Chapter 12: Stay Awhile

Hiei sat outside her window and watched her chest fall up and down as she lay asleep in her bed. The strength of the wind didn't concern him because all his eyes could see was her golden smile, her beautiful white hair, and the innocent way she looked at him before she said `I love you.' The events of the night were still heavy on his mind as he tried to make sense of the entire jumble that Hitomi had said.

{so she's part angel… and demon… and human?}

His mind was on overload, trying to think about how that got accomplished when he noticed a set of beautiful blue eyes staring at him through an unopened window. He smiled and jumped down from the sheltered tree to find her delicate hands trying to open it quickly to shield him from the storm.

{I think I broke it} She pouted.

{Onna…}

{Wait!} Satu pressed her hands against the glass and it melted quickly, allowing the cold air, and Hiei, to rush into the room. Slowly the glass built itself back up again and the wind stayed in its appropriate place.

“Shhhh…” Emi pointed towards were the heavy sleep Hitomi was laying. Hiei grabbed hold of Satu's hand and half way dragged her into another room at the way end of the hall, where no one would think to look for them.

“Onna…I didn't know what to do today… when I thought I was going to lose you.” Hiei pulled Satu close to him, feeling her warm energy soften him. She clenched onto his black cloak and looked at him in the eyes. They were red, the color of passion and love, of blood and anger. Satu wanted to keep holding him, loving him.

“I wouldn't ever say good bye. Not to you.” Satu giggled; the pure air around her scaring Hiei as he still attempted to let her love sink into him. It was unreal for him, holding the sweet angel in his tainted arms. He shook his head, trying to erase the thoughts from his mind. Satu looked at him curiously.

“I'm fine.” He said coldly, finding it hard to communicate the exact feeling he was having. Satu pulled back a bit and looked at him with a sad face. He sighed and pulled her closer, holding her more gently.

“Hitomi always read a book to me about this girl who falls in love with a beast…”

“Are you calling me a beast?” Hiei glared at the girl.

“No. I was just saying that you are rough. But you are loveable in so many ways. I know that.” Satu laughed softly so as not to wake anyone. Hiei felt that melting sensation again, knowing that the stomach punching would begin and he would feel all dizzy.

“I love you.” Hiei whispered in Satu's ear as he pressed his lips to her cheek. Satu pulled his face towards hers and let their lips touch. It was Heaven. Hiei fell into the rhythm of kissing and allowed himself those few moments to let the joy of holding someone seep into his brain. When they pulled way from each other, Hiei sat on the bed and Satu followed.

“Onna, is that illegal for you?” Hiei ventured, wondering what the proper etiquette was for angels.

“No. It's normal. I see people doing that all the time. I even see kindergarteners kissing each other.” Satu giggled. Hiei wanted to laugh, but was too afraid it might shock her.

“I mean for angels.” He asked. Satu pondered for a moment and then shook her head.

“I don't think so, but even if it was… I'd break that law for you.” She cuddled up against Hiei's shoulder, reassuring him that she wanted him, not Kurama. Hiei nodded, falling back onto the bed and allowing Satu to lay with him. It was odd for him to witness an angel do something that seemed so… unpure.

“Seems that even an angel can have a demon side.” Hiei said, knowing that she was a demon anyway.

“Speaking of which….” Satu teased, “how about you take me to the Makai one of these days? Hmmm? I've never had the chance to go there. And Hitomi tells me that my mother used to go there ALL the time! I've always wanted to see it!” Satu planned on and on. Hiei looked at her.

“No.”

“Why?”

“Onna, you would be kidnapped and sold… and ….” Hiei fought through all the horrid things in his mind that he had witnessed happen to other people who were sold into slavery in the Makai. No way was his angel being allowed in the realm of demons. Her demonic blood wasn't strong enough to even sense. She would be an easy target.

“Don't you trust my abilities?” Satu asked seriously, sitting up. Hiei sat up and looked at her. He shook his head and placed a hand along her cheek.

“Without demonic powers, you won't survive.” Hiei was frank and honest, as he always had been with her. Satu rolled over and refused to talk. The air between them was hostile and Hiei shrugged, rolling over and trying to feel her next to him. She was there, and she wasn't happy.

“How long?” She asked.

“1 year, if not longer.” He responded.

“Fine. Then will you take me?” Satu questioned, still not turning over and still not back to her usual cheerful self. Hiei grumbled.

“If you master them.”

“I will.”

“Yes.”

“Good night, Hiei.”

“Hnn.”
