STARTING OVER

Ok I'm back to writing. YAY! Sorry for the wait but I should be back to updating like once a week or whatever I was doing before. Anywho thanks again for the suggestions and sympathies. ^_^ On with the story! Oh ya, I don't own jack.

CHAPTER 16
Shippou turned from Reiya to look over his shoulder at his mother's door. He thought he felt her ki stir, but it may have been his imagination. After all, she didn't have any reason to let her ki spike. She wouldn't ascend after she said she wouldn't, would she? She couldn't. She wouldn't leave!
His panic must have been showing on his face because Reiya placed a comforting hand on his arm.

"She wouldn't leave you Shippou-kun"
He covered her hand with one of his own and sighed. He didn't know why he was showing emotion to this demon, and he didn't know why he was about to talk to her…but it felt right.
"She would, everyone does."
Reiya scooted closer to him on the couch. What did he mean, everybody does? Her curiosity getting the better of her, she spoke her question.
"What do you mean?"
He dragged his gaze form the carpet to her face. Should he tell her? Is she trustworthy? Looking into her eyes all he could see was concern and curiosity. Grudgingly he opened his mouth to speak, only to have it hit the floor when he saw who was standing behind her.
"Haha-ue?"

The woman, who looked disturbingly like his surrogate mother, turned to him, then looked over her shoulder. She brought a hand up and pointed to herself.
Shippou's eyesight clouded and swam with unshed tears. She had left him, just like that. The feeling of betrayal bubbled up from his chest. She had left him. Shippou clenched his hands into fists and rose form his seat on the couch. She betrayed him. She left him…for the jaganshi. He screwed his eyes shut and tried hard not to let the tears spill from his closed lids. When he finally managed to speak his voice was harsh and tired and the same time.
"You said you wouldn't leave me Kagome, you promised me."
Speaking her name seemed to stir some reaction out of her still form.
"Am… is that me? Am I Kagome, your mother?"

Shortest chapter ever…but I told Courtney I would update and I didn't get a chance to get on my computer until like midnight so I just wrote this. I am working on the next one right now; I just wanted to post something. So sorry if this teeny tiny chapter makes you mad, I should have the next, full length, chapter up by tomorrow.
