Didn't You Notice?

I got it! in the first chapter where i went on about the whole not nowing is good and stuff. Well i found it its ~Ignorence is blice~ HAHA! TAKE THAT LITTLE PEOPLE IN MY HEAD! *Little men in lab coats with pointy things keep running around screaming bloody murder in her head.* Oh shut up no one listens to you anyways. *Tumbles in pain and the little men get out microphones and start screaming again.* I walked right into that one.. But anyways back to the story!

Chapter 3- I'M HICCUP FREE.... NOOO!! damn that sucks!

Kagome's father had always had a saying. Life is like Hiccups. When you life seems to jump and after a while seems to hurt just hold your breath and wait it out. [A/N: Thats acctually i saying I just made up.... well I've never heard it anywere else at least.] So thats what Kagome did, and it seemed to work. Over the past week she just held her breath and waited it out. And the hiccups seemed to mellow out. The rumors about her and Inuyasha finally stopped. Yusuke and her still fought a little but not as much, every things seemed to fit into place. Well inuyasha was still being a jackass but he has been like for years so it was normal. Kagome drove sango home. She had just gotten her licence and she loved it. On the way back to her house she pulled a letter out of her back pack.

To: Mrs. Higurashi [A/N: I dont know how to spell sorry]

That was somthing she always wondered about. If you are made a widow... are you still married, because you never filed for a divorce. Would you stay Mrs. Or would you go back to miss. Do you keep his last name or your madien one. She never talked about it really with anyone so she didn't know. She didn't really want to ask anyways.

She pulled to a stop in front of the shrine steps. She put the car in park, got out her and her stuff ,locked the car and then took off up the stairs.

Kurama, Hiei, Yusuke, Botan, and Kwabara were walking by when they saw Kagome jump out of her car and, its seemed like she was flying up the steps.

"Thats what Genki (A/N: dont know how to spell that either. Oh ya I'm not sure if she's dead or not I've missed the show for quite a while so she is going to be alive in this fic!) Needs to have all of you doing every day. Up and down the shrine steps.

Kagome grinned when she walked in the door and put her backpack in the living room then sliding her hand over the cool wall of the house. She walked into the kitchen to find every one in the kitchen. She slid the letter to her mother and went to the kubbord to find some food.

"You arn't in troble again are you." Kagome just grinned at their cans and cans of food.

"Most likly but its not a letter like that. It dosent say To the Parents of Kagome Higurashi does it?" Her mother let out a small laugh. She opened the envelope.

The Letter Read:

Dear Mrs. Higurashi,

I am having a little party, just a few people and I was wondering if you and your family would like to come. We haven't seen each other in so long. And Kagome, might get a little surprise out of the deal. I do hope you still remember were we live, if not I gave Kagome directions.

Kagome's mother smiled and folded the letter back up and put it back in the envelope.

"Well we have been invited to a small dinner party and the Ashtenkin. Would you all like to go?" She asked Souta jumped off his chair happily and started to bounch around, screaming things like "Yay! Yay!" Everyone in the room coulden't do anything but smile at his antics. Grandpa nodded sollemly, and Kagome still had her head in the pantry, seeming to not pay attention.

"I will take that as a yes then. Well I'll go give him a ring and let him know we are comming!" Souta ran over to Kagome latching on to her and tugging on her clothes to get her attention.

"Didn't you hear mom! Were going over to see Shippo for dinner!! Why are you still going to eat?" He almost screamed with enjoyment... well and some puzzlement. But all kids are puzzled most of the time anyways right.

"'Cuz I'm hungry twerp now go away." Souta sulked out of the room before tackling his mother for the phone to talk with Shippo. [A/N: if you haven't noticed, Shippo is Koruko's son. I'm mostly going to call him Koruko so.] Kagome went upstairs and took a shower, after finishing off her cookies of coarse. She got out of the shower about ten minuets later, with a towel around her body and another one wrapped up with her hair inside it, drying it off. She walked into her room closed the door and locked it. Just in case, her brother liked to barge in any time he wanted.

Kagome went to her closet and got out and put on some black baggy pants and some white addita's with silver stripes. She also got out a black shirt, with sleves that just pass the end of her shoulders and shows off her belly button. The shirt had the outline of a dragon in red, the dragon started at her left hip, and from back to front wrapped around the shirt. The head of the dragon ends up at Kagome's right shoulder. She pulled her hair up into a pony tail and walked out of her room. Every one else was already at the door.

"I'll drive!" Kagome said getter her keys and walked out to her black Jag with silver dragons down both sides of her car. This was from her dad, before he died. He put it in storage untill Kagome got her licence, and well Kagome got her licence. Kagome had put the dragons on herself, well not herself... she brought it into the shop to have them do it. Her grandpa was huffing a little when they got to the bottom of the shrine's steps, but other than that he looked fine for a man his age. Kagome's mother got in the front seat while Grandpa and Souta got in the back. Kagome grinned and sped down the street.

"Honey!! Honey!! PLEASE SLOW DOWN!" Her mother started to wisper while holding on to the door and bracing against the seat and glove compartment. Kagome looked over to her mother and gave her a weird expression. She looked down at the spedomider.

"I'm only going 80!" She said. "And we are on the highway!" She was completly confused but decided to slow down when they got onto a side street. About five minuets later, her mother was completely pale, they got onto Almond Ave. and stopped at a house with the number 1170. Kagome's mother sat in the car for a few moments able to acutally breath now. Souta was out of the car before it stopped and was running for the door. Kagome got out after him. Her mother finaly got out and help Grandpa to the door. Koruko opened the door smiling and a little ball of red hair and energy shot out of the house hitting Kagome right on the stomach she fell on her rump and looked down at a little 8 year old.

"Hello there Shippo!" She smiled happily as the two boys ran into the house up stairs to play in Shippo's room untill the grown-ups called them back down. Kagome was about to get up when she looked at the door and she sat back down. She glared at Koruko.

"You hate me don't you!" The boy in the door and Kagome screamed. There stood Inuyasha. [A/N: I'm going to have his mom alive in this fic. Mabye not for long but she will be alive.]

"Call me when its over. I'm going home." Kagome said. She got up and was going to walk away but she could barly move her legs. She looked down and Shippo and Souta were haning onto her. They were giving her puppy dogs eyes. [A/N: awww!!] "What?" She yelled at them.

"Don't goooo!!!" Shippo whined and started to cry. She looked down at him and picked him up. She looked back down at her brother who had his face down and was sniffling and wiping his eyes and nose with his sleve.

"Fine!" She yelled. The two boys brightened and she put Shippo down and they went around yelling and freaking out like kids do. They ran inside, Kagome followed their lead. She punched Inuyasha's stomach and he knocked her in the back of her head as they both went inside.

"YOUR ON MY FEET!" You could hear some one roar from the living room.

"INUYASHA, SESSHOMARU!"
"KAGOME, SOUTA!"
"SHIPPO!" Three woman's voices rang out at the same time.

"Yuri!" Two women yelled running into the hallway hugging Kagome's mom.

"Hiroki, Sanrou!" Yuri said hugging the women back.[A/N: Hiroki is Inuyasha and Fluffy's mother. And Sanrou is Shippo's mother.] Inyasha and Kagome just glared at each other as the entered the living room. Souta and Shippo were appologising to Sesshomaru. [Is that how you spell his name?] Kagome perked up.

"Sesshomaru. I haven't seen you in the hallways as of late." She said to him. He looked at her.

"Yes... I have been extreamly busy." Inuyasha coulden't help but laugh out loud. [A/N: in the serious do we ever hear anyone laugh?]

"Busy my butt! You spend all your time toutoring that Rin girl." Sesshomaru turned to Inuyasha and sighed.

"Its better than you, you sit in your room all day swaping spit and a whole lot more, with that Kikyo bitch." Inuyasha growled at his brother.

"Kikyo is not a bitch!" He roared at him. Kagome glared at him. She put her hand behind his head and her foot in front of his ankles. She pushed them both in opposite directions.

"SIT DOWN INUYASHA!" She roared and he had his face into the carpet. He took his arm and hit the back of Kagome's knees and she went down and joined him on the floor. She punched him in the face, and he kneed her in the stomach. Soon Inuyasha's mother pulled Inuyasha up by his ear and Sesshomaru grabbed Kagome.

"Kagome! Teach me how to fight!" Shippo begged, as Souta asked Inuyasha the same thing.

"No!" Inuyasha and Kagome yelled in unison, before looking up and glareing at one another.

"She what I have to deal with every day!" Koruko said. Yuri just blinked, and Grandpa looked like he was asleep.

"When did this happen. I thought you two were best friends!" Yuri asked. Hiroki and Sanrou nodded.

"Right after they came to junior high." Koruko said and sighed.[A/N: I think thats what it is in Japan. If not then right around the last years of Junior high or middle school and early high school]

"What!" All three women screamed. "What brought this on?"

"Kikyo." Kagome hissed. Sesshomaru let Kagome go and she walked to the table and sat down near the closer end. Hiroki let Inuyasha go but gave him one of her We-are-going-to-have-a-nice-long-talk-when-we-get-home looks.

Every one sat at the table. Koruko sat at the head of the table, His wife on his left and his son on the right. Souta sat next to Shippo, Sesshomaru sat next to Souta, and Kagome sat next to Sesshomaru. Hiroki sat next to Sanrou, Yuri sat next to Hiroki, and Inuyasha sat next to her. Grandpa was at the foot of the table... or the other head, on of the two. Inuyasha and Kagome glared at each other from the opposite sides of the table. Out of all the kids at the table, these two were the most likly to start a food fight.

The food was amazing. They had rice, rolls, roast beef, ham, and green bean cassarole. [A/N: it sounds like my Thanksgiving and Christmas meals... Only theres a lot more food there.] Every one talked and laughed, as long as Inuyasha and Kagome were not talking to each other. They were there a good hour and Sanrou decided to bring up a new topic.

"Kagome, we haven't had a chance to really talk to you since your father died. I know you love him a great deal, are you doing ok?" Something inside Yuri twisted and tightened, on the verge of snapping. "It must have been horrible for you! Him coming home for your birthday!" She said looking down at her plate sadly.

"I'm ok. I've been able to cope. My mo...." Yuri got up and walked over to Kagome.

"We need to talk... would you please excuse us." Every one seemed a little perplexed but nodded all the same. Kagome followed her mother through the kitchen into a den of sorts. "Oh Kagome it must be horrible for you! How could you deal with it Kagome?! How are you doing Kagome!" Kagome looked at Yuri frightened, she had never seen her mother get aboved an annoyed look.

"Mom sit down, it think you dont feel good." Yuri pushed her away.

"Oh im fine Kagome. Dont worry about me! I LOVED YOUR FATHER FOR 20 LONG YEARS! YOU KNEW HIM FOR 9! EVERY ONE IS WORRIED ABOUT YOU! WHAT ABOUT ME! WHAT ABOUT ME! I KNEW HIM LONG BEFORE YOU WERE EVEN THOUGHT OF!" Her mother screamed. She picked up some long wooden metal thing, Kagome had no idea what it was. But her mother picked it up as a club and smashed Kagome against the face with it.

"HE WAS MINE! YOU TOOK HIM AWAY! HE WAS COMING HOME EARLY FOR YOU! IF HE HAD STAYED THAT EXTRA DAY HE WOULDN'T HAVE BEEN ON THAT PLANE! ITS YOUR FAULT MY HUSBAND IS DEAD! ITS YOUR FAULT HE'S DEAD!" She screamed repeadily hitting Kagome with the club. Every one rushed into the room and Sesshomaru ran up to Yuri holding her from hitting Kagome again.

Kagome just sat on the floor and stared at her mother. She was bruised and bloody from the clubish type thing. She had gotten cuts from the edges of screws, as well as beaten with it. She didn't fight back for two reasons. One it was her mother, she would never in all the 7 hells and back hit her mother. And two .... she knew she was right. Her father was on a plane on the way home from a bissness trip. He wasen't even on the plane. He was walking to get a cab. Some one pulled him into an ally way and shot him. In his suitcase, was Kagome's birthday present. Souta just stared at him mother and sister in shock. His mother just beat his sister to a point worse than she had ever been in any fight, with anyone. Every one just watched as Yuri tried to get at Kagome some more, and Sesshomaru trying to hold her and hurt her. Hiroki called the police while Koruko helped Kagome up. She walked over to her mother and took the clubish thing from her. Her mother scratched her, getting her nails right in an open cut. Kagome hissed before giving her mother a kiss on the cheek and limped out of the room. Kuroku, Hiroki, and Sanrou walked out with her telling the kids to go upstairs for a minuet. Inuyasha went to keep and eye on them and Sesshomaru still had Yuri in the den and Grandpa tried to calm her down. You could hear her scream as she tried to get out Sesshomaru's hold.

Kagome smiled up at her older friends.

"Will one of you keep Souta and Grandpa with you tonight." Kagome asked.

"We will Kagome, but wont you be spending the night as well?" Sanrou asked. Kagome shook her head no. "But why not?" She asked as they could hear the sirens comming closer.

"I have some things to do. Just take Souta to school, and try and make sure Grandpa dosen't wander off some where. I'll try and be at school tomorrow. If I'm not try and keep Inuyasha from talking about it please." Kagome smiled as Inuyasha got dragged downstairs by the boys as they waited to see the police. Souta looked excited but when he saw Kagome he sobered, making the other two sober also. Inuyasha even looked over.

Their eyes caught one another's just for a second before the Police nocked on the door. Kagome sighed as the moment was broken when they both shared the connection they had as children. Koruko let the police in and showed them to Yuri still struggling against Sesshyomaru's hold. They brought in a gurny and strapped her down taking her back to the ambluence. Paramedic's came in and took care of Kagome as best they could while the police asked every one questions.

"You should go to the hospital, miss." One of the paramedics said. Kagome smiled at her.

"No i'll be fine thank you." After a few more questions the police left. Kagome got up and got her keys.

"Ohh no little miss. You can go and do things but you are not driving." Kagome just turned around and glared the best she could with out wincing from the pain.

"Aunt Hiroki, I will be fine. I'll give you a call when I make it to were I'm going so you wont worry. But I have some things to do, and I need to do them alone." With that she walked out as normally as she could messing up Souta's hair as she passed. He grabbed her waist. She looked down at him. He was crying. She bent down sort of worrying she woulden't be able to get back up.

"Whats the matter runt?" She asked her voice full of love and protectiveness.

"I was scared!" He wispered into her ear so only she could hear. "I thought mom was going to kill you. I've never seen mom made before." He said and started to cry into her shirt. Kagome rubbed his back and held him for a second.

"Shh she'll be fine. Now your going to spend the night with Shippo. Uncle Koruko, Aunt Sanrou, and Grandpa will be here. I'm going home to check up on Buyo and do some more stuff. I'll see you after school. I think you'll just come home with Shippo ok." She pried herself away from her brother and walked out the door.

She walked out to Dragon Fire, as she so lovingly named her car and fired her up and drove back to her house. She fed her cat and got her laptop and drove to the Library. She met the owner Keade as she was leaving. Keade handed Kagome the keys.

"Just let me in, in the morning." Kagome smiled and bowed stiffly to Keade and walked into the huge library.

The libarary was at least 4 stories tall. There were two spiral stairs to the diffrent levels. Each had some of those laders and go around on a track. The entire whole of each wall was filled with books on every thing imaginable. Kagome set her laptop up on a table on the 2nd floor and started to get out the books she needed. Working by flashlight and the light of her laptop throught the night and the next morning.

Grandpa, Hiroki, Sanrou, and Koruko sat up in the living room untill all the kids were in bed. Sesshomaru had driven himself and Inuyasha home, while Hiroki decied to stay with her friend until later.

"Poor girl!" Hiroki said sadly.

"Must have scared her to death. The first time her mother had every raised her voice in front of her she beat her!" Grandpa sighed and looked at them all.

"That wasen't the first time." he said, his old voice full with sorrow and wisdom of too many years. He had gotten all of their attention.

"When he first died after the police were done and decided there was nothing left to do.... She.... well she, went into an all out rage she beat Kagome untill she was nearly dead. Thats what sent her into an early pregnacy with Souta. I didn't tell the police, but I took care of her and helped her heal. Kagome has decided to completely forget that incident, but I know she still thinks of it. She wont retaliate against her mother because she thinks she's right. On her 10th birthday she started to chance. It was very slight. She used to love to go around and play, she would wear pink and dresses. She would still seem absolutly the happiest person in the world. But after that she never wore a dress again. So if someone attacked her she woulden't be caught up on a dress. I bet she dosen't even remember that. Soon she grew to like it, and decided to forgot the past. She has had to deal with to much, much to much." Hiroki and Sanrou were on the edge of tears and Koruko looked completely shocked. He looked up at the old man.

"Hey do you know who Yusuke Urameshi is?" Kuroku asked.

"Oh yes him. Well he see.... urr." He said looking truly annoyed. "She worked with him for a while. Nothing bad or anything, just... ah mowing laws and things. It was after Kikyo came into the picture." Hiroki perked up.

"Whats the deal with Kikyo anyways?" She asked. Grandpa just shood his head.

"No idea, she didn't talk much about her at all. Just came home screaming curses at the top of her lungs. Such like shall your nose be broken and your warts huge. Those types of things." Hiroki glared at the table.

"Inuyasha will talk to me about this... I will make sure of it."
