The Secret

“Beep…Beep…Beep…” “I guess I should wake up now so I'm not late for school again like I was last week.” Jessica got up, took a shower, put on her school uniform, and ate some breakfast. Then she grabbed her backpack and went out the door. “Oh Hello Jessica, how are you today?” Shuichi said as he was coming out of his apartment. “Oh I'm fine I guess, how about you?” “I'm doing very well today.” Shuichi replied. “Would you like to walk to school with me again today?” “Sure.”

`It's been a week since I met Shuichi, and I think we are becoming good friends. He does say some weird things sometimes though, but I don't mind. Shuichi is so polite, and kind. He's a very beautiful person. He's smart, cute, and very sweet. I think I may have a little crush on him.' “Hey Jessica do you think you can come over after school today?” “Sure Shuichi.”

Jessica has made a few more acquaintances at school. All of them were guys because most of the girls at school didn't like Jessica very much because she hangs out with Shuichi, and there're all jealous of that. Almost all the girls at school love Shuichi. They even have a fan club for him. School went by really fast that day. After school Shuichi and Jessica walked home together. When they got to his place he unlocked the door and put down his stuff. His Mom hadn't come home yet from work. Shuichi and Jessica sat down in his living room. “Would you like anything to eat or drink Jessica?” “Ummm… Green Tea please, if you don't mind.” “Nope I don't mind at all, I'll be right back.”

`Shuichi's apartment looks really nice; it's very warm and comfortable. My apartment still looks bad. I'm so lazy that I still haven't unpacked all my things yet.' “I'm back. Here you go, some nice hot Green Tea.” “Arigotto Shuichi.” Just than Shuichi's mom came home. “Hello Shuichi, and… oh this must be Jessica. Shuichi has told me so much about you, will you be staying for dinner?” Asked Mrs. Minamino as she arrived home. “Ummm if its no trouble, I'd love to stay.” “Oh its no trouble at all, I'll go start it right now.” “Hey Jessica, can we go back to my room, I need to talk to you?” Shuichi asked. “Ummm sure.” `I wonder what Shuichi has to talk to me about.'

They got up and took all of their schoolbooks to Shuichi's room. “Jessica I know you have only known me for a week but I know that I can trust you, and I believe that you trust me.” “Well sure I trust you Shuichi, your such a honest person.” “Thanks, but my real name's not Shuichi Minamino.” “What, really, did you have it legally changed or something?” “No, Shuichi Minamino is the name that my current mother gave me when I was born into this world. My real name is Youko Kurama.” “Youko Kurama, how come that name sounds so familiar?” “It should be familiar, we knew each other about 16 years ago.” “That's impossible I wasn't even born 16 years ago, I'm only 15 years old.” “I know, but we met before we were born.” “You mean like in a past life?” “Well, something like that. You see your memory of your other life was erased when you were born from your current mother, but I kept my memory of my other life.” “This is confusing.” “I'm sorry I'm sort of beating around the bush so you don't get overwhelmed with all this information.” “Well I don't get overwhelmed easily, so can you go a little more into detail with this.” “If you promise not to leave me and promise to try and believe every thing I say.” “Leave you! What does that mean?” “It means that no matter how weird the things I am going to tell you are, don't just get up and run away, and don't avoid me in the future because of it either.” “I promise I will sit here and listen to you, and try really hard to believe what you are going to say to me.” “Ok, well it here goes.”

“Well let me start off by talking a little bit about my true self. I am a demon; well a Fox Demon is more like it. I can control plants, and use them as weapons. I also have a huge amount of spirit energy, which is like having a lot of strength, and power. Are you ok, you look a little pale, do you want me to stop?” “No its ok. Actually I think it's really cool that you're a demon, as long as you're not a really evil demon.” “Well I was pretty evil when we knew each other, but I'm not evil at all anymore.” “What kind of evil things did you do when we knew each other?” “Well I was known as the legendary bandit. I stole things, and killed lots of other demons, but don't worry, I never hurt you or your family though I did steal from them once or twice. I'm really around 315 years old. 300 years as a full demon, and 15 years as a half demon. “Did you look 300 years old when we knew each other?” “No higher class demons don't age after they turn 18, you're probably about 140 years old now.” “WHAT!! I'm that old!? “Give or take a few years, yes.” “Really? Wait that means…” “Indeed you too are a demon.” “What!? Really!? What kind?” “You're a Darkness Demon.” “Really, that's so cool. What kind of powers do I have?” “You can control darkness, and shadows and use them as weapons, and you have a lot of hidden spirit energy.”

“Wow I really wasn't expecting you too think all of this was cool, and truly believe every thing I said.” “Well you're a very trustworthy person and all this stuff kind of sounds familiar, like I should remember it but I just don't. It's like having something on the tip of your tongue but you can't quite grasp what it is.” “Well maybe one day we can get your memory restored, but for now I'll try and help you learn everything about your past.” “Is it really that important for my memory to be restored? I don't see the point in it.” “Yes it's very important that you get your memory restored.” “Why?” “Because I really need you to remember me and all the time we spent together” “Why is that so important, it's all in the past now?” “Because we were very much in love, and I still have strong feelings for you.” Shuichi said as his face started to turn as red as his hair. Than all of a sudden he started to break down. “What!? We were lovers? Wait now why are you crying.” “I'm sorry I shouldn't be braking down right here its just…I feel so horrible.” “Why do you feel horrible?” “Don't get me wrong I'm really happy I found you after all these years, its just the day we were separated was the worst day of my life. Talking about all of this brought back all the good memories as well as the bad ones.” “I'm sorry Shuichi, do you want to stop talking about this?” “Please, call me Kurama when your only with me, I'm used to you calling me by my demon name, and don't worry about me, I'll be fine, I shouldn't be acting like this in front of you, and besides I still have more to tell you about your past.” “Okay Shui… I mean Kurama if you say so.”

Kurama went on telling Jessica how she was the Princess of the Demon World, and how her real mother, the Queen, was a Fire Demon, and her real father, the King, was a Darkness Demon. He said she had a brother too but he didn't know much about him. “So I'm part of a Royal Demon family. That's cool.” “Well you didn't like it much when you were a part of it. Your parents didn't let you leave the castle until after the day you decided to run away from it. The day you ran away from the castle was also the first day we met. You were only about 120 years old when we first met, while I was 295 years old.” “So you mean I was cooped up in a castle for 120 years?!” “Yes but that is a small number to a demon when demons can live to be thousands of years old.” “THOUSANDS!!! Do you mean I might live to be a thousand?” “Well after your human body dies or you get rid of it, yes you could live to be a thousand or even more.” “Wow that's a long time. Can you tell me more about the day we first met?” “Sure, it was a rainy day in spring”

{FLASHBACK} (Kurama's POV)
“It sure is raining a lot.” “Yes my lord we are expecting a big storm today.” One of my maidservants said. “Humph…well I'm going to go check up on some of my plants in the garden.” “But why lord? I already sent one of the other servants to do that.” SMACK!!! “Only I can give the orders here, and do not question my decisions. Learn you place women.” “Yes my lord. I'm sorry to have ever questioned you, and to have giving an order without your consent.” “Humph… I should kill you right here and now but lucky for you I'm not in the mood today.” And with that said I left the room. Well if one of my servants is already checking up on my garden then I'll go check up on my plants in the forest.

I ran out of my Keep, past my garden, over my bridge, and into my forest. My forest is loaded with vicious plants that will attack any demon that enters my territory, except for very weak demons, non-threatening demons, or most women. The women that enter my territory are usually weaker than me so I usually trick them into sleeping with me, and than I kill them afterwards. Most women jump at the chance to spend a night with me, but I don't do this for free. They have to pay with their lives. The catch is they don't know the price until its too late. “What's that noise? Sounds like a women crying. Good another victim.” I hid behind a bush, and parted its branches, to see where the noise was coming from. When I saw the women who was crying I immediately fell in love with her. She had long brown hair, and big red eyes. She wore a black dress with red trimming. It looked like she was either a darkness demon, or a fire demon. My previous thoughts of her being another victim vanished. I stood up and walked over to her. “Excuse me Ms., what are you doing in my territory?” “Oh! I'm terribly sorry I did not realize that I had entered another demons territory.” “That's all right, but may I ask what's troubling you Ms.” “Oh its nothing really, just some family problems.” “What kind of family problems.” “Well my parents are really protective of me and have kept me in the house for my whole life and I got into a fight with them this morning about how they wont let me leave the house. They didn't listen to me, and I got really mad at them and ran away.” “Ah, so that also explains why you look so tired and how you came into another demons territory without even noticing, but I don't blame you for running away, if I still had parents and they tried to keep me in my house for my whole life, I'd run away too. Why are your parents so protective of you.” “Well…they really don't want me to get hurt.” “I see. How far away do you live?” “Oh I'm not quite sure but I'm pretty sure I was running for about a half an hour, but I didn't run in a straight line though. Knowing me I probably ran in circles for a while.” “Well then you probably don't live too far away. I'd say probably about 15 minuets since you didn't go in a straight line. My keep is only about a minute away at my top speed, would you like to go there and rest a bit.” “Oh! No, no I couldn't; I don't want to be a burden, and cause you so much trouble.” “No it would be no trouble at all. I insist. And besides there's a big storm coming, and I wouldn't want you to get caught in it.” “Well the sky does look ominous.” “Good than it's settled.” “Wait I didn't get your name.” “Oh, my name is Youko Kurama, and yours?” “Oh its Princess Jessica Watsuki.” “Princess?” “Opps… I wasn't supposed to tell you that.” “So you're Princess Jessica, The Princess of the Demon World. Don't worry I wont tell anybody, it'll be our secret. Since you told me your whole name, I guess its only fair that I tell you mine. My full name is The Legendary Bandit Youko Kurama.”

{END OF FLASHBACK} (Regular POV)
“After I had told you my whole name you passed out, from shock I guess, and I took you back to my keep, where you rested until the storm passed, and then you went home. After that day you came back almost every other day of your demon life.” “Awwww, that's such a sweet story, but how did my demon life en…” “Shuichi, Jessica dinners ready.” Mrs. Minamino called. “All right mother. Lets go Jessica; I'm famished. All this talking worked up an appetite” “Yeah it sure did.”

A/N: Well that chapter certainly answered a lot of questions. I might have explained the situation too early in the story but o well; I guess it'll all work out in the end. Next chapter hopefully will be up by the end of November but I'm not assuring anything, I can be slow in writing.
