I am really sorry for all the updated, I did all of them to make it easier to read. Just to let you know I didn't change the story at all, I just changed the spacing. Determining Demons

 

***With Kagome's Group***

 

The tall and handsome stranger was now facing Kagome. His long black hair traveled down his white robe. In his hand he held a silver staff with a blue glowing orb at the top of it.

 

“Who…who are you?” Kagome asked timidly.

 

“I am a sorcerer like yourself but with much more experienced. My name is of no consequence right now.” He focused on Kagome's brown eyes.

 

“No, you tell us your name or I'll kick your butt right here!” Sango was not in a good mood and it was not good to test her patience.

 

“Fine, my name is Paerto.” Paerto said in a low voice.

 

“Okay Paerto, how are you going to get us threw the barrier.” Kagome looked strait in his eyes debating whether to trust him or not.

 

Paerto looked around to see if anyone was listening. “I can get you in by turning you into demons.”

 

The others looked at him in silence and awe. “What do you mean turn us into demons?” Kohoku asked angrily.

 

“Its impossible Sango, no one can change another's physical state.” Miroku said examining him.

 

Suddenly Kikyo spoke up as she stared at Paerto, “You're the one.” She just stared at him. “You are the one Naraku had in the dungeon, you turned me human!”

 

Shock followed once again as everyone focused on Paerto.

 

Paerto looked down as if ashamed, “Yes, I am a very powerful sorcerer, I have the ability to change others forms. I'm the only sorcerer on earth that can.”

 

“Well forget it, if you were working for Naraku…” Paerto cut off Sango.

 

“No, I was not working for him, I was a prisoner of his. I am very much in your debt for destroying him. That's why I want to help you save your friends.”

 

Kagome thought with deep concentration, “How can we help them if we are trapped in there with them?”

 

Paerto studied her carefully, sighed, and then answered; “I don't know how you could do that miss, but I do know that you can't get in there without my help, I know your friends need you. I also can promise a return.”

 

“A return from what?” Sango asked angrily.

 

“You wouldn't have to stay demons, I will just turn you into them to get your friends. After you come out, I can turn you all back into humans.” Paerto looked at them as if pleading with them to do it.

 

Miroku didn't look the slightest bit impressed; he obviously didn't think that someone could do it anyway.

 

“Can I talk to you alone Kagome?” Sango asked as she pulled her friend away from Paerto, Kikyo, Miroku and Kohoku.

 

“What is it Sango?” Kagome asked.

 

“How do we know we can trust this guy?” Sango almost screamed.

 

“We don't know. He does seem like a truthful guy though.” Kagome said looking at Paerto.

 

Sango had to stop herself from rolling her eyes, “Kagome, I don't want to be a demon. I am a demon SLAYER!!!”

 

“He said he could turn us back!”

 

“Yeah, but what if he can't, or what if he won't? This could be a trap and we would be walking right into it!!!”

 

“Do you have any other ideas Sango? From what I see the only way we can get in there is if we are demons. We need to get threw the barrier Sango. I can't bear to stay locked out…they could be hurt and this is the only way to save them!!!” Kagome had tears in her eyes.

 

Sango opened her mouth as if to object then stopped, she thought for a second. “Okay Kagome, I guess we have no choice.”

 

Miroku walked over and delivered his two cense worth, “I don't think this is a good idea, we don't even know him.”

 

“Yes Miroku but we have to try something.”

 

Sango went back to Paerto and looked him square in the eyes' “No funny business.”

 

“Absolutely none.” Paerto answered the statement.

 

Kagome watched them, “Okay, well do it.”

 

 

***With Yusuke's Group***

 

Yusuke stared at the river; it was flowing hard and fast. `What to do? Come on. I'm a spirit detective, you would think I could at least get us across a river.' Yusuke then realized what he thought.

 

“Kuwabara, make your spirit sword.” Yusuke said abruptly as he looked at Kuwabara.

 

Kuwabara looked at him dumbly. “Why should I do that Urameshi?”

 

Yusuke rolled his eyes, “So you can cut down a tree and we can use it to cross.”

 

“Wow, aren't you brilliant Dim-whit.” Genkai said with annoyance in her voice. “I could have never thought of a tree.”

 

Yusuke ignored her as he found a tree that was really long and could get them across the killer river. After he pointed it out Kuwabara cut it down.

“Okay, lets cross.” Yusuke said as he began to walk across the long tree. Botan followed then Genkai. Unfortunately the water got ruff and the tree started to get a little slick.

 

“Um Yusuke? I don't think this is a good idea.” Botan said as she almost slipped.

 

“It's fine, just keep steady.” Yusuke said for he was almost across the river.

 

Kuwabara started to cross too. He wobbled back and forth. He looked down petrified at the water. “Urameshi, I'm not a good swimmer.” His foot slipped a little. “Urameshi, this is a dumb idea.”

 

“Stop you complaining or I'll push you in myself.” Genkai called back to him.

 

Kuwabara gulped. `Okay Kazuma, you can do this, your half way there.' Suddenly Kuwabara's foot hit a very slippery knot. The slip caused him to hit his head on the tree as he fell into the water.

 

“See Kuwabara, it isn't so bad…Kuwabara?” Yusuke was on land and he looked back. Kuwabara was in the water and rapidity being pulled down stream. He was moving so fast that within a few seconds he disappeared around a bin.

 

“Yusuke, Kuwabara fell in!!!” Botan said in distress.

 

Yusuke was about to jump in after Kuwabara. “Hold on Kuwabara, I'm coming!” When he was about to jump Genkai grabbed a hold of his shirt and wasn't letting go.

 

“What's wrong with you old hag? I need to get Kuwabara.” Yusuke screamed.

 

“If you go in you will be no better off.” Genkai said solemnly.

 

“You're joking! We can't just leave him.” Yusuke said.

 

Botan made her ore appear, “I'll go find him.”

 

“Hey, why didn't you use that to cross?” Yusuke asked in anger.

 

“I forgot about it, but now I can use it to get Kuwabara.” Botan said seriously.

 

Yusuke hated waiting but knew she was right, “What are you waiting for? Go already.”

 

And with that Botan zoomed after Kuwabara.

 

 

***Back with Kagome***

 

Paerto was looking at them carefully as if studying them. “I can turn you into few kinds of demons, whatever breed you want is your choice. I can also make it so that if you want you could look like a human.”

 

“What do you mean?” Asked Kagome.

 

“I mean that you can have a demon form but be able to switch and look like a human again.” Paerto explained.

 

“I see, its like Hiei, we will still be able to use our powers but we will look human.” Kagome said. “Will we still have the powers we have now? Will I still have miko powers?”

 

“Yes you will, this will give you other powers but you probably won't know how to use them. Your old abilities will stay in tack.” Paerto said confidently. “Its only temporary any way. When you get out I'll change you back.”

 

Sango gave a nod to Kagome, “Okay Paerto, change us.”

 

“Is everyone getting changed?” Paerto looked at them all.

 

“No, just me and Kagome…” Sango was rudely interrupted.

 

“Sango, are you suggesting I would even let you go alone?” Miroku asked with a lectures grin.

 

“What do you mean just you and Kagome? I want to help them just as much as you do.” Kikyo said for the first time.

 

“I want to go with you sister, don't make me stay here.” Kohoku said looking directly into Sango's eyes.

 

Sango wanted to look away, “Kohoku, it will be dangerous.”

 

“Yes because nothing I've ever done has been dangerous.” Kohoku laughed a little at his own joke. Sango smiled, her brother knew what he was getting into.

 

“Fine you can come, Kikyo, Miroku, I can't stop you so you can too.” Sango said.

 

“Don't leave Rin alone!” Rin suddenly said. “Rin want to help her Sesshoumaru.”

 

Kagome knew she couldn't stop any of them, “It looks like all of us are going.” She then looked at Paerto, ready for the change.

 

Paerto nodded, “Whose first?” He looked at all of the humans that would not be human for too much longer.

 

“I am.” Kagome got up and walked over to him.

 

“Miss Kagome, I believe I should…” Paerto then cut off Miroku.

“What kind of demon would you like to become?” Paerto looked carefully at her.

 

`Oh dear, I hadn't thought of that.' Kagome's mind raced, then a picture of Yoko Kurama came into her head. Then another picture of Shippo flew threw. “I want to be a fox demon.”

 

“So be it.” Then Paerto picked up his staff and aimed it right at Kagome. He muttered a lot of words that were in a different language. Kagome suddenly felt a tugging and very painful sensation. She felt panic rise up within her. “Wait, no” It was too late.

 

Kagome bent down in pain.

 

“What the fu*k are you doing to her.” Sango's angry voice sounded very far away. Then as suddenly as it started, the pain was gone.

 

“Kagome, what's wrong? If you hurt her…” Miroku's voice stopped as he stared at Kagome.

 

Kagome rose to her feet, Instead of the girl in a school gown there stood a beautiful fox demon. Kagome's eyes had changed to blue; her hair had turned a silvery white. She looked down at her hands and saw claws, long silver nails. Kagome felt her head; she was delighted to feel furry white ears. The last surprise for Kagome was looking behind her; she had a bushy, silvery white and very pretty tail. Kagome had pointed teeth too, and she looked really sleek with the white color.

 

Sango looked beyond surprised, “Kagome, is that you?”

 

Kagome giggled, “Of course it is. Who else?”

 

Sango smiled, “Well it does look…interesting.”

 

“Miss Kagome, if its possible…you look even more beautiful then before.” Miroku said barely containing the drool from coming out of his mouth.

 

“Be quiet you pervert.” Sango said as she pulled on his ear.

 

“We really don't have to much time, who is next?” Paerto didn't seem to impressed or shocked at Kagome's new appearance.

 

“Its my turn.” Sango got up.

 

“What kind of demon would you like to be?” Paerto questioned.

 

Sango knew the answer immediately, “I want to be a fire demon.”

 

Paerto looked at her, “There are a few types of fire demons, you could be a standard one, a fox kind, a phoenix kind, a dragon kind…”

 

“Dragon.” Sango stated.

 

“Are you sure, dragons are very powerful.” Paerto said.

 

“Positive.” Sango had a look on her face that told Kagome that she wanted to be powerful, more powerful then a certain three-eyed fire demon they were trying to rescue.

 

“If you insist.” Paerto then began the transformation.

 

Sango felt the same wave of pain, the same pulling sensation, she wished it would stop, she would do anything…then it stopped.

 

Standing where the demon slayer once stood was a very powerful looking warrior. Sango's skin had changed into shiny and sleek goldish colored red scales. The scales covered every part of her that could be seen, they moved very smoothly and shined as she moved. When the scales glistened you could see a shade of gold in them. Sango's eyes turned a red with a hint of gold. Sango's ears had gone back and pointed like a dragons wings. Her figure looked even more curvy and sexy with the scales. Her fingers had longer nails somewhat like claws. When Sango smiled she had pointed fangs instead of her normal teeth.

 

Sango looked down at herself, then she chuckled, “What no wings of tail?”

 

“I didn't think you wanted them with your fighting style, but if you insist.” Paerto lifted up his staff again.

 

“No, no no no no, that's alright, I don't want them.” Sango said quickly, then she paused.

 

“How would you know about my fighting style?”

 

Paerto froze, “Um…I just saw you had a Katana and wings and a tail would get in the way of a sword.”

 

Kagome was a little suspicious but decided to ignore it.

 

“Where's Miroku?” Sango suddenly asked.

 

“Oh, he fainted when he saw how you looked.” Kagome giggled as she pointed to an unconscious monk on the ground.

 

Kikyo then went up to him showing she wanted to be next.

 

“We meet again, what form do you want now?” Paerto asked.

 

“I want to be a…a…” Kikyo seemed to have trouble saying it, “A dog demon.”

 

Kagome didn't know how to take this, `she's made a decision, she wants InuYasha…and I've made mine…Kurama.'

 

Paerto nodded and raised his staff again.

 

Kikyo doubled over in pain then when she came up she looked a little different. Her hair was still black but longer and it had highlights of white throughout it. Her ears were dog-ears, not fox ears like Kagome's. (There is a difference; the fox ears are longer and pointier then the shorter flatter dog-ears) Kikyo's eyes turned a dark shade of gold. Her claws got longer…she did not have a tail but her skin seemed to get a little more color then it had before.

 

Miroku finally woke up, he saw how pretty all the girls looked in their demon forms…He was ready. “I would like to go next.”

 

“Fine, what demon do you want to become?” Paerto said almost in a bored voice.

 

“I want to be a…” Miroku looked down at the hand where his wind tunnel used to be, “a wind demon.”

 

“If you want.” Paerto raised his staff.

 

As always Miroku bent down in pain, when he got up he looked extremely different. Miroku's skin had turned to a light shade of blue, hid eyes had turned to a piercing white. His hair was still black but when he moved it had a shade of blue to it. Shockingly his purple robe blended nicely with his shade of light blue. Last darker blue tattoos seemed to appear on his face in a pattern of lightning bolts. (Kind of like Sesshoumaru's.)

 

“Wow Miroku, looking nice.” Sango said staring at him in shock.

 

“How about the young boy now.” Paerto was clearly in some sort of a rush.

 

Kohoku ran up to him, “I want to be a fire demon too, just not a dragon…I want to be a fire cat.”

 

The process was repeated and Kohoku was transformed into a human looking fire cat. Kohoku's skin had turned black with yellowish stripes. (Like Kirara's color fur, he looks like a more human boy form of Kirara.) His nails were sharp and his muscles seemed to grow. His ears pointed back, they were like Sesshoumaru's not Sango's. His teeth also pointed and he looked really powerful.

 

Sango just stared in disbelief. “Wow bro, you look…”

 

“We really must hurry, what do you want to be little girl?” Paerto asked Rin.

 

Rin looked at Kagome, she then thought about Sesshoumaru, and then she thought about little Shippo who she plays with sometimes. “I don't know, I like lord Sesshoumaru but I don't want to be a dog demon.” She seemed to think… “I know!!! I want to be a fox demon just like Shippo.” Rin giggled at the though of it.

 

Once again Paerto changed her into a fox demon. Kagome almost killed him for making Rin double over in pain though.

 

Standing where the human girl Rin had once been stood a very cute little fox girl. Her hair had gotten a little bushier but had stayed black, yet it had a brownish hint to it. She had a little bushy black tail and cute little fox ears. She looked at her hands and they had become more like paws then hands. Her eyes had not changed color but her teeth at pointed just a little bit. She looked absolutely adorable.

 

“Oh Rin, your so cute.” Kagome came right over and picked her up and hugged her.

 

“Well, now that it is done you need to go inside.” Paerto said quickly.

 

“If we truly are demons…why have we not gone crazy and run into the barrier?” This had been bothering Miroku for a while.

 

“They stopped summoning demons because they had already gathered all the ones that existed.” Paerto seemed annoyed by the question. “You must go now.”

 

Kikyo did, she walked over to the barrier and walked right threw. Next Kohoku followed, Rin followed Kohoku and Miroku went after him. Sango and Kagome bowed to Paerto,

 

“Thank you for helping us.” Kagome said happily.

 

Paerto had a small look of guilt come across his face; Sango did not miss it but decided not to ask.

 

“Y-yes,” Paerto turned to leave.

 

Sango and Kagome exchanged weird looks then turned to leave to. They were about to go threw the barrier when a hand grabbed each of them…it was Paerto's.

 

“Wait, before you go…” Paerto picked up his staff and tapped each of them lightly on the head.

 

They felt a cold sensation like ice water was running down their backs. “What was that for?” Sango said shivering.

 

“That was for protection. Now they wont be able to control you like they do the others.” Paerto looked away quickly.

 

“Wait, why didn't you give this to the others?” Kagome asked annoyed.

 

“Because I'm not supposed to give it to any of you.” With that Paerto disappeared, he really was a powerful sorcerer.

 

Kagome and Sango just stared at each other. “What do you think happened to the others?” Sango asked, worried of what the answer would be.

 

“I guess there's only one way to find out.” With that, Sango and Kagome walked threw the demon barrier together, walking into the unknown and the uncertain.

 

***With Botan***

 

Botan flew hysterically threw the woods, the river had come to an end but there was no sign of Kuwabara, `he must be taking refuge in the woods.' Botan thought as she looked around in a panic.

 

She saw movement a little way away, she decided to go for it.

 

Sango flew as fast as she could to the movement she saw but stopped dead when she saw who it was.

 

Kagome was on the ground obviously in pain with a man standing over her with a glowing staff.

 

Botan almost went in to stop it but stopped when Kagome got up and looked…Different.

 

Botan quickly hid behind a bush where no one could see her.

 

`Kagome is a…a…a demon?' Botan was beyond shocked.

 

She quite forgot about Kuwabara as she watched Sango be transformed.

 

When Kikyo transformed she was still shocked and trying to figure out what happened, `Who is this guy? Why was he doing this to them. They don't look like they are fighting him, they look okay with it.' Botan then watched Miroku transform.

 

She just stared at him; blue was a good look for him. `Wow, he is really handsome, after all…I do like the color blue.' Botan giggled in spite of herself.

 

She watched as Kohoku and Rin changed, `they all look very different, I wonder why they agreed to this?'

 

Botan's question was answered when Miroku asked about the barrier, which showed her that Yusuke couldn't get in either.

 

She watched as they all went threw the barrier. She heard what Paerto said and watched a he disappeared.

 

As soon as Paerto disappeared she ran out to catch Sango and Kagome. “Hey don't go, I need to ask you a question!!! What are you doing?” It was too late.

 

Sango and Kagome were already threw the barrier, Botan didn't reach them in time.

 

“I have to tell the others what's happening.” Botan said to no one in particular.

 

Then suddenly Botan realized why she was here in the first place, to find Kuwabara! She still didn't know where he was. `Curse you short attention span.' Botan said as she looked around to find Kuwabara.

 

She really did look everywhere, she couldn't find him. She searched every inch of the river and looked in every tree. She strayed off the path to find him but he was no where to be seen.

 

`Oh no, what if he's dead…No Botan don't think like that.' Botan thought.

 

She searched even more, she searched until the sun went down, she still couldn't find him and now her light was gone, she had no choice, she had to return back to camp.

 

She flew slower then usual because the she felt horrible, she hadn't found Kuwabara. But she still made it to where Yusuke and the others were.

 

“Well it's about time!!!” Yusuke yelled angrily at Botan. “Where the hell were you? I've been waiting in a panic weather or not my teammate is dead. I should have never trusted you with such an important…Wait, where's Kuwabara?”

 

Yusuke stopped yelling when he saw the look on Botan's face.

 

“Botan…Where's Kuwabara. What happened to him.” All anger had vanished from Yusuke's face, instead fear and worry was plastered on his face.

 

“I…I couldn't find him Yusuke.” Botan said and she broke down and started crying.

 

Yusuke looked shocked, he couldn't believe what he had heard. `Kuwabara is…No.'

 

“Ha, Ha, Botan. Very funny. Now where is Kuwabara?” Yusuke said in anger.

 

Botan just looked at him and shock her head.

 

“I'm sorry Yusuke, I just flew around the whole jungle to find Kuwabara and he wasn't anywhere.” Botan thought for a second, “You have now idea what I've been through.” Botan took a slow breath. “I mean you didn't just see half of you teammates get turned into demons and another one get lost…You didn't' have to see any of that.” Botan chocked on her tears.

 

“Wait what did you say…did you say turned into demons?” Genkai asked.

 

“Yes.” Botan looked in thought again. “ If you would just listen to me for five seconds you would know that Kagome, Miroku, Kikyo, Kohoku and some other little girl all got turned into demons!!!”

 

The sadness had disappeared from Yusuke's face, now replaced with shock.

 

“WHAT?????.”
