuke began to say, but Shizuru shoved past him and into the apartment. Yusuke could hear her from where they were.
"You're so stupid!" she shouted. "You could have gotten killed! What were you thinking?"
"Sis, I..." said Kuwabara.
"You still fight like a little kid! You could have taken them out! Haven't I taught you anything useful? You're just a big loser! You never listen to me! You never take my advice! You just jump right into a fight!"
"Hi, sis!" exclaimed Kuwabara.
"But you could have gotten hurt a lot worse than this... Why didn't you just run away? Call for help? You don't have to fight every time you feel threatened! You're such a dork!"
"Yeah, whatever you say," said Kuwabara with a sigh.
Kurama and Yusuke raised their eyebrows and looked at each other, shrugged, and continued down the hall. Instead of taking the usual right to the front of the building, they took the long way to the back doors, and on their way they ran into a young girl. Literally. She stumbled backwards, but caught herself against the wall and looked up at the two. It was the girl Yusuke and Botan had rescued that morning.
"What are you still doing here?" asked Yusuke, grabbing her by the arm. "Where's Genkai?"
"The man was after me," she said quietly. "He was after me, and she tried to save me, but he took us both. I escaped, but she didn't make it back."
"Where is she?" he repeated, looking her in the eyes. She began to sob.
"I don't know!" she cried. "I don't know where he took her! I don't even know who I am or where I am or what I'm doing here!" She almost collapsed, but Yusuke and Kurama kept her upright. She continued to cry.
"Does she have amnesia or something?" asked Yusuke, looking at her curiously.
"Possibly," Kurama replied. "Let's take her back and go to meet Hiei." Before they could walk back down the hall, Keiko ran up to meet them.
"Yusuke, what's going on?" she asked, looking worried. "I heard something about Genkai from Shizuru!"
"I'm afraid we don't have time to talk," said Kurama. "Keiko, could you take this girl back with you?"
"Sure, Kurama." She took the girl's hand and showed her down the hall.
"Enough distractions. We have to get to Hiei before he grows impatient and leaves." They reached the back doors, and as Yusuke pushed them open, he looked around for Hiei, but he was nowhere in sight.
