Chapter 18~Home!




~~~Inuyasha paced back and forth in Kagome's bedroom. Luckily her family hadn't been home when they arrived. He didn't know how she or he would explain the way she was dressed. Hell Inu knew he didn't want to explain one damn thing about any of this. As it was it was still taking him time to process this whole Makai thing, spirit world and the spirit detectives. But at the moment the thing that concerned him most was Kagome. He had almost gone balistic when he had come into the clearing and seen Kagome. The smell of the shorter demon had been all over her. He knew the smell, the signs and had wanted to kill the demon. He needed to talk to Kagome and found out exactly what happened so he could determine how bonded she was to him. And if the little freak had forced his way on her. If he did, so help him because Inuyasha would kill him for it.

~~~He wanted to talk to her the moment they had gotten back, but Kagome had yelled at him, told him she desperately needed a bath and frankly some food. He of course had yelled back, but in the end he had been eating carpet while she got some clothes and headed off towards the bathroom. Now here he was fuming and worried. Kagome knew a lot about demons, she had to in order to survive as long as she had in the feudal era, but there was still a lot she was innocent to, such as the mating rituals and what not of demons. He wasn't sure if she knew about any of that and if she knew exactly what her scent was broadcasting to any demons near by. Hell he could smell it strongly and he was only half demon.

~~~Finally she had gotten out of the bathroom and came into the room smelling nice and clean, but you could still smell the scent of that spikey haired demon strongly upon her. The damn shrimp sure in the hell wanted to make sure all demons knew she was marked as his potential mate. The minute he opened his mouth to start the conversation, she sat him.
"Not till I get something to eat Inuyasha." she stated right after the sit as she waltzed by him and grabbed a brush from her vanity and put her hair in a quick pony tail and just walked out of the room with him still plastered to the floor.

~~~Inuyasha was of course growling and mumbling curses as he looked from the floor, the spell of the beads still not having warn off. When it finally did wear off, Kagome was downstairs cooking something to eat. He could smell the delicious smell of ramen as well as frying vegetables and beef, which meant she was cooking separate meals, one for her and his favorite just for him. His anger melted then and he sat with a automatic grumble, he couldn't just let her off the hook without it, it wasn't his style.

~~~Neither said a word as Kagome cooked and he sat at the table drumming his claws against the table irritably, it wasn't till he smelt the salt of her tears did he stop and look in her direction. She was still cooking, but her shoulders were shuddering slightly as she sobbed silent tears. He always hated it when she cried, and after the ordeal she had just been through and the ones he knew she was soon about to face, she had every reason for crying. But it still didn't mean he liked it. He got up and silently walked over to her and wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her to his chest so that her back rested against him and her head was tucked neatly beneath his chin. Kagome had stiffened at first but immediately relaxed in his comforting embrace. This was Inuyasha. Her best friend, her protector, her confidant.

"Please don't cry Kagome." he whispered with tender concern.

"Im sorry Inu, I know you hate when I cry…but its just that…." she paused and took a shuddering breath.

"I was so scared." she added softly, sadly and Inu hugged her tighter to give her any comfort he could.

"I should kill the shrimp." Inu growled and Kagome turned around slightly to look at him, she gave him a confused frown.

"Who are you talking about?" she asked.

"That spiky haired fire demon." he replied with a growl.

"I wasn't afraid of him silly….I was afraid of Inari and what he wanted from me….he…he wanted to mate me Inu and suck up my miko powers, then when he was done with me he was going to toss me aside after I no longer had anything left in me to give….I was so afraid…I knew the food and water was drugged but after enough time my body demanded nurishment and I couldn't help it, I had to eat. Because of him I did some things…things Im not happy about, but I was more scared of him, of him raping me." Kagome explained, with a slight blush to her checks but with more delayed fear than anything else.

"I saw his palace and that fucked up forest around it…the guy was a freak Kagome and you had every reason to be afraid…I should have been there…Im supposed to protect you and I wasn't there…" he started, but didn't finish before Kagome put her finger on his lips to silence him.

"How were you to know? You couldn't have, you always protect me Inuyasha, your always there for me when I need you." she told him with a warm loving smile.

"But I wasn't there this time." he replied.

"And you wont always be there when something we don't expect happens like this, Im supposed to be safe in my own time we both know that, we didn't expect anything so how could either of us have known? Its no ones fault, but Im really really glad its over."

"Is it? Did that fire demon kill the freaky demon that had you kidnapped?"

"No…Inari had left before Hiei got there."

"Then how do we know this is over? How do we know he wont try again?"

"We don't, but at least we can be prepared now that we know something like this can happen….Inu I know you cant be with me twenty four hours a day, seven days a week…"

"Who says?" he retorted. Kagome giggled.

"You cant, as much as I love you you would drive me insane Inu..I will just have to be more cautious when I come home and more aware of my surroundings."

"That will be good but it might not be enough Kagome."

"Then I will train harder with Sango and you when Im in the feudal era, Inu Im not going to let this nut bag make me look over my shoulder or jump at every shadow..besides if I can face down Sesshoumaru and Naraku I can face down some horney old fox demon." she replied with a determined smile. Inu wanted to smile too but there were other things than that freaky fox to worry about.

"Kagome there are other things that you have to worry about as well."

"Like what?"

"Like what happened between you and that so called demon that rescued you." Inu stated and Kagome really did blush a deep deep red.

"What happened between me and Hiei is no ones busines but our own, and besides, nothing really happened and its over now." she stated, trying to end this particular discussion.

"Actually Kagome something did happen and its not exactly over."

"What do you mean?"

"I mean Hiei made not have taken your virginity and mated with you, but he did the next best thing."

"Next best thing?" she asked with confussion.

"He marked you as his potential mate, he made sure that every inch of your body was permeated with his scent, and if im not mistaken, he bit you didn't he? Around the inner thigh area?" Inu stated and Kagome gasped.

"How did you know?"

"Its standard for mating rituals between demons…but by him not taking your maiden head and claiming you once and for all as his mate, he has put a huge target on you."

"What do you mean?"

"I mean a marked but unmated female is very alluring to other demons, its like a challenge to any other males to try and stake their claim first, to undo what he started and mark you thiers instead."

"So your telling me that Im going to have demons trying to mate me?"

"Only those that are originally attracted to you and those that like a good challenge and would normally see you as a good mate."

"And are you telling me the only way to not have any of that happen is to mate with Hiei and finish the ritual?" Kagome all but yelled.

"That is one way, but another way is to let the scent and mark wear off."

"How?"

"In time the scent of him will disappear and the mark will heal, when it does then all will go back to normal."

"And how long will that take?" she asked, already knowing she wasn't going to like this.

"Six months." he told her and he had to cover his ears as the house and most of Japan heard the outraged yell of Kagome not liking that information.




A/N~Okies heres the next chap. Not much action or stuff but had to get it out of the way.
