Chapter 10: Lies Revealed

 

 

Last TIME!-

 

“You have over stepped your boundaries. DIE!” Ren's voice screamed and Hitomi rushed into the room to stop Ren from hurting the Elders. There was a bright light and then an explosion. Glass shattered and the dome started to fall. Walls caved in and crushed everything like little bugs. Hitomi tried to run for it as the walls came in, but she couldn't make it… she threw her body over Satu's and watched as a wall of solid rock poured over her body.

 

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Continued Flashback ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

 

The rocks crushed each other around Hitomi. The girl looked up and saw a beautiful white light protecting her. It was warm and it was coming from Satu, who in her sleep had protected them both from death. Hitomi felt the light and warmth fade and looked around for Ren-sama.

 

“REN-SAMA!” Hitomi ran over the debris that had fallen and raced through the smoke that was littering the ground. The light above her was bright, too bright to look at. Her heart raced, it pounded, it yelled, it screamed. She was afraid she was going to die. “REN-SAMA!” She choked, her voice breaking on the dust and fear. The light above her was becoming un-bearable. Slowly it faded, revealing a broken figured in tattered white clothes and flowing light blue hair.

 

{Oh no! Ren-sama!}

 

Hitomi kept shouting to the figure that held the Elder in her hands. They reached around the Elder's neck and pulled closer, trying to feel against each other. Slowly the Elder was choking, dying, and the life force was being sucked right out of the Elder.

 

“REN-SAMA! STOP THIS! STOP IT! PLEASE!!” Hitomi cried and shouted. She had no way of making it stop, she was just a lowly servant who was intended to marry a human. She wasn't a Guardian, and they were dead too. Everyone was dead in the castle. All the innocent people!

 

{Ren-sama, please, tell me you didn't…}

 

Hitomi closed her eyes and when she opened them back up slowly there was darkness except for a streak of light falling down towards the broken floor in the door. It was soft and filled with an ending blaze. It was Ren-sama.

 

“REN-SAMA!!!” Hitomi screamed and ran towards where the Celestial Angel was crashing down into the floor. When she hit, it was a sickening `thud' and `crack'. The light still glowed on her and she was shaking from all the power in her system. “REN-SAMA! Please ANSWER ME!” Hitomi shook the Celestial Angel, hearing `pop' and `snap' all over her body. It freaked her out, it made her stomach churn. “What the hell is going on?!!?”

 

“H-Hitomi?” Ren spoke, her voice more sincere than her actions. Hitomi threw herself at the Angel and held her tightly. The blood on Ren seeped onto Hitomi's hands and she looked at her hands with fear.

 

“Ren-sama, you…you…” Hitomi's voice cracked. It was that fear rearing its ugly head again. This time it swallowed Hitomi and pulled her deep under the surface. The only thing to bring her back was the warmth and love of Ren-sama's hand on hers.

 

“Hitomi, I don't have long…” Ren-sama muttered. Hitomi's eyes were leaking tears, but she nodded and held the woman's hand. Ren hiccupped and blood spilled over her mouth and onto the crumbling floor. “I-I need you…to und-understand…Hitomi-chan…” Ren smiled at the girl, the warmth still in her eyes. The Angel's body convulsed, the power getting too strong for even her to contain. Hitomi sobbed, holding on to Ren-sama's hand tighter and tighter, trying to make her stay.

 

“Ren-sama, please don't … don't leave me!” Hitomi spoke in between fits of sobbing. Ren coughed more and winced in pain, her chest cavity filling with blood slowly.

 

“Hitomi…onee-chan… I'll never leave you…never…” Ren smiled. Hitomi tried to smile back, tried to reassure herself that it would be okay. But it was failing. “L-Listen, Hitomi… I have…have to talk to you.” Ren coughed up more blood and her body shook from the power still building up. It wasn't going to be long before she would die.

 

“I'll listen. Promise!” Hitomi tried to stifle her cries, at least so that she could give Ren-sama the chance to tell her what was going on.

 

“They hired them to kill me.” Ren said, her body running out of energy. Hitomi looked confused.

 

“The Elders?” Hitomi asked. Ren tried to nod.

 

“Elders hired…hired the Guardians… but it became…a battle.” Ren squeezed Hitomi's hand and the young girl felt like the Angel was going to break her fingers. “Listen…one-chan… I'm going to die… I want…want you to know…” Ren coughed. Her life was fading too fast. She needed to transfer it all now. “Satu will grow up… and… she'll need to be stronger… than me. Much. Stronger.” Hitomi nodded, she was still holding the sleeping child close. “New Elders…are going to be selected… make sure they aren't anti-human. Protect these people Hitomi. Protect… our people…my people…” Ren's eyes were filled with tears that poured over her temples and fell to the ground.

 

“Did you? Did you do all of this Ren-sama?! Tell me so I can defend you!!” Hitomi begged the Angel. Ren wanted to sigh, but her body was breaking.

 

“D-don't defend me. P-please.” Ren's body was bruising from the power gathering. Her chest felt like it was being cracked open by a surgeon while she was still conscious. “You have a duty to fulfill to someone special Hitomi…” Ren's voice grew quiet; she placed her hand on Satu's. Slowly the white light poured into the child's little hand. Satu awoke and giggled, feeling warm and soft after bathing in the white light. All of Ren's motherly love was pouring into her. It was power and love and hope for a better future.

 

“Ren-sama, please…We can get help… you'll be okay…p-please…” Hitomi choked on her tears as Ren placed her hand on Hitomi's knee and she felt the white light pour into her. It filled her heart and Hitomi envisioned Ren-sama hugging her and holding her close. The heart beat was slowly decreasing.

 

“I…I love…you….Hitomi-onee-chan…” Ren breathed in. Hitomi sobbed when the warmth stopped; when Ren's hand slipped off her knee; when it hit the crumbled floors. She flung herself at the woman and beat against the ground with anger and sadness.

 

“WHY!?! WHY WHY WHY?!?!” Hitomi screamed into the air. Of all people! Of all deaths! Why?! Why this one?! Hitomi sobbed as she felt Ren's power course through out her body. “WHY HER?! WHY DID YOU TAKE HER?! TAKE ME! TAKE ME!!” Hitomi cried against the dead Angel's chest. The heart no longer beat, but the ribs continued to crack and break. Satu snuggled into Hitomi's arms and looked at the girl.

 

{I HATE YOU! I HATE YOU I HATE YOU I HATE YOU!!!!}

 

“Why….why did you leave me?” Hitomi gasped, trying to take in air. It was hard. Her chest was crushed by the weight of the night. She couldn't breathe, it took too long to get air, too long to find her feet, too long to stand. Slowly she stood, the only part of Ren-sama was in her arms. She closed her eyes and moved. Her feet moved and they kept moving. When Hitomi finally opened her eyes, she was outside the hospital in the town.

 

“Oh my god! Dr. Tanako! COME QUICKLY!” A voice screamed. Hitomi's eyes were seeing her from another place. They weren't her own anymore. Her body wasn't hers either. It slumped against the floor, little Satu still snug against her chest.

 

“Ren….onee…chan….”

Satu: *nods* of course. *huggles*
