Summary- The Dark Tournament has come to an end. They all thought that their hard ships were passed. But when strange things start taking place a dear friend is lost and one consumed by anger and hate. Will this be it for the YYH gang or can someone or a group of people help stop what's to come?

Chapter 1

 

Normal POV

 

It was a great time for the Reikai Tentai. They had just survived the Dark Tournament and were on their way home. Genkai was even revived. They asked Yukina if she wanted to join them, saying that she could stay with one of them for a while. She said yes.

 

When they had boarded the ship they stayed in small groups. Yusuke, Keiko, Botan, Genkai, and Shizuru stood by the railing on one side of the ship. Kuwabara and Yukina were at the other end of the ship, thinking that they were alone. Hiei stood at a higher level of the ship, watching them.

 

He scowled as he watched Kuwabara show and try to sweet talk his sister while she only smiled. Behind him he could sense Kurama walking up to him. When Kurama reached him he stood beside him. Both of them stood in silence while they continued to watch the other two down below. Kurama was the first to break the silence.

 

“They look happy. Wouldn't you agree?”

 

Hiei said nothing and continued to watch his sister. Kurama tried again.

 

“Why does it bother you that Kuwabara likes Yukina? I'm sure he means well.”

 

Finally Hiei answered, but without looking at Kurama.

 

“Because he's a fool. He doesn't deserve her.”

 

“Why is that? Besides. Isn't that up to her?”

 

Both remained silent after that. Kurama soon left to join Yusuke and the others. Hiei continued to watch his sister.

 

“Hn.”

 

The rest of the trip past by quickly. When they reached the harbor they hurried off, glad to be able to put the Dark Tournament behind them. As they stepped off they formed a small circle.

 

“So I guess this is where we head our own ways huh?” Yusuke asked.

 

“Yes. I suppose it is,” Kurama said.

 

Yusuke, Kuwabara, Shizuru, Keiko carrying Puu stood together on one side. With Genkai and Yukina, Hiei and Kurama, and Botan standing in different places in their circle.

 

“So Yukina. Where are you going to stay? Cause if you don't have any place you can stay with me and my sis,” Kuwabara said.

 

“Thank you for your offer Kazuma, but, Genkai told me that I could stay with her.”

 

“I guess this is where I say my goodbyes. Well see you guys later,” Botan said as she summoned her oar.

 

As she flew off the others said their goodbyes as well and headed in different directions.

 

1 Week Later

 

Life had gone back to normal for everyone. Yusuke, Kuwabara, Keiko, and Kurama have gone back to school… well most of them did. Yusuke continued to skip most of his classes like before so he might as well not have been there.

 

Yukina was still staying at Genkai's temple. She said that she liked it there and Genkai allowed her to stay as long as she did some chores.

 

Hiei would from time to time go and see how his sister was doing or talk to Kurama. Other than that no one saw him much.

 

Everything seemed normal except for two things. Kuwabara's powers have disappeared and before that he kept getting vibes that would continue to make him feel uneasy. He told the others of his senses but they would tell him that he was just being paranoid. But unbeknown to the others, Hiei too sensed something. He also did not like the feel of it. He would constantly be on watch, making sure that nothing was sneaking up on him.

 

After a while he would go out in search of whatever it was that he sensed. But they all ended the same. He considered telling Kurama about his searches but quickly decided against it. Whatever it was that he was sensing he would be able to handle on his own.

 

Hiei had heard from Kurama that Kuwabara had lost his powers. He didn't know how it happened but he figured it was better this way. The human would no longer be a problem on missions since he wouldn't even be able to come along now.

 

A Few Days Later

 

The bell rang, signaling the end of school for the day. Yusuke yawned as he stretched.

 

“It's about time. I was beginning to think that this stupid day would never end.”

 

Yusuke reached for his bag and headed for the door. He would have been gone as soon as the bell rang but Keiko had caught him skipping classes earlier and forced him to at least attend his last two classes.

 

When he opened the door he poked his head out to make sure it was clear.

 

`Ok no Keiko. That's a good sign.'

 

Yusuke quietly closed the door and started to head for the stairs. When he reached them he slowly peered around the corner to make sure that Keiko was still nowhere in site.

 

`Still no Keiko.'

 

Yusuke hurried down the stairs. As soon as the front doors were in site he made a full sprint for the doors. As he was running a door up to his right opened and out came….

 

“Yusuke! Where do you think you're going!?” Keiko yelled as Yusuke ran towards her.

 

“Crap!”

 

Yusuke quickly ran past her and out the door. After running about a block Yusuke slowed down to a walk, knowing that he would be safe from Keiko's wrath for now.

 

“Man that was close. I wonder where Kuwabara is right now?” Yusuke thought to himself out loud.

 

He decided to head to the arcade to look for him.

 

At The Arcade

 

When Yusuke arrived at the arcade he started to look for Kuwabara. He looked through the entire place and still didn't find him.

 

“Screw it. I'll just play some games,” Yusuke said.

 

Just as he was about to sit down at one of the machines a certain orange haired teen came in. He spotted Yusuke over at one of the games and started to sneak up on him. When he reached the other teen he reached up put him into a headlock.

 

“I thought this would be where I'd find you Urameshi!” Kuwabara said in between his laughs.

 

Yusuke quickly recovered and pulled Kuwabara's hands off of him, pulled him to the front of him, and pinned him down by twisting his arm behind his back.

 

“There you are Kuwabara. I've been looking everywhere for you.”

 

“Yeah I could see that. Now let me go.”

 

Yusuke released his hold on his arm and Kuwabara turned to look at him.

 

“So what did you want?” Kuwabara asked.

 

“Nothing. I was just bored and figured that I would just beat the crap out of you.”

 

“Yeah, yeah Urameshi. Hey Keiko was looking for you earlier. She seemed kinda mad,” Kuwabara said that last part with an amused look on his face.

 

“Yea I had a feeling she was. I think I'll get going now before she tries looking here,” Yusuke said as he walked past him.

 

“Hey, wait a minute Urameshi!”

 

“What?”

 

“Wanna go to Genkai's with me to see Yukina?”

 

Yusuke thought about it for a minute. He soon decided that he would go. He heard that Hiei goes there from time to time to check up on Yukina and if he was there maybe he could spar with the three-eyed demon.

 

“Sure. It'll be nice to see the old hag after a while,” Yusuke said.

 

They both hurried out in the direction of Genkai's.

 

Stairs Leading Up To Genkai's

 

Yusuke and Kuwabara reached the stairs that led up to Genkai's after about an hour. They had a number of arguments on the way there. They started to ascend the many stairs that led to her temple. As they walked in silence Yusuke started to get a weird feeling. Yusuke narrowed his eyes as he continued to walk.

 

`What is that? It feels like a demon but where's it coming from? I know it's not Hiei and I know for sure that it's not Kurama. It feels like it's close but at the same time far away. What the hell is going on?'

 

Yusuke began to look around himself as he continued up the stairs. Kuwabara had been talking about something but finally noticed that Yusuke wasn't even listening.

 

“Hey punk! Have you been ignoring me this entire time!? Look at me when I'm talking to you,” Kuwabara exclaimed as he grabbed Yusuke by the collar of his shirt.

 

Bringing Yusuke back to reality he looked at Kuwabara with a stern face. Seeing this Kuwabara knew something was up. Letting go of Yusuke's shirt he asked, “What is it Urameshi? A demon?”

 

“I'm not sure. It's hard to tell. It feels like it's close by but at the same time far away. But if anything it has to be a demon.”

 

“Lets hurry. Maybe Genkai knows what's going on.”

 

The two nodded to each other and picked up their pace. When they reached the top everything seemed fine, but Yusuke could still sense the mysterious energy. They hurried up to the double doors and slide them open.

 

“HEY GRANDMA!! YOU IN HERE!” Yusuke yelled.

 

When they received no answer is when they began to worry. They stepped into the temple and began to yell for both Genkai and Yukina. As the started to get closer to the back they heard noise.

 

“Yukina!” Kuwabara yelled.

 

A door slide open to reveal Yukina.

 

“Kazuma?”

 

“Yukina! There you are. Are you alright!?” Kuwabara asked franticly.

 

“Yes I am. Why? What's wrong?”

 

“Where's Genkai? We need to talk to her,” Yusuke asked.

 

Yukina thought for a moment.

 

“The last I saw her she was out back.”

 

“Right. Thanks.”

 

“Hey Urameshi. I'll stay here with Yukina all right,” Kuwabara said.

 

“Whatever.”

 

Behind Temple

 

Yusuke went out back. It didn't take him long to find Genkai. She looked like she was trying to concentrate on something. As he walked up to her he asked, “Hey grandma. Do you feel what I feel?”

 

“Of course I do you dimwit. I haven't lost my mind yet.”

 

She got up from where she was sitting and turned to look at Yusuke.

 

“What do you want dimwit? I know you're not here for a friendly visit.”

 

“Just tagging along with Kuwabara and hoping that I would run into Hiei. But I guess he's not here,” Yusuke said.

 

“Well than don't just stand there like an idiot. Help me find out what this thing is that we can sense.”

 

“Yeah, yeah.”

 

Just as they were about to go into the forest to look something erupted back at the temple causing both of them to spin back around.

 

“What the hell!”
