Recollections

"Where is it?" Kagome ran sacked her room furiously. "Inuyasha is going to be extremely ticked off if I go back to the feudal era without the jewel." Angrily, Kagome sat herself down of her bed and cupped her hands to her face. "Maybe if I retrace all the things I did today, I could probably remember where I placed it. Okay, I know I had it on this morning and all through school. As I walked home, I talked to some friends and then that strange boy came. Wait, a minute, my necked did feel lighter than normal after he release me. Oh, that jerk! He is one that stole the jewel."

"Hey, sis." A boy's voice called from outside the door.

"What is it, Sota?" Kagome irately yelled at her little brother.

"Some guy with orange hair," Sota started to recall a semi bulky teenaged in a blue jumpsuit, Kuwabara, badly trying to go unnoticed as he entered the back of the temple. "just jumped down the well before I could stop him and I think he got transported. That is all I wanted to tell you." Sota said as he walked away.

"Wait, Sota."

"Yeah."

"Thank you." Kagome gave her little brother a warm smile as she stuck her head out the door. Sota returned the smile and continued back what he was doing.

Kagome went back into her room and gathered one of the jewel fragments that she kept in a bottle; encase of times like these, the jewel becomes stolen, she would still have a piece of the jewel for insurance.

The wind howled softly within the deep cave as the five travelers settled in for the night. The bright glow of the fire kept the cave warm from the cold outside and the sound of gentle breathing from the sleeping Rin resounded off the walls. Groggily, Hiei forced his eyes to open as the pain in the back of his head started to pound severely.

"Master Sesshomaru, he has regain consciousness." Jaken called out. The voice that entered his ears were unfamiliar to the small fire demon. Hiei's natural instincts to beware of an undefined danger, made him quickly sit up and reached for his, not present, sword. Hiei's fast motion made the pain rip more intensely through his head, making him clutch his wound. This was the time when he noticed that his wound was wrapped and his body was covered in a warm fur.

"You shouldn't move around so much. You are still recovering from your injury." Sesshomaru spoke impassively while looking into the fire like it held more interest than the awaken demon.

"Who the hell are you?" Hiei growled at Sesshomaru.

"Don't you talk to Lord Sesshomaru with such a tone of disrespect." Jaken said with a mild furry.

"Jaken."

"Yes, my lord."

"Get some rest."

"But Lord Sesshomaru…um…whatever you say my lord." Jaken was complete puzzled by his command but didn't question it as he scurried to another corner of the cave.

"How did I get here?" Hiei narrowed his eyes suspiciously.

"I found you lying unconscious in the snow and decided to bring you with me."

Hiei snared at his explanation, while analyzing his savior. "Not many demons save people out of the goodness of their hearts. There must be a reason why you helped me… If you're searching for another lacking, you better look elsewhere."

"Your blood." Sesshomaru simply stated.

"Hn?" A quick conclusion that Sesshomaru could be a blood sucking demon crossed Hiei's mind. However, it quickly dismissed when the demon lord answered.

"It's an unusual mixture that I can't place. I assume you must be a half breed because no other type blood that I have come across can cause such a scent."

A small rage began to build up at being called a half-breed but the pain in Hiei's head stopped him from recalling why he should be offended. Sesshomaru watched Hiei's face become uneasy.

"If the question makes you uncomfortable than you don't have to answer but at least tell me your name."

There was a prolonged silence between the two demons. "I don't think it's a difficult question to answer." Sesshomaru frowned slightly at the unresponsive demon.

'Hiei!' A memory of someone shouting, filled the fire demon's thoughts, and the same voice kept repeating the name in different pitches.

"I can't…remember.' Hiei admitted resultantly to the strange demon with long white hair. "I believe, my name is Hiei." For the first time that night, they met eye to eye.

'His eyes. They are bloody red but somehow, they have a tint of innocence to them.' Sesshomaru scoffed silently to himself as another thought came to him. 'Maybe he is a half-breed because no demon can hold such innocence.'

For Hiei, those golden eyes of Sesshomaru nagged at his locked away memories, something to with foxes and humans but the notion didn't last long as Hiei start to drift off to sleep.

"Yo, Kurama. Slow down!" The leader of the spiritual investigators yelled. The boys were running through the forest of ancient Japan after going through the well in the back of temple.

Kurama was in lead making the plants move out of his path as he ran. Growling in frustration, Yusuke forced himself to go faster and grabbed Kurama by his shoulder.

"Yusuke, let go of me." A commanding voice replaced Kurama's usual polite manner.

"You need to relax for a moment, Kurama. We don't even know if Hiei is in this area and we can't waste all our energy running to random places. Normally, I'm the rash one and you're the voice of reason." Yusuke laughed lightly as talks to Kurama.

"I'm sorry, Yusuke. I'm just concerned about Hiei. He was badly injured when he got pulled into the portal."

"You worry too much Kurama, somehow Hiei always manages to survive." Yusuke smiled reassuringly while patting Kurama on the back.

"Come on, guys. I can we take a quick break. I'm swiped out." Kuwubara panted as he came to his friends.

"We can't rest right now, Kuwabara. It seems like we have company." Kurama smoothly said.

"How dare you trick me!" A fuming Kagome yelled off the back of a demon with cat like ears.

"Kagome, what did I tell you about yelling my ear!" The demon said with great annoyance.

"I'm sorry, Inuyasha but that is the jerk that stole the jewel." Kagome pointed straight at Kurama. At that moment, Sango, Miroku, Shippo made an appearance along side their teammates.

"A couple of humans. This should be much of a challenge." Inyusha said with a smirk as he approached the three boys.
