Chapter 21~All Grown Up!

"So your telling me I cant go back??? your forbidding me to return to the fuedal era?" Kagome asked Inuyasha the next day, a purely shocked and almost hurt look on her face.

"No ones forbidding you anything...as if you'd listen if we tried." he mumbled and earned an angry glare from Kagome.

"Look alls Im saying is that after telling the gang what happened and all that we decided that at least for a little while, a few days or a week maybe that you could stay here...we all figure that you'd not only be safe but maybe the junk you usually use to taint your natural sent might..and remember its just a thought....might help the ritual scent fade a bit more faster...Kami knows when ever you use something stronger than light soap it sends my nose off...so hopefully it will help with the scent as well...and untill then we think that the sutras and me being here will be enough to protect you...." Inuyasha explained but was cut off by Kagome.

"Whoa...wait just a sec...you mean that while Im here your going to be here as well?" she asked, not sure if this was the best thing. Sure she loved the hanyou but being in her time made him grumpy as hell, his senses often went into overdrive when he was in her time and could barely tolerate just a day or two before either grumpiness or death threats of sits sent him back to the well and his own time.

"Well duh." Came Inu's reply and snort as he crossed him arms and lifted his nose into the air as if the answer should of been obvious.

"I dont think so Inuyasha...if I have to be here in my time then I want you to go back...help Miroku and Sango look for leads on shards so that we can get them as soon as you learn of them...Im sure I can cross over if you find a lead and then get the shard and come straight back here before anything major happens and in the meantime I will do my best to cover my natural scent with all the beauty products at my disposal....but till you learn of a shard then you will go back to your time and stay there." she told him point blank and the growl and look Inu gave her would of sent most humans and demons running for thier lives. Kagome was not phased.

"ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR EVER LOVING MIND WENTCH!!!??" Inuyasha shouted angerly, his face right in hers.

"Who the hell do you think is going to protect you?" He asked, still with a raised and angry voice but at least the noise level had died down a notch or two.

"First of all you arrogant self rightous dog eared bully...I CAN TAKE CARE OF MY SELF!" came Kagome's reply but was cut off before she could continue.

"Ya like you did with Inari?" came Inu's response and the silence that followed that comment, had Inu's ears going flat against his head and his eyes going wide for what he knew was coming next...he didnt have to wait long.

"SIIIIITTTTTTT!!!!" Kagome shouted and the sound of Inu hitting the ground hard made the windows on her wall shake.

"As I was saying you big mouthed jerk...I can take care of myself...you cant use Inari against me all the time...not even you oohh great one could of predicted it would happen, and now with the sutra's and my new awareness of him, he wont be catching me off gaurd again...Ive been concentrading and meditating all day to hone my miko senses to an even sharper edge than before...trust me when I say that no demon is coming near me unless he wants his ass purrified." Kagome stated with all the confidence of a true warrior.

~~~From the floor where the beads still held him Inuyasha looked up at Kagome and for the first time in his life saw it, saw something he should of seen quiet a long time ago. His Kagome had grown up. She was no longer the innocent, clumsy, untrained school girl he had first met. The person before him was a warrior, a miko and most of all a grown woman. A woman who had seen much in the last few years, who done more than anyone her age should ever have to do in a life time. He remembered alot about thier travels and recalled how even in her younger days, in her youth, how brave she had always been, how she had stubbernly refused to leave his side in battle or how she was always there to tend to wounds and heal both body and soul with her furture herbs and sweet smiles and positives words that never failed to lift all thier spirits. She had made friends with many people along the way, people that owed her thier lives, including him.

~~~No. She didnt need him to protect her. Once upon a time he had needed her to find the jewels, which he still did and she had needed him to protect her. Now she didnt need him anymore. When the last jewel was found and Naraku dead, would she even need or WANT his friendship? He didnt know what he would do if he couldnt see Kagome ever again, it would break his heart if she refused to ever speak to him again. When had she grown up? Why hadnt he seen it sooner? And what would happen now that she didnt need him as much anymore? What kept her coming back to his time, over and over again? Guilt? Responsibility? What ever it was he feared that soon not even those would hold her to him anymore and he feared that day. Feared it more than he had ever feared anything in his entire life.
