Yu Yu Hakusho Fan Fiction ❯ Angered Fox Within Me Part One: Blissful Ignorance ❯ Familiars and the Unfamiliar ( Chapter 1 )
A/N- Hello! Sorry for the wait but I have been somewhat busy. Anyway thanks for reviewing animelove and shadow_shadowangel. Those reviews made me happy and actually find where I put my plans for this story so I could continue it!
Disclaimer- If you wanna know, see the Prologue disclaimer! (If you're lazy, like me, I don't own anything but Alana and part of the plot I think...)
Warning- Nothing except insults to Kuwabara's intelligence. Wait, are they really insults when they're true?
Summary for Story- Kurama makes a decision that affects everyone's memories. He doesn't know Hiei (who goes to ningen school) and meets a transfer from Ireland. (I don't know why I like them meeting foreign girls but I do) They become friends and soon more but time after time they are pulled apart. Cliffhanger at end to be answered in part two.
Summary for chapter- Kurama goes to school and sees some people he once knew (Kuwabara and Yusuke go to his school and Hiei is there for reasons I care not to reveal at the moment)
However he was shocked when he found that the usual empty seat in front of him was now occupied.
Oh yeah, there's a new person who ends up sitting in front of Kurama.
Chapter One
Familiars and the Unfamiliar
Kurama raced out the door, cursing under his breath. He had overslept and for the first time he would be late for school. Luckily for him, he was such a good student that his teacher didn't care about his tardiness and only gave Kurama a slight headshake of disapproval. Kurama walked to his seat; ecstatic he had avoided detention. However he was shocked when he found that the usual empty seat in front of him was now occupied.
Sitting in the seat was a girl with long red hair, the shade rivaling his own, soft pale skin, and eyes that were such a deep brown they looked almost red. Tentatively, he took his seat behind her. Kurama got another slight shock when she first spoke. It was soft, but firm. She also possessed a slight Irish mixed with a tinge of British accent. She was undeniably intelligent and to be frank, she impressed him. Later in the period he learned that her name, was Alana.
At lunch Kurama saw three people he felt he should know. One was another new transfer. He had deep blue, almost black hair, with a white starburst. He was very strong and no one in his or her right mind would fight him. His eyes were a red that burned into your mind and saw through your very soul. The two school bullies, Kuwabara, and Yusuke quickly acquainted him. Though he seemed reluctant, he went along with their antics. He soon learned that this new boy was called Hiei, and despite his height, or lack thereof it, he scared many males at the school and made most females swoon. Not much unlike Kurama did, minus the scaring of the males. They merely saw Kurama as a challenge.
Later that day the one called Kuwabara stopped him between classes and tried to pick a fight, like he did with any guy at the school. His band of thugs waited behind him, Hiei watching with an unimpressed face. Yusuke would have gladly joined the taunting, but he was busy in the principal's office for one reason or another. Too scared that Youko would break loose he declined the offer for a fight and outwitted the poor ningen fool instead. This tactic worked, for when he walked into his next class, the idiot was still contemplating whether or not Kurama had insulted his intelligence or his face. However, Kurama had this feeling of familiarity about the fool, but he couldn't quite place it.
Three days passed and Kurama once again sat at his desk for his first period class. The teacher had left for a moment and a familiar voice spoke in front of him. "Hey Alana," came the voice that belonged to Kuwabara. Kurama looked up to watch the spectacle. Alana looked very distressed. Her usual clean-cut appearance was no longer. She looked rumpled and as if she hadn't slept well over the past few days. Alana's eyes met Kuwabara's as she acknowledged his presence. He continued. "I was wondering if you would...uh...be my girlfriend?"
Alana bit her lip and looked Kuwabara up and down, assessing him. Kurama could have sworn she crinkled her nose a bit and recoiled when he leaned forward. "All right," she said a bit reluctantly, but Kuwabara overlooked it. Kurama heard the lifted worry in her voice. She smiled and Kurama saw that a heavy weight had been lifted from her shoulders.
The next few weeks were barely tolerable. Kurama got into two fights with Kuwabara and his gang. He was so busy that he lost track of everything about Rema. Despite the distraction, Kurama was getting extremely agitated by the Hiei boy. Hiei never participated in any of the fights between Kurama and Kuwabara, he just watched, with an amused look on his face. It seemed the only reason Kuwabara fought was for his approval, or at least his acceptance. This sickened Kurama.
One day, sitting at his desk, Kurama overheard two girls gossiping. Supposedly, Alana had dumped Kuwabara. Kurama smiled, why she had even gone out with Kuwabara was beyond him. He went to lunch where he had yet another verbal confrontation with Kuwabara, and to no one's surprise, he won.
On his way home Kurama noticed that the idiots were following him. No doubt, wanting another fight they would surely lose. Today Kurama would make them regret messing with Minamino Shuiichi. Just as he was planning the perfect strategy, his books were knocked from his hands.
