Chapter Three -- Yusuke Makes a Mistake

Yusuke managed to hold his tounge for the rest of the trip to Japan, though when he stepped onto the plane and found out that the entire first class had been reserved for Akari, he had been sorely tempted to say something. He had a job to do and was getting paid a shitload of money for said job so despite his dislike toward his employer he decided to just keep his mouth shut. When they arrived at the estate in Japan, Kenshin instructed him to stay with Akari, while he and the others scouted the area. Yusuke settled himself in a chair, with his feet up on the table. Akari plopped onto the couch, setting back with her eyes closed for a moment. Then she rose and picked up the folder again, flipping through it. Yusuke had watched her look through that folder throughout the entire plane ride. He had been able to tell that some of what she was reading had confused her, as if she were reading it for the first time. He had also seen Lantis perusing a simialr folder.

"You don't have to worry about that ya know," he said, offhandly.

She looked up at him with a questioning look, "What do you mean?"

Yusuke couldn't stop the roll of his eyes this time, couldn't the priss understand even a simple comment? "Lantis'll take care of all the negotiation, all your there for is window dressing. You just have to smile and look pretty. though you don't do a good job of that either."

With a satisfied smirk, he watched her mouth work silently, her face turning red. Then her eyes narrowed and she stood, hands on her hips, "Just what the hell is your problem?"

"Working for a sugar tit like you."

"A what?"

"What else would you be, I mean you obivously can't find yourself a man so you use your money to surround yourself with them. You're a sugar tit."

"Yusuke, you're such a JERK!" As she yelled the last word, he heard the door open and Hiei's voice but paid no attention to what the midget said. He just leaned back in his chair, with his feet on the table, arms folded behind his head.

"Like I haven't heard that before," he muttered. The room became deathly silent. Yusuke opened one eye to see his fellow body guards hovering over him. Kenshin's open smiling face had become hard and deadly, his eyes no longer the inviting violet but unforgiving gold. Lantis's had become even colder, his eyes narrowed and Hiei's crimson eyes positively burned with anger. One of the three must have kicked the leg of his chair because the next thing he knew he was on the floor. "What the hell was that for?" he cried, leaping to his feet.

The angry men advanced on him. "What did you say to her, you god damned fool?" Hiei snarled.

"Well shorty, I just told her that she didn't have to go through that folder so hard cause I saw Lantis going through the same information and that he would take care of all the junk at the meeting. What's the big frickin deal? I was trying to save her some work."

"This folder?" Lantis asked, holding it up.

Yusuke nodded then cursed as the folder hit him in the chest. As the papers flew out of it, landing on the ground before him he realized that they weren't notes about the business meeting. They were his records from high school, all the notes about his various detentions and expulsions. Yusuke got the message. "Alrightalright, I'll go apologize."

He hurried out the door and looked up and down the hall. The front door slammed and Yusuke sprinted in that direction. He made it to the porch in time to see a flash of brown disappear around the side of the house and realized she was heading for the gardens. Yusuke broke into a jog, grumbling as he made his way in the same direction. As he turned the corner, something crashed against the back of his head, causing lights to explode before his eyes. He staggered forward, hand to the back of his head, "Alright, who the hell hit me?" he mumbled.
