She grabbed her books and went downstairs walking past Luna. She scratched behind the cat's ear earning a short purr before going into the kitchen and placing her bag by the door. She washed her hands and set the table for lunch ignoring the look she was getting not only from Serena but from her mother as well. For some reason she had been really excited to be going to his house today. Even if it was for something as simple as helping her understand human math, but he treated her like a human. A smile graced her face and she looked at the one she addressed as her aunt.

"Anything else??"

"You're in a good mood." Ikuko said waving off her question. "What are you planning for today?" Ikuko began scooping out lunch.

"Nothing really… I'm going to study for Friday's math test since I did so badly on the last one." She shook her head when Serena's annoying brother.

"Yeah she's gonna get tutored by that Minamino guy."

"Shingo!!" Hiana said with a look promising death.

"Shuuichi?!?!" Serena nearly choked on her drink.

"Yea, he offered to help me Thursday." She said.

"You know, he's really cute." Ikuko pointed out.

"…And polite too." Kenji agreed. "Why can't you find a guy like that instead of that Darien guy?" Kenji said leaving Serena at a loss.

"Well, Shuuichi and I aren't dating. He's just my math tutor."

"That's how Kenji and I started dating. I was his English tutor." Ikuko went glossy eyed as everyone shook their head.

"Well I got to get going. I was supposed to be there ten minutes ago." Hiana grabbed her bag and left. She took off down the street at a reasonable speed for humans to follow and she accidentally crashed into someone. "Damn I need to watch where I'm headed." She groaned as a hand was extended out to her. She looked up and saw the face of Kuwabara.

"Sorry about that. I was in a rush." He said.

"Me too…" She said taking his hand but let go immediately as a cold chill ran down her body while his hand felt like it was on fire. He shook his hand a little bit proving he felt what she had. She sat on the ground shivering.

"That wasn't normal." He blew on his hand.

"Got to go! Bye!" She got up and sped down the street still holding her when she got to Shuuichi's house. She stood and waited for the chills to cease before knocking on the door.

"Hello??" A woman opened the door to the address that had been given to Hiana the day before.

"I'm looking for Shuuichi Minamino??" Hiana spoke nervously. The woman smiled.

"Please come in, I believe Shuuichi's been expecting you." She said as Hiana removed her shoes at the doorway and smiled. "Shuuichi has gone to the store to pick up some things for you both to snack on. He should be back shortly."

"He didn't have to go through all the trouble." Hiana remarked settling herself at the table.

"Well, it's too late to stop him now. So how did you meet my Shuuichi??"

"Well, I'm in most of his classes. We really didn't start speaking until he found out I was really bad in math and offered to help me today."

"That's nice. It's been a while since he's brought a friend to visit." She smiled at him as the door then opened." Shuuichi, is that you??"

"Yes, Mother." He walked into the kitchen where Hiana and his mother were sitting. Hiana gave him a bright smile that made his eyebrows lift a little bit. "Hello."

"Hi!" Her smile didn't falter and Shuuichi's mother cleared her throat breaking the awkward silence.

"Uhmm I made space in the basement if you don't mind." Shuuichi said.

"It's fine with me." Hiana stood. "It was nice talking to you Minamino-san."

"Likewise…"

"The basement door is open… I'll be right down." He said and Hiana grabbed her books and went downstairs.

"You must like this girl Shuuichi." His mother said randomly making him freeze. "You're going through such lengths to make sure she's comfortable only to be teaching her math." The woman left the boy to his thoughts. It hadn't occurred to him how much he was putting into her comfort but, it was true when he was close to her or when she smile she feels strange… a good strange. A strange that stirred up a lot of emotions… emotions like wanting to hold her close, feeling her small body against his own in more ways than one.

'I must stop thinking like this.' He forced himself to no longer be distracted by her captivating smile, or every curve of her body. 'Stop!!' He fussed at himself before letting out a long sigh.

He took down some of the things he brought from the store and went downstairs only to find Hiana sitting on the couching singing one of the newer songs on the radio she had turned on. The words spoke of how a person wanted to be in love but didn't know how to be in love mainly because she was afraid of the world and doesn't want to be alone. His youkai hearing allowed him to differentiate her voice form the singer on the radio and she had a nice singing voice, but she looked so sad... as if she could relate to the words. The song ended and she opened her eyes. They looked so sad for the moment but she realized he had come downstairs.

"Sorry about that." She grinned sheepishly bringing back the tingles that surged through his system.

"It's okay. Let's get started Shall we?" Finally after sitting net to her and opening their books he got a good whiff of her perfume. It smelled like flowers… really nice. Okay so he really did like her a lot and something about her was more attractive than any other girl… almost as if she could fill this dying need in him that he had begun to notice a little while ago.

"Koenma sir…" One of his messengers ran into the room holding three folders.

"What?!?!" Koenma nearly yelled. He had more than enough troubles on his mind since six being were able to get out of Spirit World Alkatraz, but he isn't sure of any motives yet!

"We have quite a few problems revolving around the blind mission Yuske is on." The messenger handed Koenma the folders. Koenma gave him a stare that told him to back up form which the blue being did. Koenma opened the first folder. Inside was a picture of a staff. The staff seemed to be made of some sort of crystal. "This is one of the last remaining items from the White moon era, is it not??"

"Yes, and one of the most powerful at that..." The demon said.

"I know that. But what does this have to do with Yuske's case?"

"Well, from my understanding Kiara left Spirit World Alkatraz in search of Yuske and the Moon Princess, who is in the possession of the Silver Imperial crystal. We have suspicion that she is trying to take on Rando's final plan herself unaware that he too is free." The beast paused. "If either Rando or Kiara have the princess in their possession and the staff it could make what the Saint Beast plan to take over the living world come into action…"

"GET ME BOTAN IMMEDIATELY!!!" Koenma yelled pushing the beast out of his office and sat at his desk. 'Yuske hasn't failed a case yet and he better not start now.' Koenma sighed opening the second folder it was a file on youkai spirits and their life styles. Apparently animal spirits grow a stronger need to find a mate during the year when adolescents grow to a close. For a moment Koenma was completely confused as to what was going on until it clicked in his mind… Kurama could be found useless on this mission if he becomes distracted, and if the Saint Beasts are involved it would be a four on three match-up. "Why me?"

"Thanks, Shuuichi!" Hiana stood up and stretched.

"If you need any extra help please don't hesitate to ask.

"I'm pretty sure I have an understanding now. I really should be going I promised to help make dinner."

"Okay. Then" He walked her to the door. "See you Monday then." He watched her leave the house and strangely it felt lonely not having her nearby. He closed the door when she was out of sight and went upstairs. "I'm going to rest before dinner, Mother!" He said to his mother who was currently in the kitchen. She gave a nod and he went upstairs and headed to the bathroom. He splashed cold water on his face trying to rid himself of her scent … unfortunately they had been sitting close enough for his clothes to smell like her.

Slowly he made his way to his bed and just laid there looking at the ceiling, just inhaling her scent knowing it was probably best if he showered and cleared his thoughts but too much of him wanted to think about her, to memorize everything about her. He needed her to be close, to want to be near him and forget about the likes of Yuske Urameshi.

'Yuske…' His thoughts turned cold for a moment as sleep overcame him. 'The unspoken rival. The race for her heart begins.' The thought ran through his mind before falling completely asleep.
