[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]
AA1: I have an announcement to make.
Okay, I have started a new fic!!! YAY!!!! It’s about a band, called the Reikai Tantei. They aren’t the team, just a band. Hiei is the lead singer, Kurama is a back up singer and bass player, Yusuke is the main bass, and Kuwabara is the drummer. When in Japan, Hiei goes for a walk and finds a girl running from a demon. He kills it for his own pleasure and takes the girl to the tour bus where she meets the gang. When in Kyoto, Koenma visits them to tell them of a prophecy in which they are all woven and they learn that they have to protect the girl and get her safely to a temple on the summit of Mount Hiei (yes, it is a real mountain) where she is to be married to a spirit prince to bring peace to the three worlds. But along the way, Hiei finds that it will be harder to let go of her then he thought.
So? Do you like? Well, anyway. It won’t be posted under the name Anime_Addicted1. I have a new name, it’s Crimson Suns. It was to please my alter ego, Irashku. And she wanted a story posted as hers, so I’m giving it to her. The story is called “Sonnet of Sorrow”. And I am using The Lost Prophets songs as the band’s, so. . . yeah. PLEASE REVIEW!!!!!!!!!

Kairuco and Hiei slid easily through the forest surrounding the black fox territory. Grim determination etched itself into Hiei’s features as they passed the thick trees. His hand clasped hers almost desperately, being returned with an almost equally frantic grip. Kairuco knew that he would find her gone and go into an outrage. She knew that Kagemusha be able to sense where she was, because of the marks on her neck.
Kairuco was frightened of his wrath no longer, however. She was the more powerful of them and she would prevail in a battle to the death. But a nagging in the back of her mind proved relentless. It was as if his existence was a threat to not only her, but to Hiei as well. A shiver spread through her body at the thought of losing Hiei again. But a glance at him assured Kairuco of his presence. And she made a silent vow that if she had to bear to lose him again, she would kill every one that got in her way of getting back to him.
Hiei seemed to sense her resolution and tightened his grip on her hand as if rescuing that promise. Kairuco allowed herself to close her eyes and smile for the first time in a long time, letting Hiei take control. She knew where they were going, and intended to stay there. The farther she went from the territory that had held her for so long, the more Kairuco became more like herself. She soon found herself letting go of Hiei’s hand and running off ahead just to defy him. Hiei grinned wickedly, following her. From the constant training he had put himself through, he had become much faster than Kairuco, who had laid dormant within herself for three hundred years.
“Hn… you need training, onna. You’ve gotten slow.” Hiei commented as he pulled up beside the speeding yasha (female demon). She scowled at him but said nothing, merely speeding up to gain a yard ahead of him.
When the couple stopped, it beside a large crystalline lake. It’s waters churned restlessly as if stirred by the eternal strife in the makai. Kairuco stared at it in amazement, seeing in the depths of the lake a series of scenarios playing out before her eyes. She felt Hiei’s presence beside her but did not look up at him, still held captive by the swirling abyss. A soft voice beside her ear brought her out of the trance she had been set in.
“ What do you see?” a feminine voice sounded. Kairuco looked up into pale green eyes that radiated a watery light. They were surrounded by beautiful ivory skin and dark hair, raven like in it’s color. The eyes were gentle and curious, but held wisdom that was less than noticeable. The pale beauty’s body was long and slender, adorned by many pearls and necklaces. Her bodice was a watery purple, barely concealing her well endowed breasts. Her long and flowing skirt hung low about her round hips, held by a string of pearls and jewels. It too was a watery purple. Her ankles, as well as her slender wrists were graced with silver bangles that jingled when she moved.
Kairuco stared at her in wonder, amazed by the woman’s beauty. She thought it a sin not to answer the woman’s question. She looked at the lake once more, repeating what she saw. “I. . . I see the wars in the makai and I see all of the kingdoms, and the pain and suffering. I see the joy and the life and the trees. I see. . . everything.” Her heart stopped at the realization of what she had said.
“Yes.” said the beautiful woman. She caressed Kairuco’s jaw gently and smiled just as innocently. “I see this and more every day of my life. And I know every living being that has ever walked upon the ground or flown in the sky or swam in the oceans.” She held Kairuco’s chin in both small hands and kissed her forehead. “And I know you more than anything, Kairuco.” this startled Kairuco horrendously, but she found it impossible to do anything but stared into the shining eyes.
Then the exquisite woman turned to Hiei, who was looking at her with nothing written on his face. “And I know you too, Hiei.” She approached him, her movements like fluid and the bangles ringing softly. She kissed him upon the forehead as well and then stepped back to look at the couple. Hiei grasped Kairuco’s hand in his and she returned it with a comforting squeeze.
“I am Kogane, the guardian of the Lake of Being.” she bowed gracefully, approaching the lake slowly, as if not to startle it. She smiled gently, calmingly at the pair who had inched closer to each other without a conscious realization of their actions. Gesturing towards the lake with a slender hand, she stared at it with a calm that told of her comfort with her charge. Almost immediately, the water began to stir and bubble, small scream like sounds and childish giggles mingling together to create a horrendous sound that tortured one’s ears with the constant turmoil of it’s sound.
Hiei immediately fell to the ground, grasping his ears in pain, willing the sound to go away. He was soon followed by Kairuco, who convulsed slightly when she hit the ground beside him.
Kogane watched them sadly, her eyes reflecting the knowledge of what had to be, and what couldn’t. When finally Hiei’s screams stopped and Kairuco’s movement was no more, she ended the water’s torturing sound and calmed it to the placidness that it could never be. “I’m sorry.” she whispered before turning to walk from the lake that was her charge, her love, her gift, her curse.
And on the shore of the Lake of Being, two lost and found lovers died hand in hand. Two souls who had been tortured with the absence of the other, lay side by side, never to be separated again by false fate. And on Kairuco’s neck, the black marks that her rapist had given her disappeared to be replaced by two small marks so red that it could only be called bitter crimson.
