Kairuco and Hiei ran into the depths of the forest, holding each others hands tightly. They ran until their breathing was labored and their legs stiff and unable to move, and then and only then did they slow to a fast walk. They had to get away from it. Get away from her obligation, from her Uncle in law, get away from the rest who would come searching for them. And so they did the only thing they could think of, they entered the Makai.

Where they entered, it was green and lush, with tree's all around and no demon in sight. "This is my Forest." Hiei said nonchalantly. "The only decent place in the makai that isn't infested with humans or those disgusting bastards that call themselves demons." He smirked, looking around at his home. Kairuco was held captive by the lushness of the forest. Growls and chirps and softly padding animals sounds filled the entire vicinity.

"And how do you manage such a high rein over such a large amount of land, Oh Mighty one?" He grinned and patted his right arm.

"My pet dragon and I are very good negotiators." Kairuco smirked and hugged him tightly. He hugged her back and said. "So, ready to see my house?" A mischievous grin grew wide on Kairuco's face. She nodded. He smirked and picked her up bridal style, jumping high into a large tree. He leapt from tree to tree until he finally stopped, setting her down on a branch of the largest tree she had ever seen. The branch they stood on was large enough to hold five elephants across. The trunk was broad and smooth, only holding a small kink here and there. It was five times the size of the branch.

"Welcome home." He whispered in her ear, coming up from behind her. She giggled and turned to him. Her question was apparent. " In here. Be careful." He seized her hand in his own and pulled her toward the smooth trunk, not even slowing down. He raised his hand and said, "Kaitsuu." Suddenly, part of the trunk disappeared, opening to a dark hall way. Hiei stopped once they were engulfed fully in the darkness.

All that was heard was their breathing and all that was seen was darkness as the hologram came back into place. Hiei took Kairuco by the hand once again, pulling her down a series of steps until they reached a dimly lit room. It was elegant with black draping and midnight blue furniture. A love seat and couch sat against surprisingly straight, flat walls, with an ebony coffee table in the center. The floor was milky blue, contrasting nicely with the dark cobalt walls. Kairuco looked up at Hiei and beamed. "And I thought you would be someone to sleep in the woods. Well, you kind of are, but still!!" She exclaimed, running with vitality to the love seat. "And it smells good to. It smells like you." Yes, the entire room was filled with the aroma of fresh rain water, mixed pleasantly with the faintest scent of sakura trees.

"You have yet to see the rest." Hiei approached as a panther would an elk, predatorily, stalking, ready to pounce at any moment. He swept her into his arms and ran up a spiral staircase, leading to a dining room with gothic decorations, occult patterns carved into the maroon walls. Double doors led to an ordinary kitchen, but in darker colors. They entered a hall with only four rooms. Sitting across from each other, was Hiei's room, dark and brooding, with a king sized bed covered in dark, dark, dark, dark, darkdarkdarkdarkdarkdarkdark blue and lots of other dark things that I don't feel like explaining. A door led to his bathroom. On the other side, was Kairuco's room, same thing but in dark purple.

Then there was the meditating room((use your imagination)), and last, At the very end of the hall, was a pearly white door with ebony characters written all over it. "This is the training room. The largest room in my home. It takes up over 1/3 of this tree." Hiei informed her before entering through the white door. He wasn't kidding. The room was humungous, with beams and platforms climbing up through the tree. Targets were plastered onto the walls, worn and ripped by many years of perfect hits. The floor was a dirt arena with many weapons circling along the walls. They were all weapons that Hiei had made, all perfect in design, all powerful enough to take out an entire army with one swipe when handled properly.

Kairuco began getting excited. She wanted to hug and kiss and smother Hiei with love, but restrained herself. Instead, she turned to him mischievously. " Tonight, midnight, here, Spar."

"Your on." Was his reply. "but before we do anything, you have to get new clothes, if you go around like that, here, you may get into a little more trouble than you want." He gestured to her soft, hip hugging jeans and light blue sweater. "Besides, they smell like human, and that could get you into trouble as well, and lets not forget that those are the only clothes you have right now." Kairuco nodded at his reason and asked if she could take a shower and borrow some of his clothes.

He agreed and while she showered in her new bathroom, he placed a pair of black training pants and blue tank top, along with bindings ((for hopefully obvious reasons))on her bed. He could not find a pair of shoes small enough for her nimble feet, so when she was out of the shower and dressed, he binded her feet as well. She decided that she didn't want shoes, that the bindings were to comfortable. He didn't mind, it was her decision. ((demon bindings are a lot softer and pliable than ningenkai bindings, and a lot more durable.)) So they went to a nearby village to get demonic clothing for Kairuco.

When, after finding many sets of clothing ((Do I REALLY need to explain what they look like?)), They headed back. ((No, no sweet snow)) Walking through the village of demons was. . .uncomfortable. Males would stop and stare openly at Kairuco, causing Hiei to growl and say things like 'she's mine', 'find your own' or, her personal favorite; 'touch her and die'. On the other hand, females would scowl and shoot glares at her. She honestly didn't know why the women acted as they did, she saw many demoness' that were much more beautiful than herself. But then she got her answer.

A beautiful wolf demoness approached the couple slyly. She had silver wolf ears popping elegantly from under Shining brown hair, flowing freely down her back to end at her mid-back. Mischievous green eyes framed with dark eyelashes glinted. She wore a slinky leather halter top, revealing creamy shoulders and black shorts so short that they could have fit a child. She stalked up to Kairuco rapaciously. "What the hell do you think your doing, messing with my Hiei." Kairuco heard Hiei growl audibly, but the wolf demon did not, or chose to ignore it.

"Your Hiei? Excuse me, but the last time I checked, this hunk of demon flesh was mine. I don't see you living with him!!" Kairuco spat at the woman, who growled deeply, but turned her attention to Hiei.

"Hello, Hiei-sama." She licked her lips and gazed into his rage filled eyes. Putting her hand on his shoulder lightly, she whispered. "Why don't you come home with me, Hiei-sama. Leave this slut behind." She glanced to the spot the Kairuco had been, but found that she was gone. "See, she ran away. I think that you'll have much more fun with me ."

"Think again." She heard behind her. She turned quickly to see Kairuco with her two daggers drawn. The aura around her whipped furiously around her body, but her hair remained still. Hiei gawked. Black fox ears, tipped in silver popped out of her Silver hair. Behind her, a midnight black tail swished dangerously, barely touching the ground with it's hoary tip. Her deep, lavender eyes were narrowed hazardously as she advanced on the frozen wolf maiden. "Well. . .did you think it over?" She inquired, deathly calm. "Because you really are not that strong, a D-class at the most, and I don't want useless blood to be the first that spills upon my new weapons." She smiled sweetly, deceitfully sweet.

The woman dropped her hand to her side, stepping away from Hiei. With one last look at the gleaming black blades, she took off. As soon as she was gone, Kairuco sent a warning glare to a every other women in the vicinity. They all cowered away. Hiei smirked as she replaced her daggers and picked up the clothes she had set down. "Ready?" She knew perfectly well what had happened, knew that she had just gone demon-form, but also knew that being overexcited about it could be fatal, so she remained calm and pretended as if nothing had happened. It was a most convincing act. And so was this:

When they were back in Hiei's forest, Kairuco dropped her things and pounced Hiei. "I DID IT!! I transformed!! And I didn't faint!!!" Hiei was shocked by her enthusiasm, but patted her back in congratulations. She pulled away and, smiling brightly, picked up her stuff. She walked ahead of him, almost skipping, smiling. But inside, she was distressed and worried. Worried about Sesshomaru, Kurama, Rin, Yusuke, Kuwabara, Genkai, and yes, even the overly hyper Botan.

But she refused to go back to the fate of betrothal. She absolutely denied that doom. She would stay with Hiei forever.

And she did stay with Hiei, slowly becoming less and less worried that they would find her, force her to marry that stranger. And after a year, they lived comfortably together, Kairuco never changing from her demonic form. In that year, the two had become the most well known thieves in the Makai, and the Reikai. Doranei((Hiei, just in case your dense)) and Sendoka ((Kairuco, if your really, really dense)) made their way across the Makai, death and destruction, and a lot of poor demons following in their path.

Kairuco soon became confident that they had given up, had moved on, but she was wrong, very wrong. They had never stopped looking for them, Sesshomaru convinced that she had been stolen away after they had not returned, and everyone else terrified of his wrath. But it always turned out fruitless. Always ended at a dead end, or a dead demon, or a very confused Reikai Tantei. Until, that is, a pair of thieves named Doranei and Sendoka made their way onto the scene. They were all sure it was them. From the scent on the dead demon bodies to the expert sword and dagger slashes all over the bodies.

And then their proof turned up. On one of the dead demon bodies ((for they never killed humans)) was a silver hair that belonged to a silver fox demon. When it was analyzed, they found that it was indeed Kairuco's hair. The search became frantic then, they traced murder after murder, thievery after thievery, but it still was not until the day before Kairuco's birthday that they caught up with their trail and found the girl they had searched long and hard for.

And that exact day, exactly thirty two minutes before they were found, Hiei made a promise. They were sitting together, watching the blood red sun set beneath the clouds and set out rays of amethyst mingling delicately with crimson. They leaned against each other in compatible silence, until Hiei broke the silence with his 'Kairuco, this is important' voice. "Kairuco, you realize that tomorrow, you'll be of age, and open for a mate." Kairuco looked up at him with shimmering violet eyes, urging him to go on. "And I don't want another demon claiming you as his, so I want to claim you as mine tomorrow, on your birthday." Kairuco smiled radiantly and cuddled into him, giving him her answer.

"Hiei." She murmured into his chest. "Hiei, make me a promise." He kissed her forehead to urge her as she had done to him. "Promise me that if we are ever separated, you will look for me, and never stop until we are together once more." His eyes widened at the prospect of ever being separated from her, but, nonetheless.

"I promise. I will never stop looking for you." He whispered into her silver hair, taking in the scent her hair as if it would never again reach his nostrils. "Never." And the two of them lay together, taking in each others warmth, absorbing each others aura. Mixing and mingling in each others aura as the sunset did.

And then they were found.

" Kairuco!! Hiei!!" The voice was both relieved and angry. The startled couple were immediately on their feet. The voice was so familiar, and nobody knew their real names. Who was it? And then a figure stepped out of the bushes, and immediately, the couple's fears were realized. It was one of the Reikai Tantei, it was Yusuke. Hiei and Kairuco disappeared, but were cut off by Sesshomaru, who grabbed Kairuco by her arm, twisting it so that she couldn't move. She was forced to follow him, Hiei staying next to her, not willing to leave her alone.

Just then, the rest of them showed up, Koenma in his teenage form. He began to speak, and what he had to say was not at all what they hoped to hear. "You two have broken every single law in the three worlds but one, the killing of humans. But that doesn't mean you are off the hook. Hiei, you can either go to Reikai prison, or rejoin the team. Make your decision." Hiei still free, but not willing to leave Kairuco, Hn'd defiantly and chose the team. "Okay then. And Kairuco, you can either go to Reikai prison or-"

"I'll join the team, thank you very much."

"-or you can marry Kagemusha." He finished, completely ignoring her interruption. Time froze, all sound was suspended, all sight was blurred by Kairuco's tears. And then it began again, and her expected screams did not come, her fiery temper did not materialize.

Hiei immediately had her in his arms, holding her close to him. Sesshomaru gazed coolly at him, still grasping her arm. Hiei was about to pry the tall mans fingers loose with his katana, but was stopped by Kairuco's soft words. "No, Hiei. It's okay. I will go." She looked up at him, anguish evident in her eyes, tears shimmering as they fell to the ground. "I do not want to run anymore."

"Kai. . . Kairuco, don't say that."

"Hiei, please stop." She turned to Sesshomaru. "I will go with you." He dropped her hand as she turned to hold an astounded and agonized Hiei. She held him close to her. "Hiei. . . Hiei, remember your promise." She pulled back and then kissed him softly on the lips. A lone tear fell down Hiei's cheek. As it crystallized into an ebony pearl, he caught it, and with his demonic energy, he infused a part of his spirit energy, twisting in a ribbon of lavender.

"You are my soul." He whispered gently, so that only she heard it, and placed the tear crystal into her palm, closing her fingers over it. She looked at him one last time.

"I wait for you until the end of time." She whispered, choking on her many tears. She touched his cheek tenderly and then turned away with nothing more said. Her violet eyes spilled many tears as she walked away with Sesshomaru, to meet her intended. And for the first time in his entire life, Hiei Jaganshi broke down onto his knees in defeat.
