Chapter 19~Confrontations!

"I do not want to talk about it fox." came Hiei's emotionless tone, once Yuske and Kuwabara had left through the portal. He knew what Kurama wanted to talk about and he was not in the mood to talk to anyone about what had occured. Especially right now while his inner self was battling to not go after the miko and hanyou.

"I dont think you may have much of a choice Hiei...when Koenma finds out he will not be pleased." replied Kurama softly.

"I need not explain things to that annoying demi god." came Hiei's growled response, even if he knew Kurama was right. He was still on probation and Koenma had him by the perverbial balls.

"How about the miko Kagome? Did you not think she had a right to know what has transpired? After all you just made it very difficult for her."

"I did not take her...we are not mated."

"I know that, I can smell it as you well know...that there in lies the problem, you know that she will be a target for other male demons now...things will be very hard for her if and when she returns to the fuedal era."

"I will kill anyone who lays a hand on her." Hiei growled out, not really thinking, his instincts taking over.

"how will you do that when she is 500 years in the past? And why would you care? Since you did not see fit to finishe the ritual, I take it you did not find her suitable after all for a mate, so she is fair game now."

"Who the hell said I did not see fit to finish it?!!" Hiei responded heatedly.

"Then why did you not finish it?" Kurama asked with curiosity. He could feel Hiei's emotions and he found it interesting that Hiei might actually care for a human female.

"Drop it!"

"You know I can not"

"I dont want to talk about it!"

"Then I will just have to ask her then."

"Dont fucking go near her!" Hiei warned as his katana pressed into Kurama neck without cutting him. Kurama did not move, he knew Hiei would not hurt him, but then again, they had never had a problem like this before.

"Why did you not finish it Hiei?" Kurama asked softly as he remained as still as a statue so that Hiei's blade would not cut his flesh, but Kurama still looked calm and unaffraid.

"She would not let me." came Hiei's sighed response as he sheathed his Katana.

"She was affraid...she begged me to stop...I did not want to hurt her or cause her anymore fear." Hiei added. Kurama understood now.

"Do you care for her Hiei?"

"No."

"Then why start the mating ritual?"

"Something happened in the forest...it turned me into my more primal side...I could not control what it did...it wanted to mate, it wanted the miko." Hiei explained and Kurama was shocked and impressed. To be in such a state and still find the power to stop the ritual??? Wether Hiei admitted it or not he had to have some feelings for the miko in order to have stopped his primal side from taking her there and then. To not want to scare or hurt her was a sign that there was more than just mating in his mind.

"What will you do now Hiei?"

"Nothing....it will wear off in time and she will be free of me."

"Is that what you want?"

"Of course...how could I ever mate with a human female?"

"So you do not care that she will be going through a tough time till the scent and marking of you wear off?"

"I feel responsible of course but I do not see what I can do now that it is done."

"You did not kill Inari did you Hiei?" Kurama asked, the switch of topic confussed Hiei breifly but he was glad.

"No, he was not there when I arrived and took the miko."

"Do you think he will try to go after her again?"

"How would I know?" Hiei growled. He did not even want to think of that freak of a fox demon going after Kagome.

"If he does and smells the ritual marks, you know his lust for her will only double and make him want her more do you not?"

"I will kill him if he touches her."

"How will you do that?"

"I will watch her while she is in the Ningenkia."

"And what of when she travels to the fuedal era?"

"If I can not follow then I will have to trust in that half breed mutt to take care of her." Hiei responded, even as his blood boiled at the thought. He did not want that half breed anywhere near his miko. The minute the word HIS MIKO entered his mind he growled in annoyance. She was not HIS. He did not want her. He kept telling himself this over and over again, even as another part of him called him a liar.

A/N~okies heres the next chap, ok not soo good of one but I am trying. Yes it is short but hopefull my muse will come back soon and help me get this thing going again. Till then I thank you all for your patience and support, much huggles and smiles Mija..:-)
