Yu Yu Hakusho Fan Fiction / InuYasha Fan Fiction / Fan Fiction ❯ The Evil In Us All ❯ Midnight Healing ( Chapter 9 )
A/n- Sorry for the long wait!
IMPORTANT!!: This will be the last chapter I make on this pen name. Something went wrong with my account and it says my name does not exist, or some odd crap like that. My new penname will be: DragonOfDarkness in honor of Hiei's, as of now, most powerful attack. Go there if you want stories and more updates for this particular story.
Midnight Healing
Yukina leaned over the man, examining his wounds critically. Then she took her delicate hands, laid them about an inch over his chest wound, and made them glow a light blue with her healing energy.
She quickly drew a large bowl full of water (imagine there's a water pump nearby) to clean him with. She carefully cleared the congealed mess of blood on his torso. (she removed his shirt first, of course)
His mass of unruly hair was thick midnight black. His complexion was darkly tanned all over his body and his muscles, especially his abs, were defined and well-toned. She supposed, indifferently, that he was pleasing to look at in a human sense.
Yukina flushed brightly in shame. Gawking at someone while they're asleep is NOT polite.
Suddenly, she froze as Yahiko began to stir.
His dark brown eyes opened, more than a little dazed, as he looked around the room. Yahiko's gaze zeroed in on Yukina's presence.
Her aura was completely strange. Not threatening. Not that of a warrior. But he had never felt one like it before.
"Who are you?" he asked, unaware of how raspy his voice sounded.
"Please, just try to rest. I'm Yukina and you've been very badly hurt."
"How long have I been unconscious?"
"An hour, give or take…" Yahiko began to adjust his eyes to the dim light. He was amazed at her appearance.
Long, mint-green hair was delicately pulled away from her face, and tied with a red ribbon. Her eyes were a bright ruby red against a light, creamy pale face.
She looked at him questioningly, wondering why he stared at her so intently.
"Are you okay?" He mentally shook himself and smirked at her slightly.
"You have very beautiful eyes Yukina-san." She blushed slightly and looked away.
"T-thank y-you." He laughed at her expense, but stopped when the effort hurt his chest.
He looked down at his wound, or where it was supposed to be. It had closed completely and, except for the slight pain, it looked as though he hadn't gotten hit at all.
He looked up at her quickly. She offered the lame excuse of "Fast healing?" Yahiko's eyes widened, then just as quickly, they narrowed.
"You are not human, are you?" Yukina sighed.
"I wasn't the one who was supposed to tell you this, but yes, I am an ice youkai. Most of my friends, who are here with me, are youkai as well. We are also not from this time. <insert story here. Due to author's laziness and lack of memory, if I haven't already had the tantei explain to Kenji why they need his help, just pretend that they already did so.>
Yahiko listened to her story and frankly, he got to a certain point and just thought she was crazy.
How could she be from 500 years in the future?! After all, she looked like any other present-day Tokyo woman he'd met, minus the red eyes and green hair.
"Will you help us?" she pleaded. Yahiko hated seeing any woman beg, but he was still unsure so he let her continue.
"We've already spoken to your nephew and I'm sure he'll help." He wasn't sure what to believe.
"This is a lot to swallow, Yukina-san." Her face crumpled into a crest fallen expression. Not liking her upset, he smiled at her kindly. "But I promise to help you in any way I can."
Yukina's sad face broke into a sweet demure smile. "I appreciate it, Yahiko-san!" It was obvious she would have given him a hug; if she hadn't noticed his eyelids begin to droop.
Sensing his weariness, Yukina asked him to sit up for a moment. She swiftly changed his blood-soaked sheets with some clean ones she found near the bath house.
As soon as she finished, he laid down and fell asleep almost instantly.
She announced to the others who were just finishing their conversation that she would be spending the night watching over Yahiko.
She settled herself down into a comfortable position near his futon and tried not to nod off.
~~~The Next Morning~~~
Yahiko awoke to the unpleasant sensation of sunlight pouring against his eyelids and an itchy feeling of hair against his nose.
It took him a few minutes to realize that since his hair was too short, it had to be someone else's hair tickling him.
He sat up quickly. The effort would have hurt him last night, but this morning, thanks to all the rest he had gotten, he felt much better.
Lying with her head on her arm and her arm propped up on the side of the futon, Yukina slept soundly.
Her sea-green hair was struggling valiantly to break free of the red ribbon holding it up and some of it had been tickling his nose. Her lips were parted slightly and, to Yahiko, it all looked somewhat tempting.
He chastised himself for being such a guy (A/n- I love saying that. `You're such a guy!), as he gently lifted Yukina up and onto the futon in his place. She was so light and, he was shocked to discover, ice cold.
He froze for a minute before he remembered she was an ice youkai. Of course their body temperature would be different. Besides, she was breathing normally. He smiled.
It warmed his heart that this girl, for she looked pretty young when she was asleep, had stayed with him the whole night, making sure he would be okay.
Yahiko covered her with his sheet and watched her snuggle into the softness. Her kimono looked awfully uncomfortable, but he wasn't about to remove it.
He nearly smacked himself for the indecent thought. Looking down at her tenderly, he didn't even think as he stooped and gave her chaste kiss on the forehead. She didn't move.
He left the room and was amazed to see an entire group of people eating around the table. Kenji was talking and laughing among them. At the sight of Yahiko, the younger man's face broke into a delighted smile.
"Ohayo (good morning) Yahiko-sama! Would you like some - what was it called?" He looked at a female guest with, Yahiko nearly choked, sky blue hair. She answered his nephew perkily.
"Bacon." Kenji smiled at her gratefully.
"That's it! Bacon. Do you want some bacon?" Yahiko's face broke into a boyish grin not unlike the ones he used to use when he was ten and living with Kenshin and Kaoru.
"Why not, punk?" Kenji eyes held relief that his uncle was fine and that things were back to normal.
It was not until a moment later that Yukina entered the room. Her kimono was a little wrinkled but her small smile was on her face and she looked as composed as ever. Her face fell slightly.
"Oh Botan, you should have woken me up, I would have helped you make breakfast!" Botan waved her off and made a plate of food for her friend.
Kuwabara covertly took a seat next to her.
"Yukina, my love, your presence alone has made a better breakfast than this meal!" He said rather loudly, earning a few death glares from Hiei and Botan both. Yukina laughed, trying not to make the gesture sound uneasy.
Yahiko tried to make eye contact with her. It disappointed him a little when he heard the very tall orange-haired man speak to her so familiarly. The uneasiness in her laughter did not escape him, though. He had no idea why that made him feel a little better.
Of course she was beautiful, but they had JUST met. Why did she make him feel like a young hormonal teenager again?
After breakfast, the female half of the group took turns in the bath house. The girls respectfully let Genkai go first. When she was finished, she joined Kurama on the porch. (those things aren't really called porches are they? Well, you know what I'm talking about!)
The two of them silently observed the rest of the group. Kurama was the first to speak. His melodious voice filled the air. (I'm making myself drool here)
"There seems to be a lot of interesting chemistry going around. Have you noticed it Master Genkai?" She nodded in agreement.
"To be young and in love." She said sarcastically. "You can tell though, half of them don't even realize it, and the other half is too proud to admit it."
After about an hour, Botan consented to create yet another portal and they were off…
~A/n- alrite, well, wasn't that a long one? Remember what I said about that being my last chapter on this name.
Something I have to say: Time in this fic is going to be kind of slow. You may have already realized it, but all first three - or was it four? - chapters happened in the same day. The past two or three happened in the same night. I might speed it up later. So until next time on DragonOfDarkness!!
