Chapter 7 : Rematch - Yusuke vs. Gavin

 

 

“Let the fight begin!” shouted Genkai.

 

“Are you ready, Yusuke? As before, you can have the first move.” Gavin said calmly.

 

“Thanks. Hope you're ready to get beat!” shouted Yusuke as he charged towards Gavin.

 

Yusuke went to attack Gavin with a left hook to the face, but Gavin just ducked to avoid it. Yusuke expected this and pointed his right index finger directly at Gavin's chest. “Spirit Gun!” he shouted. The blast of energy hit Gavin directly in the chest sending him straight into the ground. He skidded some yards before hitting a tree, which then collapsed on top of him.

 

“Hopefully that isn't all you have Gavin or this is going to be a short fight.”

 

The tree exploded as Gavin stood up. “Don't worry, I'm just getting started.” Gavin took off the black vest he had been wearing and threw it to the ground. He told Yusuke, “Alright, this is going to be it. I'm not going to let this match get called off… and I'm NOT going to lose.” A black orb began to surround Gavin.

 

Yusuke was confused, but not worried. He had seen power like this before from Hiei, Sensui, and others. Yusuke decided Gavin was going to try to end the fight quickly. He began gathering energy into his right fist. Before he could complete his power charging, Gavin appeared behind him and kicked him on the side of the face. The blow sent Yusuke soaring into the tree that Leo was resting under. The tree fell over, sending Leo toppling onto his side.

 

Leo awoke and began yelling “Where the hell am I?”

 

Hanako responded “It's the last match. Gavin and Yusuke are fighting.”

 

“Really? Has Gavin gotten serious yet?”

 

“Not quite” responded Konryu. “He's only taken his vest off which means he's planning on using one of his more “special” techniques.”

 

Yusuke got up, messaging his right cheek where he had gotten kicked. “Damn, that was one hell of a frickin' kick. I was lucky I stopped charging right then or I would have lost a lot of energy. Hm… I've got to think. There has to be a way to counteract that kind of speed. …. That's it! “

 

“Time to end this!!” yelled Gavin as he ran towards Yusuke. Gavin had started to gather his green energy into his hand. As he got close to Yusuke, he threw his fist out and out shot a green ball of energy.

 

Yusuke knew it wouldn't be good, so he yelled out “Shot gun!” The familiar barrage of spirit gun blasts shot out from his fist. Most of the central ones smacked into Gavin's blast. A few went around and headed straight towards Gavin. Before anything else happened, there was an explosion of green and blue light. When the light cleared, both Gavin and Yusuke laid on their backs. Both of their shirts had completely blown off.

 

As they both got up, Yusuke noticed that Gavin had scars all over his chest. One diagonal scar was over his heart. There was another near his stomach and yet another that went from the left side of his neck to under his right armpit. Yusuke felt compelled to ask, “How the hell did you get those?”

 

Gavin responded “Konryu's training. He's trained me ever since I was four.”

 

“Huh.” said Yusuke “Well, then it looks like this is going to be a lot harder than I thought.”

 

“Yeah, I've been able to tell you're holding back.” Gavin remarked. “But then again, so have I. What do you say we stop toying around. It's been enough of a warm up. Let's get serious.”

 

“Yeah, let's do this!” shouted Yusuke.

 

Both raised their hands into the air. What looked like yellow electric shackles appeared on their arms. Kuwabara recognized them as the spirit cuffs Yusuke wore back when fighting Toguro. Both Gavin and Yusuke shouted “Abidus!”

 

The cuffs disappeared and an explosion of their energy appeared as auras around each of them. Both raised their right index fingers and shouted simultaneously “Spirit Gun!” (Yusuke) and “Chaos Gun!” (Gavin). The two blasts met halfway between them, but instead of exploding like last time, the blasts imploded making what looked like a tiny black hole in the center of their battlefield. It lasted for only a few seconds and then disappeared. The two combatants charged each other and began fist fighting. Neither one could do any apparent damage to the other. Eventually, they hit each other in the face causing each to back away. Both breathing heavily.

 

Gavin spoke between gasps “I don't think I've had this hard a fight in my entire life. You're pretty good, Yusuke. But can you keep up?”

 

Yusuke retorted “It's your ass that needs to worry about keeping up. I don't plan on losing no matter what the hell happens.”

 

“That's good because this battle is far from over.”

 

Hanako looked worried. “This isn't good.”she thought to herself, “Gavin's already taken off his vest and removed the spirit cuffs. If he keeps charging in like this, his ma-zoku powers could awaken. And… unlike Yusuke, he can't control those. This isn't going to be good.”

In the distance, there were at least 20 demons hiding just beyond the fighting area. The first demon spoke to another, “As soon as they both get worn out, we'll attack and destroy them all.”

 

“Yes, but we won't we have to worry about Konryu and Genkai?”

 

“Don't worry. With all of us, there is no way they'll ever be able to fight us.” the first demon reassured his fellow. “Yes, just a little longer and then we'll kill them.”

 

 

 

Gavin and Yusuke were squaring off again. “It's time I reveal a few new tricks.” said Gavin.

 

“Well, I hope that they're better than what I've already seen.” Yusuke retorted. “I'm getting a little tired of just seeing that Chaos Gun.”

 

“Don't worry. There's much more for you to see.”

 

As Gavin said this, what looked like green lightning was starting to wrap around his right arm.

Author's Note: Mazoku7 here! Sorry it's been so long, I've been busy recently with everything going on. I've had so much to do, I haven't gotten the chance to get on to do these chapters for my fanfic. I promise I'll try to get them done more regularly from now on. But on to what's really important… their battle. The next chapter will be great. It will tell a little bit more about Gavin's past and have a lot of action. The fight between Yusuke and Gavin isn't even half done - So get ready for one hell of a bang!
