BFK: -sigh-
May: What's wrong?
BFK: Nothing.
May: Liar.
BFK: That's true. It's just...
May: Having a depression episode?
BFK: Yeah. I just feel like nobody gives a damn whether I live or die!
May: I give a damn!! ((That little episode occurred between me and a friend of mine once))
BFK: Thanks May. That makes me feel good.
Terra: -walks in- Hey guys!
BFK: Terra! HI!
Terra: Hi Fire!
BFK: I really should be getting on with the story, eh?
Terra: Yeah

Terra sat up, shaking her head. “Dear Lord, what a trip.” She said, shaking her head. Just then, she felt the changes that Hanshou had mentioned. From the look-er-feel of things, she was growing fox ears and a tail. “Ouchies...Growing a tail is NOT pain-free.” She murmured. She stood up, reaching behind her to tug on a strand of her hair. Normally, it was blonde, but now, it was...purple? “Okay, weird. `Course, I did just go demon...” She muttered. She then spotted a lake nearby. “Ain't that convenient.” She muttered, walking over. Her hair, normally elbow-length and blonde, was now ass-length and purple. Her bangs were edged with sea green. Her outfit, previously a drab t-shirt and jeans, was now a long blue kimono, edged in sea green, with black and purple flames decorating it. She smiled, until she saw something that made her blanch. “Oh my holy hell...” She gasped. “I have a Jagan eye. Sweet.” Indeed, a purple third eye opened on her forehead, hidden by her bangs, but when the wind blew them aside, as it did now, the eye was clearly revealed. She stood up, and thrust her left hand into the air, as if ready to catch a baton, completely on instinct. When her sleeve slipped down, a warded bandage was revealed. “Cool.” She said. Into her outstretched hand, right then, fell a staff. “Cool.” Terra said, as it shifted into a sword. “OMFG. This rocks.” She said, as it shifted back into a staff.
At that point, May walked over. Her hair had waved and become ice blue. As well, her eyes were the same color. She held a sword made purely of ice. “I like it.” May remarked, seeing Terra's new look. The other girl flicked her new tail.
“It's pretty neat, huh?” Terra said, smiling. “Now, off to find the thieves. I figure they'll have traps or alarms or...something...Well, that's unobtrusive.” She was staring at a wooden sign that read, in big, red letters:
“YOU ARE ENTERING THE TERRITORY OF YOUKO KURAMA AND KUROUNE. LEAVE NOW OR FACE THE CONSEQUENCES.”
And, scribbled on later:
“Unless you're female. Then come right ahead!”
Terra sweatdropped. “Damn perverted thieves.” She muttered, shaking her head.
“My thoughts exactly.” May agreed, as the two continued into the lands.
“Well, well. Someone obviously missed the warning signs.” A silky smooth, but deep voice spoke from in front of the girls.
“I'd recognize that voice anywhere. It's Youko! No swooning, May.” Terra used her Jagan eye to tell her cousin that telepathically.
“AWESOME!” May replied, also telepathically. At that point, a seven-ish foot tall man stepped out of the shadows. He had long silver hair, golden eyes, and wore all white. He had pale skin, but his most unusual features were the silver fox ears that poked out of the top of his head and the silver fox tail that swished lazily behind him. ((BFK: -swoons- Youko!))
“Swoon and I hit you with my staff.” Terra thought to her cousin. May gave her a nervous glance.
“Righto.” She thought back, with more than a hint of nervousness in her voice. After the first man, another stepped out. This one had much more laughter in his violet eyes; long black hair tied up in a ponytail, and wore all black. He as well had some obtrusive features-huge bat wings sprouted from his back and his ears were pointed in an elflike fashion.
"Actually, Youko, two somebodies. And pretty girls!" The second one, the one with bat wings, smirked.
"Ah, yes, Kuroune. Pretty, aren't they?" Youko, the one with silver hair, wore an identical smirk. Terra leaned back against a nearby tree.
"Y'know, I think that's the first genuine compliment on my look I've ever received." She said.
"Well then, the others that have seen you must be blind. What, pray tell, is the name of such a beauty? I am Youko Kurama, King of Thieves." Youko bowed.
"Never believed a thief could have such a flattering vocabulary. I am Terra." Said girl returned the bow, smiling.
"And your companion? I am Kuroune, by the way." The bat didn't bow, but Terra shrugged it off.
"May!" May smiled brightly, causing Terra to take about a half-step away from her.
"Did I mention she's psycho?" Terra asked, sighing.
"Must have slipped your mind." Youko said.
"Must have." Terra said. "Oi, I still don't know why I put up with her."
"It's because I'm funny, and clueless, and you get to see someone dumber than you!" Note the anime stress mark that appeared on Terra's forehead after May made that particular comment.
"May..." She said warningly.
"Zipping it." May squeaked.
"Smart girl. And yes, this is normal." Terra sighed. "We've been friends for our whole lives, and we fight like this all the time." She lied.
'Why didn't you tell the truth?'
'Because, stupid, it's impossible for an ice demon and a fox demon to be related by blood.'
The mental conversation was quick. Terra closed off the link, and watched Youko and Kuroune.
"I believe you two would be most welcome at our lair." Youko said, smirking.
"Oh really, then?" Terra asked, leaning against her staff.
"Yes. Come on, girls. We're not far." Kuroune said. Both girls smiled and followed the two thieves as they led off to their lair.
"Now, watch out. Some of the subordinates will do anything for a kiss." Kuroune warned.
"Do heavy objects make good repellants?" Terra asked.
"Generally."
"Oh, good. Then I think I can take care of them." The kitsune smirked, twirling her staff.
"You sure?" Kuroune asked.
"This thing transforms into any weapon I want." Terra replied. "I have yet to find out if that includes erm...unconventional weapons, but I do hope so. Otherwise, I can just whack 'em with the staff." She said.
"Alright, that oughta work. And your friend?"
"I tell you, dry ice is very, very painful. As is ten-inch thick ice when it comes in contact with your head." Terra replied.
"Ice demon?"
"Ice demon."
"Ah."
By the time the two had finished their conversation, all four had arrived at the hideout.
"Nice." Terra commented. It was a large house, with several floors, and no doubt belowground levels.
“It's not much, but it's home.” Terra felt a hand on her shoulder, and looked back, to see it was Youko.
“Not much? Jeez, you should see the shack I grew up in...” Terra muttered, her fox tail flicking back and forth.
“Hmmm.” Youko replied. “Come on. We can't stand out here all day.” The silver-haired bandit said, as Terra nodded.
“Righto.” She said, following him in.
“Lemme guess, at least eighty percent stolen?” She asked once she got in. The furnishings were lavish, so lavish that she had to believe that nearly all of it was burgled of poor unsuspecting rich youkai.
“Eitghy-five, actually.” Youko said. “Come on. There are two rooms I believe will suit you.” The bandit lead both girls up to the second story, and opened the door to the eighth room on the left. “Miss Terra?” He smiled at her stunned expression. It was PERFECT. Red and black all over, decorated with an orange rising phoenix on one wall. The furnishings were extremely lavish- a large bed, with gold trim inlaid in the wood, and a red blanket with black trim. “You like it?” Youko asked. Terra could only nod dumbly.
Youko then led May to the room across the hall, and smiled at her equally startled expression. This room was done in all shades of blue, with a mural of a snow-covered forest decorating all four walls. “Thank you...” May said, walking in.
“I'm glad you like them.” The bandit said, smiling. “You'll meet the rest of the band tomorrow. For now, sleep. You look tired.” May nodded, and flopped down on the bed. She was asleep the instant her head hit the pillow, and Youko walked across the hall to give Terra the same advice.
(Insert line break)
“So, what do you think of them?” Kuroune asked. He and Youko sat in the fox demon's study, discussing the two girls.
“I think that they are a pair of rather sweet girls-a little too sweet for youkai, but then again, you have your anomalies in every species.” Youko said.
“I agree. D'ya think they'd make decent thieves?” The bat asked.
“Of course-especially Terra. She seems quite sly, and I bet that she could put all that youki to use in getting us in and out of places. And did you see her Jagan eye? I think she may be able to teleport us-or even use telekinesis. That would mean getting in and out without even alerting any guards.” Youko pointed out.
“True.” Kuroune nodded. “And they are kinda cute...” The bat smiled.
“For once, I agree.” Youko said, sighing. “We'll test them on or hiest tomorrow-the one to the Palace of Makai. Fair?”
“Fair.”
BFK: Yay! Another chappie done! :)
