Girl of eternal suffering
Episode 3:
Help Yugure?
*~*
“Then it's agreed but there is one thing I must ask of you before we leave for the Ningenkai, Hiei” Koenma said sounding very serious. “I want you to promise not to kill Yugure if we do find him.”
“Why?” Hiei said threateningly.
“Because there are still many things we don't know about Yugure. At least wait until the mission is over, Hiei.”
Hiei growled menacingly, but nodded.
*~*
Now that Hiei had come face to face with Yugure it was hard to keep himself from reacting foolishly. Simply her name made his blood boil and the thought of helping her was turning him inside out. So his immediate response was to grab for his katana. But as he did Koenma's teenage form put a restrictive arm in front of him.
“Wait, Hiei.” Koenma whispered. “At least until the mission is over…!”
He gave a small grunt of frustrated protest as his entire body seethed with hatred. Nevertheless he slowly removed his hand from the hilt and stood straight to merely glare at the woman
“Answer me!” the woman cried furiously, pushing the young girl away.
“Oka-” Amai began.
“Go back to the Ningenkai, Amai- now!” Yugure said seemingly trying to push away the overwhelming fury in her voice. “I told you not to follow me!” then she looked up to Koenma and said with her voice filled with wrath. “Take. Her. Back to the Ningenkai!” her eyes were practically flashing a bloody crimson from her ire.
Koenma drew back with a comedic look of terror on his face “umm… uh… why are you… uh looking at me?” everyone sweatdropped, except Yugure who kept a very fearsome look upon her face. Her eyebrows slanted downward as she took a threatening step closer.
“Because,” she said through clenched teeth “aren't you the son of that pathetic ogre, Enma? What, do you think I'm stupid or something? Well, I know who you are and I know what your powers are. So take her back- NOW!!”
This was…odd. The girl was supposed to be evil yet she seemed to care very much for Amai.
“I thought you said she was a he!! And the HE was pure evil?!” Kuwabara said looking frightfully at Yugure. He turned to look heatedly at Koenma “I-I can't fight a girl!” That irritated Hiei; his eye twitched. He wasn't willing to give up his stupid pride and pathetic morals to avenge Yukina? Didn't Kuwabara “love” Yukina?
“Uh- yeah… uh I told you we didn't know much about erm…her…!” Koenma had started sweating profusely and was trying an innocent smile.
“What are you fools mumbling about? KOENMA!” He jumped turning again to the heated Yugure. “Take Amai back to the ningenkai or I'll kill you, myself!!!” And at those words Yugure emitted a burst of demonic power so great the entire team was pushed back several paces.
“But, Okasan!” Amai said pulling on the woman's sleeve “ I wanna help you save Yoake and Churitsu!”
“No!” Yugure said softly. “I told you already. It is far too dangerous here. Go home. Before something happens!” She pushed Amai closer to the others.
Now everyone was even more confused! Save Yoake and Churitsu?! “Hey Koenma” Yusuke said turning to his royal lowness “I thought they were all rivals? Why would Yugure want to save Yoake and Churitsu?”
“Oh yeah! I uh- forgot! Yeah apparently the three were reborn as siblings: Two girls (Yoake and Yugure) and a boy (Churitsu)” he was sweating even more now- and his face was red hot with embarrassment.
“Koenma…!” Yugure called. Koenma nodded and went to grab the girl before Yugure could do anything else frightening. He spun around and headed off in the direction where the portal had been. Amai gave a groan of protest but followed him. He was gone soon there after to the Ningenkai with the girl.
“I think you all should follow him.” Yugure said turning and walking in the direction Amai had been leading them before. “If you follow me- I have not the time nor the interest in killing you, myself, unless you interfere. However there are certain people who would kill you on sight. Be gone if you wish to keep your lives.”
“Tsh. Whatever, woman. We're not leaving. We got stuff to do.”
“Suit yourself, but don't expect any help from me.” She said without turning from her path.
This was pissing Hiei off. Help? From her? Like he needed any. And he especially didn't want to help her! She was dead when this mission was over. He'd do that, himself! He didn't care if the little girl would be upset or anything like that! He would kill her no matter what!
“Kill me, Hiei?” Yugure said stopping momentarily. “You wouldn't even be able to harm me! You saw how the almighty Koenma reacted to my power! What makes you think you could defeat me?”
Hiei growled in aggravated shock as the woman continued walking. He had to kill her! He had to make her pay for the pain she had caused Yukina. The pain she had caused him.
Yugure immediately whirled and set her eyes to glare furiously at him. “Pain? You know nothing of pain!” Hiei paused and their piercing eyes met on level. It was only then that Hiei noticed it! She looked like she was eighteen, yet her eyes told of a much older age. They were almost like doll's eyes- cold and lifeless and her stare was centuries old masking every emotion she had- even anger was not exuded from behind her dead pupils… And another thing he hadn't noticed before. She had a black bandana around her forehead. He hadn't noticed it before because the three dark locks of hair that hung over her face had masked it. She was definitely odd. He turned away from her to stare at the trees.
The others were glancing at each of them cautiously, wondering what had happened. They didn't dare step in. She eventually turned away to continue ahead. Hiei kept his mind blank afterwards.
Eventually their trek ended before a huge castle enshrouded in a dark cloud filled with an evil aura. Yugure led the way pushing aside the heavy iron door and heading inward. Their path led through dungeons that reeked of the dead. This place definitely didn't fell comforting to any of them. But Yugure kept on without stopping a moment to worry about the surroundings. She seemed not to notice the cries of anguish emanating from the top of the great tower nor the putrid stench of rotting flesh. She almost seemed used to it. There was barely any lighting in the halls as well but she trudged on as if she had been here several times before. Until finally they came to door which she pushed inward to reveal a room with far better lighting then the corridors before.
“Ah… Welcome, Mistress of Death.” a male's voice snickered from the center of the room. Before them he stood, holding a creepy edged weapon with several notches and carvings along the sharp end. He had short black hair and a long black robe. His eyes were dark as the moonless night sky and cold as ice. There came a gasp from Yugure! “It couldn't be… Haiyuki?” she whispered with shock in her voice.
