Chapter Ten: Introductions Both Good and Bad

Amelia was shaken awake by Hiei the next morning. She looked at the clock to see that it was only 6:00 AM.

"What the hell? Go away; it's too early to get up."

"It's time to train. Get up and get dressed."

Amelia put her pillow over her head in defiance.

"Normal people don't get up this early Hiei," she said through the pillow, but instead it sounded like:

"Shmoral meeple doen shetup dis huly bee a."

"I don't have time for your nonsense get up."

Amelia threw her pillow at Hiei to tell him to shut up. Instead of replying thought, Hiei picked her mattress up and flipped it over. Flipping Amelia over along with it

<I hate you.>

<I don't care.>

Amelia crawled out from under the mattress and got dressed. She grabbed her sword and followed Hiei out the door.

Once they got to Genkai's temple they found Genkai herself waiting outside of the forest for them.

"What are you doing here?" Hiei asked.

"I live here moron. And I heard that the girl from America got in yesterday. Why didn't you bring her to see me?"

Before Hiei could reply Amelia quickly cut him off.

"Hi I'm Amelia. I'm really sorry that we didn't have a chance to come and see you yesterday. Hiei insisted that we start training first. We were just coming to see you anyway," Amelia said rather fast.

"I accept your apology. I was actually expecting you to act more like Hiei. I'm very glad that I was wrong. We don't need another shrimp with a bad attitude around here."

<Did she just complement me and insult the both of us at the same time?> Amelia asked.

<Looks that way,> Hiei replied.

"What are you two still doing here? Go train already."

"Oh right. Let's go. Nice to meet you Genkai," Amelia said while pushing Hiei towards the forest.

Hiei and Amelia began training once again. Hiei was amazed that Amelia had gotten so much better after only one day of training.

Whenever Hiei attacked Amelia she was always ready. She blocked his strikes with ease as if she'd been practicing swordsmanship all of her life.

"You know Hiei I think you were right. Swords are better than using knives to fight," she said with a fatigued smile on her face.

"Hn. I told you so; you alright?"

"Yeah, just tired is all."

Amelia continued to rest while Hiei simply sat waiting for her. While waiting he felt a familiar energy close by. The energy belonged to the one who had been watching him and Amelia in America.

Hiei saw a shadowy figure suddenly appear from behind Amelia. Amelia slowly turned around upon seeing the look on Hiei's face. She yelped and quickly ran to Hiei's side.

"Who are you?" Amelia demanded.

"What kind of greeting is that Amara? After all it's been so long since we've seen each other," he said.

Amara? That's what that Ryushi guy from my dream called me. It couldn't be....could it? Amelia thought.

The mysterious warrior had jet black with clothes to match. He had fierce golden eyes that looked as if they could see straight into your soul. In Amelia's dream if had been too dark to discern her assailant's features, but now she had absolutely no doubt that this was Ryushi.

"Answer me now. Who are you?" Amelia asked; praying that she was wrong.

"You don't remember me? Not at all? It's me Amara; your master, Lord Ryushi."

I hate being right, she thought.

"I've never met you. And my name's not Amara. I'm Amelia."

"Child you know nothing of your past do you?"

"Of course I do and it's none of your business!"

"I see. Then can you tell me the names of your parents?"

A shocked look came upon Amelia's face. Hiei could see that Ryushi was right. Hiei had guessed correctly Amelia, or Amara as it may have been, had lost her memory.

She did not know who she truly was and that scared them both more than anything. If she was truly Amara than who was Amara? How did Ryushi know her? How had she lost her memory? There were too many questions to be answered in too little time. Hiei needed to get Amelia away from here before Ryushi could hurt her.

<Amelia stay behind me. I'll take care of him,> he told her.

<No. You stay out of this. He wants to see me, not you.>

"What do you want with me?" Amelia asked.

Ryushi laughed as if she should know.

"If you knew who you truly were you would know already. Ah, but you will be of no use to me if you don't even know who I am. I guess I should restore those memories of yours shouldn't I? I hope you enjoyed living in ignorant bliss these past years Amara, because it's all about to end."

In a flash Ryushi was in standing in front of her. He raised his hand which had started to glow with a soft blue light. Amelia couldn't move. Her brain said run and yet her legs stood rooted to the spot.

Ryushi touched Amelia's forehead with his index and middle fingers. Memories Amelia couldn't recognize came flooding into her mind. Amelia dropped to the ground; clutching her head in pain.

Hiei rushed immediately to her side.

"Amelia what's wrong?" He asked.

"It hurts. Make it stop Hiei. Please make it stop," she begged with pleading eyes and tears running down her face.

Amelia passed out and fell into Hiei's arms. Hiei gently laid her down on the ground and stood to face Ryushi.

"What did you do to her?"

"Oh nothing much, I simply restored the memories she lost. Having to relive such awful events must be very painful for her."

Hiei growled in anger at Ryushi.

How dare he hurt Amelia? I'll kill him. I'll make him suffer for as long as I can, Hiei thought.

"Oh how sweet. You've fallen in love with the girl. Well I'm sorry to inform you that Amara is my servant as her mother was before her. Enjoy the time you have left with her, for I shall come for Amara soon."

With that Ryushi vanished into thin air. Hiei would have chased after him, but he knew that he needed to see to Amelia.

He carefully picked her up and ran as fast as he could to Genkai's temple. Once there he was surprised to see that Genkai was already outside waiting for them.

"What did you do Hiei? You couldn't have overworked her that much," Genkai asked.

"I did nothing. This demon that calls himself Ryushi jumped us. He said knew Amelia and some other stupid stuff. After that he touched her head with this blue light and she passed out," Hiei told her; trying to keep the story short. He told himself he'd explain later.

"I don't know what's wrong with her. Can you help her.?"

"Bring her inside. I'll call the others and we can see what's wrong."

Genkai called the others immediately and told Hiei to bring Amelia to one of the guest rooms. Genkai inspected Amelia closely. She didn't have any real wounds except for the ones she had gotten while training with Hiei. Those were only scratches though.

"Whatever is making her suffer is in her mind Hiei. There's nothing anyone can do except wait for her to wake up. I'm sorry, but there's just nothing else we can do but hope."

Genkai left Hiei to join the others. Hiei stayed behind and watched Amelia struggle alone with the unknown enemy that she was facing.

There may be nothing that a simple human can do, but I can at least try to help, Hiei thought.

With that Hiei once again used his Jagan to enter her mind. Unaware of what he would find but still hoping that somewhere he would find Amelia. No, not Amelia; Amara, his Amara.
