Chapter 2
Love? Kidnapping!
Amy wakes up slowly, feeling warm arms wrapped around her waist. She opens her eyes slightly, to see a sleeping Hiei holding her loosely. `He looks so cute when he sleeps,' she thinks. She closes her eyes again. She waits for him to start to stir. About an hour later, she hears him grunt and feels him start to move. She opens her eyes and watches him wake up.
He slowly opens his eyes, his arms around someone. He sees violet eyes looking back at him. "Hey," said the owner of the eyes.
`Oh, it's Amy,' he thinks. He closes his eyes slightly, hoping to go back to sleep. Then he feels a butterfly kiss on his nose. His eyes snap back open. He sees her grinning at him.
"Oh, no you don't go back to sleep," she says. "I've been waiting for an hour for you to wake up. Plus, I got a crick in my neck from watching you." She smiles at him when he glares at her. "Sorry, but it's …," she says, starting to say it's true when he shut her up by kissing her. He sticks his tongue in her mouth. She moans slightly, then tries to push him away. When he finally lets her breath, five minutes later, she looks at him funny. "I've gotta breath sometime!" she says. "And what if someone's watching? Or listening?" she asks softly, glancing toward the open door. A head disappears when she looks at it, but she could have sworn that she caught a glimpse of red hair.
"Who would be?" he asks.
"I could of sworn I saw someone with red hair disappear when I looked at the door," she says, certain that there are spying eyes in the temple. She feels him trying to sit up. She sits up, allowing him to sit up. They both look toward the door. "Wasn't the door closed last night?" she asks, confused.
"Yes, it was," he says slowly, watching the door carefully.
Suddenly, the foxes walk by. Caroline looks in. "Oh, you two are up?" she calls out sweetly.
Amy narrows her eyes. Caroline NEVER talks sweetly, unless she's hiding something. In less than the blink of an eye, Amy has her sister against the wall, a short dagger to her throat. "What are you hiding?" she growls.
The guys look at her, blinking every few seconds. They were both thinking the same thing: `How did she move so fast?' The guys watch the conversation between the two sisters. Caroline looks at Kurama, her eyes begging for help. He smiles sadly, his eyes saying that he wished he could help but she got herself into this.
"Um, what do you mean, Amy?" Caroline asks, playing confused.
Amy's knife slips a bit closer to her sister's throat. "You know perfectly well, dear sister," she says.
Caroline's eyes widen. This is the second time in two days that her sister had used those words. `She's ticked,' she thinks.
"You're right about that," Amy says in a very low voice.
"Quit reading my mind!" Caroline hisses angrily. If there's one thing that Caroline hates, it's when people read her mind without her permission.
"Well, you should have thought about that before you do something you're not supposed to," Amy says innocently.
Caroline's eyes widen with fear very well written in them. Amy never talks innocently, unless she's more than mad at someone. And the last time she talked like that, she had killed the person less the two minutes later. She gulps. "AMY!" Arina yells from down the hall, seeing the mess that Caroline is in. "LET HER GO!"
Amy let her eyes tell Caroline that they weren't through talking, then she dropped her sister to the ground. Caroline stays there for a few seconds, very glad that Arina had showed up when she did. Caroline nods to Arina that she was okay. Arina runs up and grabs Amy's shoulder. "We need to talk, now," Arina says quietly. "And no listeners," she threw to the others. They all nod, shocked by what had happened between the sisters.
Kurama kneels down next to Caroline, checking that she was alright. Hiei can only wonder what had happened to Amy. She didn't seem the type to attack people like that. And Caroline was truly scared for her life until Arina had showed up.
---With Amy and Arina---
Arina is leading Amy to her room. When they get there, Amy walks in as Arina closes the door. She turns to Amy. "What happened, Amy? I want to hear your side of things," she says, talking to her baby sister softly.
Amy sits on the only chair in the room and looks out the window. "I saw someone watching me and Hiei when we woke up. I saw red hair disappear when I looked at the open door, which wasn't open last night. Then the foxes walked by. And Caroline talked very sweetly to me. I know she's hiding something, and I intend to find out," Amy says sullenly. She watches as a pair of bluebirds hop around on the ground.
"Caroline never talks sweetly unless she's hiding something," Arina says. "But that gives you no right to take a knife to her throat, Amy." Amy just nods. She watches as the birds fight over a worm. "Amy, will you at least talk to her, civilly? I know for a fact that you don't have to take a knife to her throat to get her to answer your question." The brunette flips some hair over her shoulder.
Amy watches her sister's reflection in the window. "I'm gonna go think. I promise I won't attack Caroline again," she says. She disappears out the open window, the curtains swaying in the breeze of her leaving. She watches silently from a tree nearby as Arina looks at the spot Amy had just sat in and shakes her head. Arina closes the window and leaves her room.
Amy goes and finds a path to take in the forest surrounding three sides of the temple. She takes the path, not caring where it went.
---Somewhere nearby---
:::I see her,::: a girl with blood red hair thinks to her brother, seeing Amy start towards the forest she is hiding in. :::I'll get her in no time.:::
:::Good, Blood Rose,::: her blood-brother says in her head. :::Capture her, and bring her here. We need at least two of the sisters to start the process, but we need all four to finish it. But a certain one can do the whole process all by herself.:::
:::I know, Blood Raven,::: the girl says. She watches as Amy wanders the path randomly, not seeming to care where it leads her. :::I'm going after her now. See you in a little while.:::
Blood Rose follows Amy silently as the girl walks through the forest.
---With the others---
Arina walks into the living room half an hour after her sister left. Kuwabara and Yusuke are already up and playing a video game. A fighting one, she notices. She stands behind the boys as Yusuke whoops Kuwabara again and again. "Good fighting," she says, startling the two boys. "I bet I can beat you, Yusuke."
"I'd like to see you try!" Yusuke says, accepting her challenge.
She smirks. "How about a racing game?" she asks. "Those are the hardest for me." Well, it's true. She has a lot more trouble with racing games than any other. "But once I get going, you can't beat me."
Kuwabara happily gives up his seat to see a girl beat Yusuke. Kelly wanders in a half hour later, and sees her sister and Yusuke playing their fifth game. "How many games has she whooped him in?" she whispers to Kuwabara, who has been watching the whole thing.
"This is their fifth game, and she's won all the others," Kuwabara says, astounded.
"I knew it," Kelly says, pushing her orange hair over her shoulder. "She never loses any video game."
Hiei, Kurama, and Caroline walk in an hour later. Arina and Yusuke are on their fifteenth game. "YEAH! TAKE THAT YUSUKE!" Arina yells, standing up and doing a victory dance. "FIFTEEN WINS STRAIGHT!"
The three look at Arina like she's crazy. "I challenge you to Super Smash Brothers 64!" Yusuke yells, jumping up and pointing at Arina.
"You really want to crash and burn, don't you?" Arina asks, smirking at the boy who challenged her to fifteen games and he had lost each time. Then they both seem to notice that they have an audience. "Oh, hi everyone!" Arina says, smiling happily.
"Yo," Yusuke mutters, looking away.
Arina notices someone's missing. "Where's Amy?" she asks.
"We thought she was with you," Caroline says.
"She left over two hours ago, saying she was gonna go for a walk," Arina says, her smile turning quickly to a frown. "I can't imagine she'd stay gone this long. I wonder what's taking her."
:::HELP!!::: they hear Amy's mind shout in each of their heads.
All of their heads snap up. The three girls have a look of complete fear in their eyes. :::AMY!::: Arina yells, allowing everyone to hear her. :::Where the hell are you?!:::
But Amy doesn't answer. Instead, a very evil laughter filled their heads. :::Amy can't talk right now,::: they hear someone say.
:::Blood Raven, what the hell did you do to my sister?!::: Arina yells at the voice, recognizing her ex-boyfriend's evil voice.
:::Oh, your sister? How sweet. She is needed for a sacrifice,::: a new voice says. This one is a very uncaring female.
"No," the girls whisper simultaneously. The guys are ticked. But Hiei's the maddest. :::What do you want?::: Arina asks, a tone of betrayal in her voice.
:::Come to the old warehouse on sixteenth, before midnight,::: Blood Raven says, a smirk very evident in his voice.
:::Or Amy is a goner,::: Blood Rose adds.
The three girls exchange a glance and nod. :::We'll be there,::: Caroline says sadly. The link between the Blood twins and the gang was cut.
The girls start walking toward the door, knowing that they would not make it to save their sister if they left any later. But the guys all stop the girls. "Where are you going?" Yusuke demands, looking Arina in the eye.
"Don't tell me you didn't hear what was said, Yusuke," she says, looking away. But he could see a hint of sadness in her eyes before she turns her eyes away. "Blood Raven and his blood-twin, Blood Rose, are serious. They intend to kill Amy. If we don't get there in time, she is dead."
"Why do they want to kill her?" Kurama asks, looking at Caroline. She doesn't meet his eyes. All the girls close their eyes at the same moment.
Then, Kelly decides enough is enough. "Because she is not the same," she mutters. Her sisters look at her, both of them looking scared. "It's time we stopped denying it," Kelly says to her sisters. They nod and sigh. "She has a power that none of us do. She can change time and grant wishes to those who manage to kill her. It doesn't matter how or who. But if she is sacrificed, the three worlds are all doomed."
The guys look startled. "How?" Kurama asks, looking at the one who would answer them.
"Something our mother was," Kelly answered, looking away from the four pairs of eyes that were watching her. Her orange falls over her eyes. "She was a fallen angel, destined to pass her powers on to her youngest daughter. And Amy was the last to be born before our mom's death."
The guys are all shocked. The girls were hiding this BIG a secret for how long? The girls all looked down, avoiding the eyes of the guys. Apparently, it had been for a very long time. "We'll get her back," Kurama promises the girls.
The girls look up. Caroline nods slightly, showing that she and her sisters would accept any and all help to save Amy. But Kelly's eyes showed little hope. "We have to go now if we want any hope of saving her," Kelly says softly, already grieving, knowing that there will be no way to save Amy if they don't get there before midnight. And apparently, so were Arina and Caroline, as they avert their eyes very fast. The group heads out the door, hoping that against all odds, the youngest of the sisters would manage to hang on until they could save her.
---A few hours later with Amy---
She blinks her eyes slightly. `Damn, Blood Raven packs a good punch,' she thinks, rubbing her neck tenderly. She glances around the room she's chained up in. Then she notices that her clothing has been changed.
`A Sacrificial Gown? Oh, no!' she thinks, suddenly wishing that she was no longer the youngest of the sisters. But she only wished half-heartedly. She wouldn't be able to bare it if one of her sisters were in her place.
She looks around the room she's in again. She sees a door across the room from her, but she has a suspicion that it's locked, as she can see the keyhole is blocked. She looks around the room again. It was very dark and hard to see. Good thing she is part fire demon as well as part koorime and part human. She tries to melt the chains around her wrists, but to no avail. She tries another method. She freezes the chains, and then burns them. But it still doesn't work.
She hears evil laughter coming from a dark corner of the room. "You think we'd just let you go?" she hears Blood Rose say. The female of the Blood twins walks out of the shadows. "I think you've got a screw lose somewhere."
"What do you want with me?" Amy asks, looking down, all hope already lost. She already knew what the Blood twins wanted. And if her friends and sisters didn't get here soon, they would get it.
"Don't you already know?" the Blood twin asked, walking till she was directly in front of Amy. Amy nods slightly. "Then why ask?"
"To, hopefully, take up time," Amy replies, head bowed, knowing that Blood Rose would tear it from her mind if she didn't answer.
"How sweet," Blood Rose practically croons. "But it never will work."
Amy looks at the Blood twin, right into the familiar violet eyes. "Rose, why did it have to happen this way?" she asks. She didn't let any of the guys know, but Amy had a slightly older twin. A twin who she loved more than life itself. Until Rose's best friend, Raven, went dark and took Rose with him. "You had to go with him, didn't you?" Amy whispers softly, remembering all the fun times she had shared with her twins. And how Rose had been there, trying to cheer her up after their parents' death, and when Amy had gotten sick, when their mom's power came too strong into her.
But Blood Rose is different. And she slaps her sister. "Don't you EVER call me that again!" Blood Rose yells at her. Amy just hangs her head, knowing her sister is lost to her forever. Rose would never even think to hit Amy. But she has changed. But so has Amy. Amy smiles softly. Blood Rose sees it. "What are you smiling at?" she growls.
Amy looks up at her former twin, knowing that the Blood twin could see into her very soul at the moment. Blood Rose pales, seeing the suicidal thoughts behind the very open violet eyes of her captive. Violet eyes very much like her own. "You wouldn't dare!" she growls.
"Would I?" Amy asks softly, her eyes glinting at her own self-sacrificial thoughts. "Are you that sure anymore? Can any of us be that sure about anything?"
Blood Rose remembers the questions all too well, Amy knew that for certain. Blood Rose freezes, remembering the last occasion that Amy had asked her those questions. Amy had asked those questions of her before, when she had been up on a high floor of Tokyo Tower, not inside, but outside, on a small ledge that could very well have sent Amy to her death if she had so much as breathed the wrong way. Amy was very upset about her parents' death, and about her sudden retrieval of their mother's powers. Amy had very much given up on life. But Rose and Raven had managed to stop her from killing herself. But that was before Raven had found out just what Amy's powers really meant. And, sharing it with his best friend, they swore blood-brotherhood to the very end.
Blood Raven's voice can be heard from somewhere in the building. "Blood Rose, they are here, prepare the Sacrifice," he says.
Then Amy hears Hiei's mind calling out to her. :::Amy!::: he calls.
:::I am here, Hiei,::: she replies, almost too calm for the circumstances.
:::What's going on, Amy?!::: he calls out, knowing she is far too calm for what's going on. :::What are you planning?!::
:::Hey, Hiei. Guess what? I have a twin sister. And I'm gonna die,::: Amy says, almost giddy with the thought of cheating her sister and Blood Raven out of a wish. :::Well, see ya.:::
:::AMY! DON'T DO IT!::: he yells, trying to bring Amy to her senses. He had figured out what she had planned.
