&n bsp; Bitter Crimson: Chapter 5
; "Allow me to introduce my new bride and your new princess. The charming and most beautiful Princess Kairuco." The devastatingly handsome man, Prince Kagemusha, called from the balcony on which he stood, proud and tall. His steely blue eyes swept over the crowd, short cropped, light brown hair revealing black fox ears that twitched and turned gracefully. He wore a pure white gi and black hakama, an ebony sash gracing it's simple design. The large, bustling crowd clapped and cheered to meet the new princess.
Every one of them caught their breath as she elegantly glided onto the balcony to join her new husband. Wearing a pure black Kimono with slits up the side and, by her own choosing and despite her husband's protest, a crimson obi intricately designed with Black dragons, she walked out. And hanging delicately from her neck, unnoticeable if not looked for, was a small crystal, swirling eternally with black and violet. But what they saw was not what truly was. They saw a blushing bride with shining eyes, healthy long silver hair, and a gentle smile.
What they did not see was the broken, abused body, tired from rape. They did not see the rub raw cheeks from crying in the mornings, turned red from constant wiping. They failed to notice the unhealthy glaze of the eyes, tired and mournful. They did not catch the smell of goose grease used to glaze her unruly and pallid hair that was no longer silver, but white. And the smile they thought was out of happiness was really just the affect of her own, inner world, where Hiei waited for her. They saw a princess, for that was what was expected from them.

&nb sp; Kurama gazed sadly at his friend. The fire youkai had gone from cold, to enlightened, and then so cold that all reason had left him. Where once there had been a calm and collected demon who knew what he wanted, and usually got what he wanted, there was now a distant and almost crazed man who only thought of one thing.
Her.
The woman who had pulled him so far out into the world, the woman who had given him that enlightenment, the woman who had trusted and cared for him so much that she had left him to marry a man she did not know. And it had plunged Hiei into such a world of pain and determination that Kurama feared that only she could bring him out. Only she, who he had cherished so. Only she, who he had loved with such fierceness that even the threat of imprisonment had not sent him away. Only she, who had, in turn, treasured him in every way possible and then some. But no one but Sesshomaru knew where the kingdom was, and he would not tell anyone.
Hiei's training became more intense every day as he thought of her. His sword was hot from friction with his feelings, his right arm burning with the anger that his dragon felt. And so, during the night of the first full moon of the year, he snuck from the premises of Genkai's territory and began his long and arduous search for his lost beloved.
And nothing, nothing, was going to keep him from her.
-Three hundred Years later-
"Three hundred fucking years!!! And not ONE child!!!!" He ranted on. She gazed at him with cold, emotionless eyes. Her alabaster skin stretched tight against her beautiful bone structure. Her lips where thin and pale, her eyes dull and blank. Her once full and beautiful figure had dissipated into a thin and brittle body. The strong and willful woman that Kagemusha had married and raped three hundred years ago was now just a body with no soul, a shell with no purpose but to be the play thing of the King of Black foxes.
She had died a long time ago, hiding away within herself to block away from the pain that wracked her body every waking moment of her life. She still waited though, She had absorbed the crystal, hiding herself inside it until he came, until Hiei came to rescue her. It was a devious and almost vindictive plot. But her innocence had been stolen long ago, in every way possible. She talked and ate, she lived, but not truly. Her words were few, and what she said was always cold, without feeling. What she ate was only to sustain herself.
SLAP!!! His hand met her face in a resounding slap. Then he turned and walked away with nothing to do but wait for the night. A single tear ran down her cheek, black, tainted, and deformed. It fell to the floor to stain the perfect mahogany. With a lack of nothing better to do, Kairuco slipped into a crimson kimono and black obi, tied her hair into a low pony tail, and walked out to her personal garden, under the great balcony that led to the room that she was forced to share with her husband. Under a Sakoya tree she had planted herself, she sat to contemplate her life.
Her face was void of any emotion, her mouth set in a grim line. Her pallid skin shone unhealthily in the bright sun. She closed her eyes and breathed in deeply, but they snapped open when she felt a familiar ki that she had not in three hundred years. "Hiei." She breathed. "Hiei!!" She desperately cried, leaping from her seat and sprinting towards the throb of energy she felt.
She rushed into the woods by her garden, and every step she took, her old self came through. Her silver hair came back lush and full, now down to her thighs. Her violet eyes glittered with joy once again, and lost their dull and indifferent appearance. Her skin was once again tan and healthy and her body became strong and opulent once again. Her speed came back, she felt the rush of her own wind. And finally, just as a small clearing came into sight, the black an violet jewel pulled itself from her body, once again hanging from her neck.
She entered the clearing smiling broadly, almost crying with joy. She glanced around. "Hiei?" A frown began to replace her smile. But the smell of fresh rain water and sakura trees behind brought back her smile. A shadow appeared in front of her, only showing the outline. But she knew it was Hiei. "Hiei." She grinned happily. But the didn't answer. "Answer me, Hiei."
"What did he do to you?" He finally said, stepping from the trees. " You aren't the same." Anger shown clearly on his face, but she knew the anger was not for her. "You have darkness around you, not the light that surrounded you before. And your innocence is gone." Kairuco looked down in shame. Strong arms wrapped about her. "What did he do?"
She buried her head into his chest and began sobbing. "He. . . He r. . . rape. . . raped me." She clutched to Hiei's shirt distraughtly as he held her close.
"Let's go." He whispered. Kairuco nodded and held on to him as they broke through the barrier of the Black Fox Kingdom.
