Yu Yu Hakusho Fan Fiction ❯ Detective Storms ❯ Chapter 5 ( Chapter 5 )

[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]

For my most favored reviewers, Chapter 5 (aka the chapter that tried to thwart my every attempt to write it!) Don't worry, Chapter 6 (though in all likelihood shorter) will be up by the end of next week! I Promise! ~IceyRose

Chapter 5: “Who the Hell are you?

*Kurama's point of view*

As I stepped into the gathering room, I was greeted by five young girls, all of whom were looking at me with a sparkle in each of their eyes. Oh no, I thought, more fan girls. They all turned to look at one another, and then the one in the center nodded and all five of the girls stood at the same time.

The one in the center stepped a bit in front of the others and extended her hand towards me. “Hello. You must be Kurama.” When I took her hand and shook it, she continued. “I'm Detective Chiara Storms and these are my Tantei. Prince Koenma of Reikai sent us to help you in your upcoming endeavor.”

This confused me and it must have showed on my face, because Miss Storms reached into a previously invisible pocket and pulled out business card and handed it to me. The card read: “Chiara Storms, Reikai Tantei Team One Leader. Designated area of protection: Reikai.”.

By this time, I saw that Yusuke and Hiei had returned to the room, dragging Kuwabara behind them. Seeing that I was holding something, Yusuke immediately jumped up and snatched the card away from the kitsune.

“Reikai Tantei? Team One? What in the hell is this?” he bellowed.

The woman identified as Chiara slowly turned her head in Yusuke's direction as the girls behind her winced at the earsplitting volume at which he was speaking. “And you would be Yusuke Urameshi. I've heard much recently about you.” She went to extend her hand, but at the grim look he shot at her, she decided against it and returned her hand to her side.

“What kind of posers are you? Koenma only has one set of spirit detectives and I'm the leader.” He moved right in front of her. “You'd better start talking before I start thinking up ways to make you talk.”

The girl's eyes flashed with a combination of determination and annoyance, and then smiled sweetly. “Koenma-sama said you'd be a little resistant. So, he sent me with a videotape.” She materialized a black videotape from another unseen pocket and handed it to the angered young man. “We're going to plan out tomorrow in the yard. When you're finished pulling your foot out of your mouth, you can find us there.“ She turned her head back to the women she was with and nodded. She waited for her teammates to leave and made to leave herself, but not before turning back to Yusuke. “You might want to take a couple of interpersonal skill lessons from your friend Kurama. You'll need them to survive your training.” She smiled and then strode out the door.

Yusuke watched the door slide shut in silence. Then, he exploded with a flurry of words that would make even the hardest-hearted demon blush. “WHO THE HELL DOES SHE THINK SHE IS!? JUST DROPS IN, TRYING TO STEAL MY JOB! Wait, I don't even LIKE this job! SHE CAN HAVE THE STUPID JOB!” Then he turned towards the doorway that the woman had left through and shouted, “YOU CAN HAVE THE DAMN JOB! YOU FIGHT TOGORO! “

Quickly, before Yusuke could turn in his proverbial badge, I interjected. “Yusuke, perhaps you should watch the video that they brought. Maybe it will shed some light on their sudden appearance.” Grumbling, he sat down beside Hiei on the couch, just as Kuwabara walked into the room.

“What's the big idea, Urameshi? I was having some quality time with my sweet Yukina!” Upon hearing Hiei growl, he turned on him. “Jealous?”

“Fool. I will kill you.” He replied

“Let's watch the stupid video so we can get on with our lives. Sit down, Kuwabara.” Yusuke popped the video in the VCR and sat back down.
