Chapter 13: Nightly Desire
The castle had been fairly easy to break in, at least for Hiei's and Kurama's view of what a Makai castled should be like. The guards were scarce, and when the Rei Kai Tante attacked, it didn't require a lot of force to either knock the guards out, or to cause them to scatter. Alarms were pulled, plans and strategies were used to try and apprehend the four suspects. Hiei went ahead of the gang to find Sayuri, sensing that she was already a captive of Samael's. He followed her scent to a long hall way with only one door at the end. It was judgment time.

Sayuri could hear alarms ringing all through the castle. She rushed to find Samael, running towards the corridor to check if he was alright. The door swung open and hit her in the face, forcing her backwards. A figure stepped towards her and pulled her into their arms.
“Sayoko!” Samael cried out. He grabbed his fiancé and looked at her head, blood rushing from a cut above her left eye brow. Her eyes were watery, but she wasn't crying. Samael kissed her forehead and hugged her tightly. No Rei Kai Tante was going to take away what he worked for.
“Samael! What's going on?!” Sayuri asked her fiancé. She gripped him tightly as he looked at her. His face looked distracted, trying to figure a way out of the castle. He turned behind him and swung his hand in front of the door to close it. Carefully, he telekinetically blocked the door with large bookcases in the sitting area.
“People have come to try and take you away darling. Sayoko, you can't leave me!” Samael pleaded to his fiancé, eyes tearing up, showing as much emotion as he thought she could handle.
“I won't go! Promise!” Sayuri kissed her fiancé, tears running down her cheeks. Her body felt like rubber, bending against her will. She fought herself, trying to run away, trying to find out if it was…someone. Her memory battled herself. Samael pulled the girl behind him, her dark hair the only sign that she was behind him. Screaming and footsteps indicated that the Tante was almost there. It was judgment time.

Yusuke stood at the end of a corridor, charging up for a super-sized spirit shotgun. He was going to bust the door down whether the person on the other side was ready or not. Hiei could tell that Sayuri was on the other side and that Samael was with her. Yusuke readied himself as everyone backed up and prepared to rush in.
“SHOT GUN!”

The room exploded with wood and papers from the books. Samael pushed Sayuri up against the wall and she saw a cloud of dust take over the room. Her heart raced and her head ached. A figure slowly walked through the dust to where Sayuri sat, her hands smothered in her own blood. Sayuri looked at the figure, it's eyes a menacing blood red.
“Hnn. Should have known you'd get hurt.” Hiei moved towards the girl, her forehead bleeding. Probably from being too close to the Spirit Detective's blasts. He would be sure to kill him later.
“Who…Who are you?” Sayuri stammered. Hiei's eyes widened in shock. He looked over her body, making sure it was still her, not some other castle or some other girl. It was Sayuri, it was her smell, her eyes, her hair, her face. Everything about her, was her.
“Don't play stupid. Time to go, onna.” Hiei grabbed the girl's hand and pulled her up. Sayuri yanked her hand away, fear spreading into her eyes.
“Samael! Help!!” Sayuri screamed at the top of her lungs. Her body wanted to run to the boy. But words never came out of her mouth, not the words she wanted. She wanted help, but help to get away from herself. A figure appeared behind her, and Hiei drew his sword.
{What am I doing?! Who is that boy? He has a name! Something…H… something with an H!}
{Hiei, onna.}
“HIEI!” Sayuri screamed. The figure behind her grabbed her tighter, pulling her back. She knew where she was, she knew who she was! It came flooding back to her, the dust settling, the fighting going on, the pain she felt.
“NO!” The velvety voice behind her yelled angrily. Sayuri looked up in time to see a rock fall from the castle ceiling and onto her unsuspecting head. She watched all the faces of the Tante, watched Hiei's eyes scream fear; while she fell into Samael's arms. Her eyes flickered and then died out; a magenta fading to absolute black.
“SAYURI!” A voice called, but she was too far. Too far to come back now.

Hiei dropped to his knees as Sayuri folded unnaturally into Samael's arms. The grown man sobbed uncontrollably as the girl's eyes faded into death. Kurama and Yusuke grabbed Hiei's shoulder and shook him. The world was growing small, and Hiei could feel his heart drop, pull up, then drop again. The judgment went wrong. All wrong! Not her!
“NO!” Hiei screamed. The castle walls shook from the Shot Gun blast. Rocks fell from the walls and the ceilings, tearing the Tante apart from one another. Kurama grabbed the catatonic Jaganshi and headed back out the long corridor. Only God could judge the dead.
