Yu Yu Hakusho Fan Fiction ❯ Everything Unknown ❯ Chapter Thirteen: How It Happened ( Chapter 13 )
[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]
(Hi people! Heh, I know it's been over a year since I updated this, and I'm sorry about that. It's just that after I started my second fanfic, Life Through a Dragon's Eyes, this one, my first one that is, made me feel so…amateurish. Plus, people pretty much stopped commenting on this after a while, so I thought nobody liked it anymore and I stopped. Anyway, I actually have this entire fanfic done. Twenty-one chapters if I remember correctly. Anyway, if anyone still wants this to keep going, just review after the chapters I put up. Thanks.)
(P.S. I'm currently writing a Naruto fanfic, my very first one. I'm kind of scared to put it up. Some people are cruel. ^^' Anyway, for those of you who still review this or my other fanfic, please take a vote and tell me if you want me to put it up. I've only got a prologue, and the first two chapters made though. Oh, and I also have pictures of the characters I made up myself, but I can't put them on here anyway, so that's irrelevant. Heh, oops; I'll stop blabbing now. Bye.)
Chapter Thirteen: How It Happened
Amara awoke in dark room made of stone. It was cold, damp, and smelled of fear and hopelessness. Amara's eyes widened in shock as she remembered what had happened.
No, she thought, I guess I really should've listened to the boys.
Amara felt extremely ashamed for letting herself be abducted so easily, and for letting her mom down. She had told her to never let her freedom be taken from her and that's probably what Ryushi had in mind. She would probably end up as his servant, whether she wanted to or not.
She decided to inspect the room since she didn't really have anything else to do. The room wasn't all that small, but still small enough to make her feel a little claustrophobic. On the wall opposite to her there was a single wooden door. Amara tried knocking it down but to no avail. Amara gave up and just sat on the floor again, despair taking over her once more.
It occurred to Amara that Ryushi had taken her sword, but she still had her knife. She guessed he must not have noticed that she still had it with her. Her mother's words suddenly came into her head. The final words her mother had said to her.
Freedom is the most important thing you will ever have. It is better to die than to have it taken from you, she heard them in her head as clearly as if her mother was standing right next to her.
It is better to die, than to have your freedom taken you. I can still do what you said Mom, she thought as she took out her knife and stared at it.
The little light that was in the room flashed off the metal. The cold, cruel, unforgiving metal blade looked so inviting in Amara's eyes. She slowly brought it to her throat. She held it there for a moment, feeling the cool steel against her skin.
"No!" Someone suddenly yelled while tackling her and wrestling the knife away.
"What the heck are you thinking?!! I know this place can be pretty harsh, but that is so not the way to escape from here," her newly found roommate said.
The person that had tackled her was female. She had long slightly messy dark brown hair with a few blond streaks and hazel colored eyes. Amara felt as if she knew her, like she was a long lost friend. But she knew they had never met before today.
"Who....who are you?" Amara asked.
She smiled and said, "You look so much like her," rather than answering her question.
"Answer me," she demanded.
"Oh. Sorry. It's just you remind me so much of Mai it almost hurts. The name's Kiri."
Something clicked in Amara's mind right then. Mai that was her mom's name. How did they know each other?
"You knew my mom?"
"Yes. I'm sorry that you lost her. It hurt me too, to learn that Ryushi had finally killed her. I always thought she was too stubborn to die. I guess I was wrong."
"How did you know her?"
"That's a rather long story."
"Does it look like I'm going anywhere to you?"
Back at Genkai's temple everyone was extremely anxious to hear from Koenma. It had already been a few hours and everybody, especially Hiei, was on edge.
"He should have come up with something by now. He's just stalling to annoy me," Hiei said in an aggravated voice.
"Be reasonable Hiei, even Koenma wouldn't do that," Kurama said, trying to calm the fire demon down before he blew something up.
Suddenly Yusuke's communicator rang. He opened it and Koenma appeared on screen.
"I found her! It wasn't easy but I finally got a fix on Amara's location!" Koenma yelled in excitement from his triumph.
"Okay so where the heck are they? We don't exactly have all day," Yusuke asked.
"Kurama was right Ryushi's hideout is definitely in Demon World. It's right at the heart of a demon infested forest. They're pretty low level demons so that'll be the easier part. Botan will be coming in less than a minute so she can open up a portal that'll transport you to the outskirts of the forest, but from their your on your own."
"No sweat! I can beat up that Ryushi guy all by myself if I wanted to," Kuwabara boasted.
"Understood. Get Botan here so she can open up that portal now," Hiei demanded, ignoring Kuwabara's bragging of course.
Back at Ryushi's castle Kiri was telling Amara the story of how she knew her mother.
"Your mother and I had been best friends since we were both about thirteen I believe. You see, both Mai and I were....feared in school. We loved to fight and everyone knew it," Kiri began.
::FLASHBACK::
A thirteen-year-old Kiri was just finishing beating up a couple of boys that had said she was weird.
"Stupid idiots! Go crawl back under the rock you came from!" She yelled in anger.
They ran away scared as you can probably guess. Then a thirteen-year-old Mai stepped out in front of them.
"I believe she told you to crawl," Mai said in a very menacing voice.
The boys got down on their knees and crawled away as fast as they could. Leaving Mai and Kiri in a giggle fit behind.
"Wow. I didn't think anyone but me could be that threatening," Kiri told her in admiration.
"Yeah. I get a lot of practice. You know, from all the people around here thinking they can beat anyone. Nothing feels better than to bust a hot-aired filled ego from time to time," she replied through a laugh.
"I'm Kiri. What's your name?"
"The name's Mai. We make a pretty good team. Want to be friends?" She said while sticking her hand out for Kiri to shake.
"Sure. We'll be unstoppable," Kiri replied, shaking her hand.
Four years later Mai and Kiri were still best friends. They'd discovered that they both had a few strange talents. Both of them could see ghosts. They were fighting once again. Nobody except for new kids wanted to challenge them anymore. They were all too afraid, so they fought each other to keep from getting rusty.
"I guess we should be heading home. My parents are going to kill me if I come home late again," Mai told her.
"Yeah? My parents think I'm sleeping over at your house so I might as well come with you."
As the girls walked home an unknown entity followed them. Ryushi appeared in front of them suddenly.
"Hello ladies. I'm a bit lost. Would you mind helping me?" He asked, faking innocence.
"Of course we'll help. Where do you want us to take you?" Kiri asked.
"Oh it's not where you can take me. It's where I'm taking the both of you," Ryushi replied, an evil smile spreading on his face.
"What are you....." Mai tried to ask as Ryushi knocked the both of them out.
::END FLASHBACK::
"After that we ended up in this very room. All of Ryushi's servants have some type of special power. I guess that's why he picked us," Kiri told Amara in a solemn voice.
"Oh man...I never knew," Amara said in astonishment.
Back at Genkai's Botan had finally arrived and opened a portal for them.
"There you go boys. Good luck. I hope you find her soon," Botan told them.
I hope so too, Hiei thought.
"Let's go!" Yusuke yelled while stepping into the portal.
Kurama and Kuwabara followed him in. All were hoping that they could find their newest friend unharmed. And all of them hoping that Ryushi wouldn't be that strong a foe. Especially because they didn't have a clue as to what he could do. Hiei of course was much more worried than he let on. He just wanted to find Amara and get her away from Ryushi as fast as he could.
"Hiei aren't you going?" Botan asked, startling Hiei out of his thoughts.
"Hn," was all he said as he walked into the portal.
Back at Ryushi's place Amara tried to send Hiei a mental message in desperation.
<Hiei I don't know if you can hear me, but I'm sorry. I'm sorry for not listening to you. And....I hope you can get here soon. I....I miss you,> she thought.
"You better get some sleep. First day of work is always the hardest," Kiri told her.
"Yeah, yeah," she said, taking the blanket Kiri handed her.
"Don't worry. You have a lot more friends than I did. They seem to care about you. They'll come. You've just got to wait."
"I know," she said with a smile and fell asleep.
