Chapter Four

Hiei stepped through the portal and into Koeama's office. The sleeping demoness still held in his arms. She mumbled something incoherent then snuggled closer to the warmth that was Hiei's chest. A slight unseen blush crept across Hiei's face at her actions. "Is that the experiment victim?" Koeama asked as Hiei laid her down on the spare futon that the ogre brought in not moments ago.

Hiei turned to the Prince of the spirit world and gave a brief nod before turning back to look at the others. It was Yuskie who spoke up first "OKHIEI YOU HAVE SOME EXPLAINING TO DO! WHYDID YOU RUN OFF LIKE THAT? WHOiS SHE!AND JUST WHY DID SHE ATTACK ME LIKE THAT?"he yelled at the top of his lungs making both Hiei and Kurama wince slightly.

Botan let out a soft squeal and covered Yuskie's mouth with her hand when she saw that the sleeping demoness was beginning to move around like she was about to wake. Everyone held their breath including Hiei as she continued to move around, But she only rolled over on her right side facing them then went back to sleep snoring softly.

Botan exhaled softly and removed her hand from Yuskie's mouth glaring at him dangerously. "Do you want to wake her up? You stupid idiot! You do remember what happened last time don't you?" She hissed quietly.

Yuskie glared at her "that's precisely what I want to know why'd she attack me like that!" he hissed back just as dangerous as her glare.

Kurama sighed and shook his head back and forth to the side. "Yuskie you should never walk up on a wounded demon especially a female demon. If she is to wounded to fight let alone escape she could lose herself in her instincts and attack no matter her condition." He said sighing "Because females of some species are rarely found all females have become like males and protect themselves. Some females of very rare species have been known to even attack their mates in their wounded state thinking it was their attackers that have come back to finish the job they started." He ran a hand through his long red hair and leaned back on the wall behind him.

{"To be honest I'm surprised that she let Hiei get as close to her as she did.}

^^What do you mean Yoko?^^

{What I mean is what you said… is true…, but how is it that Hiei got close enough to stop her from attacking Yuskie? Let alone even wrap his arms around her.}

^^For once I agree with you Yoko. It is strange that she did what she did.^^

Kurama came back to the real world to realize that someone was talking to him. "Kurama……Kurama………Did you hear what I asked fox boy?" Kurama turned to see Yuskie glaring at him expectantly obvious waiting for him to answer. Kurama blinked his eyes a second then shook his head "No sorry Yuskie what did you ask me?"

Yuskie rolled his eyes angrily and gritted his teeth very annoyed that he was being ignored. He glared at the Kitsune who now held a human form. He pulled his fist up in front of his face eyes tightly closed "I asked if you knew when she would wake up again?" he said through clench teeth.

"To be honest Yuskie there is no accurate way to tell. We don't know of sure how long she's been in the demon's custody so we have no idea just how long it will take for her to recover." Koeama's voice stated clearly as he floated over to look at her. Suddenly the room became very, very, humid and hot. All eyes turned to Hiei but they were surprised to see that he was looking at the lying demoness as well. "She feels you all as a threat it would be in your best interest to go now and wait for Koeama to contact you when she wakes." He said coldly looking at them now. When they didn't move and the temperature spiked another 10 degrees he added "Did you not hear what I said. I'm not the one raising the temperature in here. She is, and if you don't go now you're going to fry."

Yuskie's eyes became slits as he looked at the fire apparition "And what about you?" he asked as coldly if not more than Hiei. Already motioning for Botan to create a portal to the Ningenkai (Human World).

Hiei meet his cold stair and returned it just as cold "If she saw me as a threat then she wouldn't have told me to stop you from going near her earlier let alone let me get close enough to touch her."

Yuskie looked suspicious and hesitate for a second as if debating on whether up or not to stay or go, but quickly changed his mind when the temperature spiked up another 20 degrees making the room's temperature now somewhere in the 90's. He gave Hiei a quick glair meaning that she better not be harmed when he returned. Then he left through the portal.

<They're gone now. You can calm down.> Hiei said telepathically to the demoness. Immediately he felt the temperature drop down to the normal room temperature. He felt her connect with his Jegan.

<Thanks.> she whispered then fell into a deep restoring slumber that there was no telling when she would wake up from.
